I can't believe he is gone. Such an amazing talent
a tragedy.
So sad. Love his music. Should have let him know.
I love the dude
Heart is broken :(
The brightest lights always burn out too quickly. Tragic.
You get the feeling here that having talent this pure ain't easy.
Sad high price to pay for a good song
This performance is an all-time classic. Rest In Peace, Justin. You will be missed.
Every bit as good as his father's and every bit as tortured as his namesakes.
@@absolutelynonameslef Fantastic observation and turn of phrase my friend. "Maybe I could find the moment that my father broke my mother's heart..in half and I love Steve's music. But to reach that level of honesty in a song is quite the achievement. RIP JTE. 🙏 I dunno if you've heard Jason Isbells "streetlights" but that does something similar to me. Two great artists..Isbell actually played lead guitar for JTE on 'Harlem River Blues" on letterman here on the UA-cam. Great stuff.
@@brazenlilhussy5975 huge Isbell fan and Streetlights is a classic. "Think I blocked just a park away" is one of my favorite lines ever. Jason and Justin are among the best I've ever heard.
Met him in Philly. He signed my album for me. He's a nice guy. Only got to talk for less than a minute but it meant a lot to me that he had a little time for a random HUGE fan like me.
Me and a couple others spent a whole night with him after his show at Mojo's Bar, a small place in Fremantle, Western Australia...saw the sun pop before we headed our separate ways...dude was just a beautiful soul.
We all hear the pain in his voice - many songs about ending it all - He had the balls to live life on his own terms
RIP - JTE
This is stunning. He's battling in front/on stage with earnestness and vulnerability.
Feel for you Justin.
Couldn’t have said it better myself
Logan Allen thanks
Music is literally pouring outta him..when he imagines finding the moment his 'father broke his mother's heart in half' is especially raw.
I loved how his lyrics were so personal. We lost a treasure.
There are no words, only sadness.
Everytime I hear a candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long this guy comes to mind
Jesus every time I hear his songs I remember what kind of genius he is. It's so sad that he suffered.
Phenomenal! "We both pretend we don't know why..." Love it.
Grew up on his old man music, and this guy has always spoke to me. You are missed friend. Love and respect to you and yours. Rest easy
He had such a unique playing ability and style. We couldve learned so much from him. I already have. Rest easy JTE.
So much pain, but so much talent. Love, Light and Peace to you, Justin. Rest easy.
I have just discovered him love his music but I can feel his pain🙏rip Justin mate
Thank you for the music. RIP JTE ❤
I never really felt a singer's passing like I felt JTEs. Your music lives on forever.
RIP mate.Condolences from Australia!
I have no idea who the hell this guy is, but a song that I hear that I can relate to 100% and makes me cry, ignites a bit of hope into my heart. This guy is an instant favorite.
Instant favorit...yes, that's what he is, unfortunately a tragic one.
Instant favorit...yes, that's what he is, unfortunately a tragic one.
Damn he sounds like his dad in this! Rest in peace. Gone too soon!
RIP Justin, your music lives on brother!
One of my all time favorite JTE performances. Rest in peace.
My heart's so bad..😪 I feel this song is him explaining his pain and his addiction..
Just found him . I can hear his pleas. RIP.
A great song. Hits me in the gut.
Just an unbelievable version of his great song.
this smashes me. i like it so much. on repeat.
I've only watched this video a couple thousand times...love this damn guy!
Me too el cujo.love mommas eyes too
I'd love a full video of this just focusing on his right hand. I wish I could learn to play in that style
Really love this song and this is definitely the best version of this song
So sad, 2020 hasn't been kind.
Every now and then I'll get into a slump while listening to his music, and then I come back to this gem. Damn.
Brutal, and emotional. I wish him all the best as a recovering addict myself this is a tad hard to watch, but I give it up to him. Super talented and a great old voice. Peace
Amazing.
He name checks his parents. He had a lot of daemon s all his life. Soooo talented . Ridiculous loss . Love his music.
Sometimes trying is not enough...I feel his soul..rip
His songs are always so heartfelt and melodic.
This is a gem I just stumbled across 😎🎶👌
I am saddened he's gone. Man, what a talent.
Such a great performance by such a talented musician. It breaks your heart.
RIP, Justin ~ hope you find your Place to Land. In loving Memory
album version: 7/10
this one: 10,5/10
totally agree... the album version is so flat. He really comes alive in this one.
I would say most of his songs sound even better live. Dude's pure talent.
I’ve only just come across this massively talented chap, not realising he had died from a drug overdose a few years ago. I heard an acoustic version of Harlem river blues and couldn’t stop playing it. He pretty much tells us in this particular song it’s probably not going to end well.
JTE is basically a musical genius. He sometimes references Billy Holiday so we know he knows his stuff. His lyrics, guitar work, and voice are wonderful for his style which is actually quite subtle. Love his music!
Her stuff you mean.
@@mrjasondylan No, he constantly references Billy Holiday..and did throughout his career..her, and her music. Wrote the song "White Gardenias" about her..I think you got mixed up. Its a saying "he knows his stuff" insinuating he knows his music..which was true.
@@brazenlilhussy5975 yes I got ya I misread it yes he loved Holiday, that's a fantastic song he wrote about her hopefully he's singing with her every night now.
@@mrjasondylan Agreed man. It's a beautiful song. 👍
One of the greatest of all time
Kids life was a car crash. Stupidly talented. He had it, but his songs say sooooo much about him
Listen to the words
I have just discovered him I can feel his pain in the songs but with the lifestyle of his father and probably his up bringing life for him was going to be short love him and his songs rip friend🙏
RIP ♡
Really great performance. Just a dude and his guitar- awesomely good!! And with a $350 guitar!
This was a great performance. this guys music is really good. Thumbs up
I heard Steve talking about this guitar and how Justin cheese it to be his. What a beautiful song.
What brand of guitar is this? I couldn’t figure it out. Thanks.
What a performance, I love the way he sung the vocals, so much honesty & heart.
Do you think he died tryin’ to live up to his two last names? I’m my mind, he did justice to both.
I just think he was one of these dudes that the world was too heavy for y'no? You can't think that deeply bout everything and be a normal functionng member of society when off the road..it's all he knew..'sure it hurts but it should hurt sometimes, we don't see eye to eye' RIP JTE ya legend.
I've wondered the same. That's a hell of a legacy though. Most of jts songs were very personal .
Amazing song. Sure hits home.
My favorite live artist I've ever seen
so good. if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Earle live, go. Best live performer out there.
This is beautiful.
Fuck man...I’m heartbroken. Rest easy man.
Thank you, My Friend, "Blue" for sending!!
Wonderfully enjoyed.
Peace Out.
Anita
I met him a few times many years ago when he was still working for his dad, and he was really nice.
Missed so much ❤️❤️❤️
Incredible
Goddamn that hit home. Wow, so good.
Truly a treasure for the poor to find.
he's got a new album. fuckin buy it!
Devastatingly beautiful
Good tune! I have gotten his autograph a few times and have talked with him briefly, and he is very nice, seemed very gentleman like, kind and friendly.
It is always nice to remember that family members do not always see eye to eye about things, but they are still family.
Hey Justin - you’ve become Therapy man … may the Gods bless you and make you all the stronger!
GREAT PERFORMANCE,FROM A TROUBLED SOUL.
I think they write different kinds of music. Realistically, Steve was more country. When it comes to folk, it doesn't get any better than JTE -- his guitar play, songwriting and presence. Even his voice is perfect for his own songs.
Well now 30 years of running's left me standing with my back to the cold And it's left me most days wondering if I've ever really learned a thing at all But I'm trying to move on, trying to move on
Like him a lot more than his Dad... Too sad he could not find a reason to live. His works will live on...
I think it was an accidental overdose. Apparently, Justin was still somewhat weak from having recently fought off pneumonia, which may have factored into his death too. Also, it could have easily been a nasty heroin and fentanyl mix that brought him down. That goddamn fentanyl.
He had plenty of reasons to live..... He just got too high that's all.
You're probably right with that fentanyl .
@@PokeySoggybottom It was accidental and was fentanyl laced cocaine.
@@desolationangel5136 Yes, I've since heard that too. The loss still hits hard. There's just nobody like him. An article in "The East Nashvillian" called JTE a "genre unto himself." He's been the main influence on my guitar playing style. That percussive picking rhythm he perfected is a thing of rare beauty!
IT MUST BE HARD TRYIN TO COME OUT OF YOUR FATHERS SHADOW.I SAY FAIR PLAY TO THE DUDE HE REALLY NAILS IT THIS TIME.SUPERB.WELL DONE JUSTIN.I RELLY FELT IT MAN
Wow, this is really cool 😎
He is definitely his father's son 💙 you can hear it in this performance in particular!!!...
Holy shot.
These words say so much about him. A massive loss. He was so creative.
I did enjoy
I can sense a little bit of his dad in the vocals, and Townes Van Zandt in his song demeanor
AWESOME
I cannot believe he is gone!
Excellent aeome performance
This could be the greatest moxt personal performance I ever heard
I miss Justin a lot.
Another tragic loss, RIP young man!

I didn’t realize how talented this man was .!! mike kelso Jr
Miss you brother love ya man its time to move on but i cant your music lives on
No-one WANTS to be like their parents but it's ingrained....
Dam I miss you, bought the Loar, leaned the style and you were my inspiration to write, then they said you were gone, my heart still breaks thinking of your family, and how much we will miss , you had so much more to give, fook drugs, why, why
He was great....
