Decent vocals, but it could use some stuttering.
Kappa
Fuck, that was too good of a joke for no one to know where it came from.
I bet deadmau5 would love some shuttering :^)
Lazorinc someone commented the same thing like a year before this fuck
Fucking brilliant hahahahahahaha.
If you know how the vocal for this song was found by deadmau5, this song becomes 1001 times more epic :)
I just saw that video lol that's why I'm at this video now
Ezra Rubenstein Yeah, that's a pretty awesome story. Everyone who likes this song, who hasn't seen that video where he first hears these vocals, should definitely watch it.
Void same
If you want your album/song to be more popular, you must invent a story. Don't be stupid and easy to foolish. If you watch the video carefully when he so called "found" the artist, you will notice some act especially from his wife or girlfriend.
She's acting because she doesn't have the same instinct for music that he does and she hasn't read the story. She just wants to be excited with him.
I am so damn glad Mau5 and Chris found each other and made a BEAUTIFUL track :D Love it! Bless the internet!
Hahahahahaha!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
GHFear yes, I thought the same

and we are back
8 years later.... and I’m still adding the stuttering to this song in my head 🤣

Just jumped o to here from reddit. Wow. This track still hits years later. Dont know what happend to deadmau5 or Chris. Hope things worked out.
Same, cant believe I haven't heard this one. That's why I will always love reddit, never know what you will find.
@@crimsonsword23 true stuff... Went from Reddit, to UA-cam, Wikipedia, finally Goodreads 😅
I have always loved this song but only today i discovered the story behind this on reddit
Same. I've heard it plenty of times but I didn't know the backstory. Pretty cool.
In the short story "veldt" by ray Bradbury, the parents discuss about a specific room in the house (the nursery) a holographic room that projects images of the imagination (like the holodeck from startreck), when the childrens parents discuss the issues of the room being a problem to their behavior.
Threatening to shut the nursery off permentaly, the kids throw a fit. After their tantrum, the children ask their dad to go back into the room. Moments later they scream for their parents, the parents come rushing in, with the kids nowhere to be found, they look to the door, the kids shut and lock the parents in the nursery, surrounded by lions the mother and father get mauled, (the white glasses)
"The world that the children made" comes from the African setting the children imagined for the room to generate.
A short summary of an already short story......You're doing God's work..
@Jackie Tearie that's true but it is a pretty gruesome way to go
@@thenamesronni Because it is.
@@thenamesronni Oh yeah. We read it my sophomore year of high school, aaaaaand it was a pretty interesting topic to talk about.
Fck these kids
This intro has been my alarm clock for 11 years. I wake up happy ever time my alarm goes off.
It's like your theme song now.
I woke up to a Duke Dumont song for years too, and looking back, things were better back then. Maybe I should try again.
Shut up, no way this has been out for 11 years, wth where’d the time go 😩
Happy Technology!!!
I tried making a song I loved my alarm. Now I hate that song and can’t listen to it without feeling cranky.
Banger song I love it
I used to listen to this song as a kid and I’ve spent about 4 years looking for this song again, today was my lucky day.
An old time favourite
You should try reading the short story now
Me- just discovered this song and browsing through the comments and sees your comment. Goes back to see when video was published. 8 YEARS AGO!? damn.
That has to be the best feeling in the world, to finally find the song you're looking for. After hours of googling "song that goes dun du du dun duu dudu dun".
I’m still looking for a song I heard in my dads car 20 years ago and can not find it to save my life I remember a very small line from the song but can’t find anything from it😔
Such a happy song.. for such a dark sinister story. *Foot note to all parents: You might want to hold off on those deluxe holodeck plans you have for your kids' nursery!
Matt Carrell nice XD
at last a sensible comment. People saying that knowing the story that song is based on makes it more "epic". Some people use words they don't even know what they mean.
@@conatchaThis reminds me of another song. You might know "Hey Ya" by Outkast. It sounds like a cheery and happy song that you can dance to, similar to this song, expect when you disect the lyrics, it's has a dark story behind it, like this song. I recall that the lyrics of "Hey Ya" even said, "Y'all don't care, you just want to dance."
This is one of the few songs that makes me cry. I first heard it when I was 25 and living on my own in Florida (moved from Virginia) to be a Flight instructor at a small airport. While I lived there I had met a beautiful waitress that was also into deadmau5 and we hung out together in downtown Orlando clubbing. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago when I left Florida to be an airline pilot. She was in rehab. The song is real tearjerker for me...
Feels bro !!!
Remember the good times !
Wow this is the first time I’m listening to this and I’m 25
My ex died last month, the first night we met we went back to my place to smoke a bunch of weed he played this to me and sang it to me while dancing with me and holding me. I will love him always until im with him again. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Strong 🏆
Sorry to read that, brother
Ahhh grade 6, bless your soul Ms. Veronica. Wouldn't have found this masterpiece without you
This sounds like a story I’d like to hear. 😄

My English teacher freshman year introduced me to this too!!
Read the short story - the video and lyrics have so much more meaning! Chris James NAILED the lyrics from the story.
This is remind me the Limbo.
exactly
ArenKitsune Thank,amd sorry.
lol i actually didnt notice dat he had written the limbo and not of limbo till now
that's not surprising, since limbo also has references to the short story this song is based on (The Veldt by Ray Bradbury)
Wooo! We learned more 100 +1 :D yay !
So crazy how Chris James got vocals on this. Twitter is fuckin powerful.
Then you could do better than dropping f bombs for emphasis.
i encourage all of you to stop listening right now and go read the short story “The Veldt”, then watch the livestream clip of vocals being discovered, then come back and appreciate this song for what it truly is.
The story behind this (the veldt ) just makes this track , Chris just nailed it with the vocal . I hope he made a fortune out of it , he deserves it . Taking nothing away from Deadmou5 of course .
Great song, with a great story behind the lyrics. Love this track.
Some songs give you that weird feeling of joy..
I have always been a fan of Ray Bradbury's works. After reading "The Veldt" so many times, it is awesome to see a visual interpretation of it.
the video where joel finds vocals for this is priceless you guys need to check it out
what a fucking masterpiece of deadmau5
can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not
And the vocalist
Correct it's amazing
the stutter lives rent free in my mind
Imagine if Joel didn’t click on the twitter link. This song wouldn’t be a thing!
This is so good, somebody must've shown him, if he didn't find it himself
This song would still have been a thing. It's just that the vocals would be wildly different.
It would have still been a thing just different.
It’s amazing how people and computer generated sound can make all of this sound so damn good.
happy technology :)
9 years later... its still a classic
RIP RAY...1920-2012 wow he lived 92 years. this is a great tribute to the guy but hes in a better place now.

This song reminds of when my son was growing up. He’s all grown up now, in his career. I really miss those days.
Did your son tried to kill you? Do you know the story this song is based on?
@@conatcha I know. He read the book as a child. That’s why I remember it. No, he never tried to kill me.
Exactly how many people know this is about a short story by Ray Bradbury?
Not very many
I remember reading this for English class back in Grade 9. Part of the reason I love this song so much.
That's how I got here
Me
FR3ZBY that’s how I found the song😂
I think the scene at @2:23 is a Ray Bradbury reference. In his interview he said he had a t-shirt idea that would read
"Stand at the Top of the Cliff and Jump off And Build your wings on the way down".
Ray Bradbury was a magnificent human being.
I believe it more a nod to the actual story, the children are in a holodeck left alone and end up creating a fairly fucked up place. It entertains the idea that eventually technology will raise our kids more than we do, which could cause problems for the kids
Noil Bee
The whole song is a nod to the original story by Bradbury...
B2Roland Really?! Wow I had no idea! What is the original story? What's the book called?
Chameleon EDM Is this a book?
Few people realise the musical intuition this masterpiece requires. These coords are astounding; as is deadmou5
Just heard this on the radio 3/1/22. It's a Tuesday night.
Can't help but get a haunting feeling with this tune after learning what the lyrics mean.
You know a song is great when you have heard it hundreds of times but get excited when you hear those first few notes again.
Just discovered this song from an IG/FB reel
Incredible how this song drive me to tears. Especially knowing the backing story
The style is like limbo... Awesome!
Little too much like Limbo eh?
spot on!! i was looking for this comment. i even looked if it was the same animators but nope.
It creeps me out to see these innocent looking cartoon kids and realize the story has them murdering their parents.
Bradbury was one of the greatest at that low-key, nightmarish scare :) Love the man.
Stupid f....., their parents were idiots. Horrible parents, that is what it is.

This was released 20 days after he passed away. I'd like to think he just walked into one of his many stories. Perhaps, one day we meet again, take a look around, find what we need, and begin yet a new adventure. Ray Bradbury.
Man this song is calming also.......ain’t this limbo
Vocals so perfect...and his voice tone is warm as vintage top singer ...really beautiful. And match perfectly this beautiful sound

Favorite Deadnau5 song. With a lot of meaning for me.
Beautiful song.
I'm a fan of nearly all genres of music...this is in my top 10 favorites of ANY song. This song largely influenced me to delete ALL of my social media (except UA-cam) back in 2016. This tune is deep and simply speaks to my soul.
Oh fuck the nostalgia is hitting me like a TRUCK

I was 9 when I heard this song and listening to it now that I'm 20 makes me cry with nostalgia...♥️😭😭😭
5 years later it's still amazing
I don’t know why it took me a decade to listen to this banger
Still listening in 2021 👌
Even without the stuttering, this is easily the best deadmau5 song
The only problem with this song is that it's too short.
Well, this is the radio edit. The original version is 10 minutes
calleha
Mind fucken blown!! Downloading the 8:42 minute song!! XD
Dennis Vivanco The 8 minute version is like the original. The only difference is that the original version has a 1:30 minute intro

The escence of the song reminds good vibe, fresh and line composition of "Cars & Girls" a hit of 1988 of the group Prefab Sprout
Ya casi 11 años de este himno, como desearía volver a esa época, cuando era feliz y no lo sabia..
Beautiful tribute to Ray, cheers deadmau5, you never cease to amaze :)
And that's how limbo started
Either that or both the video and the game were animated by Deadmau5.
When this story is terrible but the music, video, and animation are 🔥
I just love the story behind the vocals to this song.
kyoyameganebereznoff everything about this song is just perfect, i saw how he got the vocals too and it was just unreal and of this quality even! and his reaction when he heard the vocals :D
I'm getting some nostalgia
Aaaa this song was my childhood

thanks deadmau5 for making this some time that suited everyone to enjoy miss you😥😥😥😭😭😭👍👍✌✌🎶🎶😊😊
God I can't wait for immersive VR and all the crazy shit that's gonna happen....
safarani Haha, me too... but what made you think about that when you typed that comment?
The Veldt. The story more so than the song/music video.
Happy 10 years for the album while 1
Okay just saying this is NOT LIMBO
it's based off a short story made by Ray Bradbury in 1950 about a family surrounded by machines that do EVERYTHING for them, and a 'Nursery' that the children had set to be in Africa. I'm not gonna go in depth with the book but I'm just saying what the song is about as it is similar to the book for the way it depicts the room. All I will say however, is that it was used as a way for the psychiatrist to monitor the children in a house where their parents are just there to pay the bills- nothing else
but the animations is identical as limbo
Vitor Hugo
Perhaps limbo based its animation off this.
Either way this is based on a book released in 1955, hell I read it in CLASS
cool to know
No, Limbo did not base its animation off of this. The music video came out AFTER the game, meaning that the animation in the video is based off of the animation in Limbo. Also, Limbo does not follow any of the illustrations from the original book.
Limbo was not inspired by the Veldt.
omg!!!
I'm so happy I found this part of my childhood :) I rembered it as I was vibing to an avcii song. love this
this track is gorgeous, and it will slay at half-time. and then again for liquid drum and bass. thank you< 3
Sounds amazing!
Its just missing a little bit of voice stuttering in the beginning
DONT LEAVE IT! DONT LEAVE IT!

I have to wonder what made the director choose to do the video like this.
Had he just played *LIMBO* and decided that was the style he wanted?
pretty fun game tho
Cadler123 Oh, sure, *LIMBO* was great--it just didn't really have the kind of atmosphere I expected from a video for this song, but this director managed to pull it off perfectly.
Distracted Globe Productions It’s actually from a story Called (You guessed it) The Veldt

Fantastic take on the short story, The Veldt, by Ray Bradbury (who also wrote Fahrenheit 451).
Nicely done! I use this song when teaching my 10th graders The Veldt. The lyrics can be difficult to hear clearly at times, and it would be beneficial for my students to read the lyrics while watching the video, so they can see how closely this ties into the story. I don't seem to be able to add the closed captioning through the "normal" routes and would love it if you would consider adding closed captioning on your end!
If you still can't get it to work, you might just try and have the lyrics typed out and in another window and show them at the same time (just have the lyrics up I mean) so they can see what is being said
This looks EXACTLY like Limbo. Which one came first?
It's based off a story by Ray Bradbury also children that are dark with glowing eyes is not exclusive to Limbo.
ChannelyChannel But their movement is exactly like Limbo too.
So you're saying the movement looks like a regular humans movement?
yeah!! this reminds me of limbo :D
+ChannelyChannel He meant animation.
the visuals remind me of the game "Limbo"
Woah I had just read this story in school and why does this look like limbo?
Twitch Cybul I know
probably because mau5 is a big time nerd :-)
We read about this story in school literally the week after the song came out, it was pretty cool knowing what it is actually about, while everyone else just liked it because it was on the radio and was catchy
deadmau5 played through the whole thing on stream at one point. so maybe that, idk though.
Perhaps the people who created limbo were inspired by the book.
