Godspeed JTE, such a talented guy. I knew even 9 years ago hearing the intro to this song here, that he was on borrowed time. Thank You for leaving us with your Music, at least. Condolences to his wife and 3 yr old daughter....
So glad I was able to see his man right after the release of Harlem River Blues. Hands down the greatest show I've been to thus far. His energy would hit you like a physical impact. RIP to a real one.
Oh man I’ve heard him before and liked him but this was on another level. Wish I could’ve had the chance to see him. I used to love his dads character as bubbles’ sponsor on the wire. Was such a good accurate description of addiction and the strife it brings. Rest In Peace buddy.
God Love Him. I still can't stop crying every time I listen to him in Spotify or on here. My family members have died from drug addiction, they used mostly alcohol to self medicate to help them through the day. My mam used to go into a pchyciatric ward to treat depression , only for them to replace the alcohol with what we called in the 80s Duck Eggs, high dose tablets that turned her into a zombie, then they gave her facking EST got her to sign the consent form. It made her worse after, they told her it would get rid of her bad memories , but it didn't , it made her lose a lot of her memory, it never repaired properly. I did the best I could to help her, even when her personality changed after a certain time. I knew why she drank, I knew why she self meditated with alcohol, I knew why she hurt, I knew the reasons why my other family members drink and it's always is because of someone fucking with their head through many forms of abuse when they where children or even older, as abuse has no age limit for the victim, it's a very vicious cycle, I which the UK had the same laws as the USA. The youngest age of one of my family members to pass away due to alcoholism was only 23, she signed herself out of hospital, died 3 days later, she hurt cos her mam died when a few yrs before, her mam died because of alcohol because the man she loved died from alcohol. As for me ... I have done my best to break the vicious cycle by me choosing not to go down that road. Two of my children don't drink, they are aged 28 & 29 and I hope that they never ever follow in those same footsteps. One never knows, all we can do is pray for them x
Nice to see people remembering him still, hope it lasts. Miss him terribly. Just listened to Yuma had to come here to cheer up a bit! Respect from a rainy (covid-soaked) Ireland ✌
Talent for days and his own genuine style with no coattails ridden from his fathers legacy, together made this man an endangered species long before he ever became extinct. When Justin passed , we lost a lot more than just an amazing artist, we lost our only chance for our generation to redeem itself after all of the garbage sound that has diluted and distorted what it means to make " good music " ! I hope that you found peace brother You deserve it.
Got to see him live a few weeks ago in Asheville NC ... it was about 2 straight hours of blues in the raw --- as above --- catch him live for a show with arena rock adrenaline in a venue intimate enough to pick out chords
Just another absolute tragedy. When you are a practicing addict it’s just a matter of where and when because at the end of it all , everything’s eventual. R.I.P. J.T.E.🥀
He lived how he wanted. Nobody gets out of here alive as old Hank could tell you! I believe that if the pandemic never happened he would still be here. No shows, no income and no living is death already. Many others slipped back into their old comfortable ways to *get by* R.I.P. to the last of the best!
God damn, there are few musicians I love so much as Justin. Everything he touches seems to turn golden. I highly recommend you check out Mississippi John Hurt if you like his style, he takes a lot of inspiration from his work no doubt. Google for 'Spike Driver Blues,' 'Make Me A Pallet on Your Floor,' 'Hop Joint,' and 'Lonesome Valley.' Amazing music, thanks for sharing.
I recently got a guitar signed by him 3 different times...I really wish I could've met him tho he is such a big influence on me musically and I really wish he was still here💔💔❤️🩹💙

"The whole point is to live through it and I always managed to do that..." Until you don't. RIP Justin
IM HERE REMINISCING ON THE GREATEST SOLO GIG EVER PLAYED AFTER FINDING OUT ABOUT HIS DEATH :( so sad
absolutely the greatest solo gig ever
Made me tear up a little.
Josh Socket for real, who cut the onions in here
I JUST heard that part and had the same thought as I was about to read your comment. You manage until you just can’t anymore, Damn it. Rip Justin.
This is both the most authentic and the most innovative version of this old song I've heard.
his picking and style is out of this world
Sounds like Mississippi john hurt, this is the first time I've ever heard of this guy, just heard abour it from a steve earle vid
sounds like that guitar is about to explode into a thousand pieces!
ALL that madness and he nails the last note! What a guitar monster! Grateful to see him live once and was blown away... RIP
Same
Goddamn he makes that guitar ring 20 different ways at once and doesn’t skip a beat.
Keep up the good work man!
He was an awesome picker! He sounds like 3 pickers altogether. Loved his style.
He passed away unfortunately. Accidentally overdosed. That's how I discovered him.

This guy is a genius. And his smile reminds me of Steve Goodman.
Going through a rough time right now, and "I guess the whole point is to live through it" just hit me straight in the heart strings.

Anyone know what guitar he is playing there? I know of a few that he played, a Gibson, Loar, and a Recording King, but that looks like something else.
This kid is wired pretty tight.
Does anyone know what type of guitar he's playing?
Maybe I heard him wrong, did he stop smoking? That is good if he did.
Stay away from those cigarettes too!! Bad for ya!
LOOKS MORE LIKE TOWNES VAN ZANDT THAN STEVE EARL
Ya know I love this guy but I just wish he'd keep a steady time.
