That’s a fantastic degree at Deakin. Victoria Uni is extremely strong in that degree - one of the best in Australia. Good job prospects for that subject in Melbourne.
Both are great unis and engineering is strong at each. Maybe Curtin ahead of Deakin. Compare both of compared.edu.au. Perth and Melbourne are very different cities so you may want to look into each of those too.

Hi mate, you can find graduate employment statistics on compared.edu.au. Choose Deakin and then narrow down by field of study - biomed isn't its own category, you might need to pick "health", but it'll give you a good idea.

Strong business school. Double accredited. From memory the MBA has classes taught in their building in the city, which is very professional. Deakin is a great uni - lots of strong linkages and programs 👍

Sports is a good program at Deakin. You might also look at VU, which has one of the best sports programs in the world, from memory. Building your network is an important part of getting to an elite level, so whichever uni you end up at make sure you get involved in lots of extracurricular activities, like clubs, internships, placements, leadership programs etc.
Hi, what about Economics. I have had heard that deakin uni offer health Economics. Now I'm undergraduate student. I wish to have my graduation there. So can a commerce stream student take health economics.
I’d say that would be possible. Health departments around Australia are facing serious demographic and logistical challenges. Having people that understand that will be important - as will it be important for intl Govts to understand those areas and the connections too.

Deakin is a great uni. I would also strongly consider ACU and Notre Dame, which both rank really high for nursing and get good student feedback (Notre Dame in particular).
Hey Mikayla, I wouldn’t recommend Deakin as an international student. I caught Covid-19 in October and couldn’t complete two assignments and failed those two units. I was first advised that I should not worry about my studies and grades but focus on my health and wellbeing. I was also advised by a student adviser that I could apply and get a refund for the units I failed. But in the end, my application was unsuccessful. I also have friends studying at other universities that got a refund even after the census date since we had Covid-19 lockdown in Melbourne. Good luck!
That’s disappointing you weren’t refunded. Deakin has done a lot to support students throughout the pandemic - they’ve been part of important initiatives to look after the health and wellbeing of international students. I hope they might reconsider their response to you.
Hi Rob, I'm about to do a bachelor of film, television and animation or screen studies and really wanted to know which university is best for this area of study in Melbourne. I am currently debating between Swinburne and Deakin but I don't know which is better for the industry but I'm open to better universities for film in Victoria. Hi Katrinika - I’m not so sure for this. Deakin and Swinnie are both great unis and have advantages. My feeling with these sorts of degrees is that you’ll learn the basics in any degree, and it’s the extra stuff you do (internships, volunteer work, co-curricular study, industry networking) that really make the difference to you career. It’s like, if you have a film degree you’re 1 in 1000 graduates. But if you add in some sound design or even computer coding you’re suddenly only competing with 100 other students. And then if you’ve done an internship or two, are part of an industry association and have worked on a film festival as a volunteer, suddenly you’re a unique candidate…
Unfortunately I don't really know much about those disciplines so I would suggest you check out the QILT website (www.qilt.edu.au) and do some deep research on those disciplines. I'd also strongly recommend that you think about what you want to do OUTSIDE the classroom. For example, RMIT is RIGHT in the middle of the CBD, but La Trobe is set on a lovely parkland campus. Which is more important to you? Uni is as much about your experience outside the classroom as inside, so think about what is important to you and also look at what each university offers in that regard because you'll get a good "technical education" from any university in Melbourne.

Yeah, look, a good design school. There are others in Victoria too, but Deakin has other advantages like good leadership and overseas study programs. Design is an interesting field, it's changing a lot. Lots of automation. The real future in that field imo is in UX design (i.e. the interface between traditional design, technology and consumers).

I’m not intimately familiar with it but I’ve had a look at the course structure and it looks pretty good. The thing is also say about Deakin is that it has epic opportunities to study overseas and do internships, which really broaden your mind to everything the world has to offer. That is a big plus if you want to become an author - the more you can draw on authentic experiences, the more authentic your writing will be!
There are heaps of good programs. I’d say its more important what kind of writing you’re hoping to do - there are excellent journalism programs at some places, whereas others have stronger focuses on historical and biographical writing, or fiction. Writing is a very personal thing. Honestly, I think it’s worth taking the time to look into many of the writing programs: look at their course structures. Look at the professors and what Their writing is about. Look up your favourite authors and see where they studied (if they did). It’s only through that process that you can really narrow it down based on your own personal tastes and interests.
That depends on you. What is most important to you? Jobs? Learning outcomes? Connections? Social life? What do you like outside of the classroom? Do you want to be in the middle of a city or on an open, bushland campus?

Honestly, a relevant degree from ANY Australian university will help get you a job. personally, I believe (and have seen in my experience) that it's AS important what you do OUTSIDE the classroom, as the marks/degree you get. By that, I mean: the activities you undertake at university (like exchange, study tours, joining clubs, leadership activities, seminars etc), as well as the other things you do (volunteer in the community, work a job, be a mentor or coach) that make the difference in getting a job you actually want. Employers are overwhelmingly looking at the holistic fit of candidates these days, not just their degrees. That makes it as important to think about EVERYTHING you want to participate in, not just the degree. Deakin is a globally respected university and fully accredited in Australia. I would personally have no concerns about the quality of teaching there 👍
What is temp there approx?
Winter can get relatively cold (mid teens max most days) and Summers can get hot. Melbourne can have “4 seasons in one day”.

Writing is a very personal thing. Honestly, I think it’s worth taking the time to look into many of the writing programs: look at their course structures. Look at the professors and what Their writing is about. Look up your favourite authors and see where they studied (if they did).
It’s only through that process that you can really narrow it down based on your own personal tastes and interests.
Is this uni good for master of public health?
Deakin’s health programs are very good. I don’t know that specific degree but the university is really great overall in my opinion

That depends on you. What is most important to you? Jobs? Learning outcomes? Connections? Social life? What do you like outside of the classroom? Do you want to be in the middle of a city or on an open, bushland campus?

Honestly, a relevant degree from ANY Australian university will help get you a job. personally, I believe (and have seen in my experience) that it's AS important what you do OUTSIDE the classroom, as the marks/degree you get.
By that, I mean: the activities you undertake at university (like exchange, study tours, joining clubs, leadership activities, seminars etc), as well as the other things you do (volunteer in the community, work a job, be a mentor or coach) that make the difference in getting a job you actually want.
Employers are overwhelmingly looking at the holistic fit of candidates these days, not just their degrees. That makes it as important to think about EVERYTHING you want to participate in, not just the degree.

I reckon Deakin’s programs are great 👍
