Never heard of it. Then I walked into a shop today and just tried it on the simplest modeling amp. It blew my mind. If only I could play her better, I would have bought her on the spot. Soon though!

This is gorgeous. The guitar is pretty too!
FGN stands for Fender Gibson Neaterer

I dig the shape of the headstock, fancy and reminiscing of japan art... The entire guitar is very nice but I particularly love large frets.

Gibson's have been going down in quality for years and they've been relying on their name and their customer loyalty to get them through. It's great knowing that there are so many different guitars out there that are better and cheaper that people can actually afford. Awesome video keep it up.

Gary Heighway the Memphis factory where they make 335’s is significantly better than Gibson USA. Everything is hand finished and is plecked at the factory. pick ups are hand wound also. In this instance average build quality is the same as the FGN and nitro finish rather than acrylic. Price is more than comparable too given it’s an actual Gibson.

@Robert Hardt you can find an FGN in the States...as long as you don’t mind it saying Ibanez Prestige on the headstock. 😂

Well, at least with my computer speakers this is the FGN guitar that has sounded the best so far. And yes, that even includes with the Revv amp. Whatever those Japanese hand-wired pickups are, they are indeed good to my ears. Great review!

A good match to the Small Box. Pretty good sounding and smart ES, apart from the headstock.

It's a real beauty, just a note on the body width which is 15", a full fat Gibbo 335 is 16"

Hah, what a nice coincidence, The day you posted this (Dec 8th) was the day when I got my first hollowbody. It's an Ibanez AS series, and yes it has a guitartit, and yes the dots are friggin centered :-)) Thanks for that

I cant play but got my kids playing like rockets,, we have real good gear,,,,i have Fender reissue stuff still in cases never played,,Steve Vai Ibanez jems,, Law suit Ibanez, Lee reitner models,, a few premium japanese guitars that are better than the fenders,, even a $400 profile 54 strat in Ash is a beautifull guitar and allways in tune.. i just bought a fujigen j standard from a shop in japan..... these are great and real professional. they have other names in the same factory i believe,, caparison, history, and possibly moon and combat. i would look there also. Steve in Australia

Alnico 3 is not used a lot, but it give some nice clearity to humbuckers that easily get’s lost with heavier magnets.

The incredible level of detail on your camera footage, the glow of the sunshine flooding the room, enhancing every nuance of this adorable guitar.
335s are my darlings. I was going to make a video about each of my guitars personalities. The 335 always demands frequent polishing. She likes to accessorize, the cable had to match, the strap had to be the best, the strings have to be new, and I have to inspect it routinely. Big bottomed, bell like voicing. For all your clean, low gain, and even high gain needs. 335s are the most cunning sounding guitars.
I still love my nibs, if you're going to bind the neck. Put 10-52s on it, set the intonation, tighten the truss rod...like Larry Carlton. Love the Lewitt 440 sounds Henning. Gorgeous guitar, you should get one in Violet. That's French, for Purple.
My $.02. The neck on the Gibson 335 is the most unstable. It is temperature sensitive. It goes out of tune faster than any other guitar. But Fujigen makes incredible necks. This FGN is probably not a direct equal, and that's probably a good thing.

I just picked up a mint condition FGN Masterfield off of Reverb. I will have it later this week. Can anybody tell me if the electronics are quality components? I can’t find the info anywhere. I’m hoping the electronics are Cts Pots and Switchcraft for the toggle switch and output jack.

Volutes. Improve what the big G did wrong. So in the 70s the big G realized that and put volutes on, I think they lowered the headstock pitch too. But us conservative guitarists all said they were bad. So in the 80s they took them off again.
I agree with you I'd prefer one there but then all the purists claim it won't sound like Freddie and BB and Eric etc all did.

I can't believe it took this long for Fujigen to come out with their own line, they've been building everyone elses high end guitars since the 70's, I agree with you... the output on the guitar is in a very bad place.. traditional or not, it just seems wrong.

Sorry Henning when it comes to 335 type guitars Gibson’s built in Memphis are as good build quality wise as anything on the planet with the possible exception of a Collings which is twice the cost of a Gibson. I know because I’ve tried 15 over the past 6 months and everyone of them was built brilliantly with the exception of a 2016 which had been left under lights for too long at the retailer. Each one had a different tone however, which is exactly how it should be. The FGN appears to be a really good guitar, but I bought my 335 for £2,300 which is not substantially more than the FGN and I know it’s possible to buy a 335 for less if you look.

A « G » 335 has a body width of 16’´ while the FGN is 15´´ making it less clunky to handle… if you come from an LP habit…

    Sounds great - looks cheap!!
Don't like the headstock or the jack into the front of the body - I know its traditional to have the input on the front but I don't like it. Dot inlays also look cheap!!!
Obviously recorded before the arrival of the Marshall too... ;)
