I was in the Navy and I had just left port in 2018. It was RIMPAC and the next day I was able to log on to Facebook and received a message from my best friend. He had told me that he had failed to take his own life. There was nothing I could do but move mountians to get a call to him which I was able to thank god. What made things worse was that we had an officer kill himself a week later. This song got me through a lot. Only until last week I wasn't able to listen to song after it got me through that long month. Thank you Deadmau5.

It's equal parts beautiful and sad how a song titled 'Monophobia' (the fear of isolation and being alone) has a music video featuring deadmau5 alone in his house surrounded by bizarre, imaginary CGI creatures of his own design.
As someone who prefers to spend ~90% of their time alone, but still feels loneliness, I can relate.
Poizen '87 I think that was an intention of Joel. This video is hilarious, but look at it's deeper message... He hit the point of the song's subject even too hard! I think it's brilliant how he combined those separate ideas
My little brother played me this song and it was the first time he's showed me not only what he's interested in but he also showed me a decent song. Every time I listen to this I think of night we spent two hours cleaning his room. It was so precious hearing him sing along to this song while cleaning with me :') it's such a great memory now 💖 love you zaza

Monophobia is the specific phobia of isolation; a morbid fear of being egotistical, or a dread of being alone or isolated. What's the significance here, I wonder.
I think when we are in isolation our heads begin to create weird things thoughts spread and branch out can lead to dread or weird stuff, I know it's the case for me anyway

But the Lyrics add the part about a missing relationship.
He's thinking about her, wonders about her feelings....
"Maybe the silence is dangerous" is potentially the most dramatic phrase, because it could mean that he's so lonely he's isolating himself into dying off... Or maybe he fears that SHE is not responding to him as usual because she's being depressed, and maybe she even killed herself...
"See if you're hurting after tearing me down" that's obviously that she dumped him

I think that refers to denial of the break-up, mixed with sadness thus the rain of tears.
( 5 steps of mourning : denial, anger, negotiation, sadness, acceptance)
At 2:30 there's a focus on that woman, maybe she symbolizes the girl he loves and became crazy and hurt herself (and hurt him). Him shaking her around through the computer is like his way to express his remorse towards her while she's not here to be available in person and won't respond to him.
Maybe it's also like he's desperately trying to 'fix' her.

Joel Zimmerman (deadmau5) is married. His wife posts a lot of travel photos and mau5 is presumably touring or making music a majority of the time. Or playing video games lol. If he doesn't get to see his wife a lot he would probably feel very lonely.
