Welcome Sakalakala tv viewers!! "We must be the change we wish to see in the world"-said Gandhiji. Here are some change makers who created a solution for converting a 230V home to a 48V home with minimal capital investment. This video comprises of a detailed description of a house which runs throughouly in 48V. The overall concept employed here is "INVERTERLESS POWER SUPPLY". Hence there is no need of inverter in the home. Also SMPS(Switch Mode Power Supply) is used which converts even 230V supply to 48V even when no solar power is available or battery got dried. 48V bldc fans, 48V outdoor lights, air-coolers,Tv are presently available and the conversion are made. Anyhow in future even fridge, air-coolers, mixi, grinders will be available at 48V Dc supply. Hence we must put forward the steps in order to convert from ac to Dc supply which is cost, energy, loss and area saving(i.e,.) purely economical.

well readers remember the watts you consume for whatever appliance divided by the Voltage you use is Amps the current in Amps consumed. The larger the wattage, the higher the current and if you use 12V, it is even higher. Say for eg: if you have a 480W appliance at 48 Volt DC u will draw 10 Amps, and if you run with 12V you will draw 40 Amps. The higher the current you use, larger the wire size. Copper wires are NOT CHEAP, at 40 Amps you will need a 6-8 mm copper rod to run the current. The ideas are great and don't expect your entire house to run on low voltage DC. Think before you dive into these ideas. I highly respect the show and these things are ideal for small appliances that draw low watts. Do your Home work before you jump into thinking it is the future way. There are limitations.

converting entire premises from 240v ac to 12v/48v dc is purely useless. Please don't make all your viewers believe that changing from 240v ac to your 12v dc is advantage. The whole country is using 240v ac items so all the manufacturers are building their products only for ac current items. For eg... sony handicam comes with 7.2v dc charging but they provide adapter which works on 120v to 240v ac current. How will I charge the handicam on 12v dc. You will spoil your warranty if you use any other adapter. Similarly from mobiles to every thing that we consume is on 240v ac platform. We cannot spoil warranty for every item by changing the original adapter. Now a days, electronics items are locked to work only on their original adapters. I have been using 2800w solar plant since 2010. I convert the dc current to ac using inverter and use them in the regular boards.

I have a question. 100W = approx 342 BTU, at 350w power consumption BTU realized for cooling = 3.5 times 342 = say 1200 BTU. In other words you mentioned 350 W is all you need to cool a room which means you are saying 1200 BTU will be enough to cool a room. I beg to differ because typically 5000-6000 BTU is required to cool a room from 100 to 300 Sq ft. Even if you go with the average (Chennai is HOT), 5000 BTU will cool a 200 sft roon, Based on that rule 1200 BTU from a 350W power will barely cool a 50 sq ft room. I am afraid you are over exaggerating the cooling capacity of a unit that consumes only 350 Watts. Can you clarify what size room you are talking and what is the delta (temp difference between ambient to room. Dont forget that the homes in India made of concrete and bricks and are NOT good thermal Insulators. Will appreciate your response.
