Love you Justin, you were taken way too early from us. I got to meet him 7-8 times at his shows, and he was always the nicest guy to me. He even remembered me from his previous shows and asked me if I wanted to smoke with him. I don’t even smoke, but I did that last night. We talked about addiction and how it’s impacted our lives. He gave me the motivation to get past my demons and move forward. I’m finally off of all my pain medication thanks to Justin. Wish he could have done the same. Love you Justin, rest easy buddy.
I think that not too deep down he truly wanted to leave, and I think that's okay. As sad as this sounds, many want to leave but can't or don't know how. He will live on in the veins of those of us who really feel him, who get goosebumps when he plays, who might occasionally cry a little bit when he plays. This set is so amazing, there are no words.
Bless you Stephen. What a man he was and always will be. So glad you got life comfort through meeting Justin. I don't think I'll ever stop missing him. THE best ever ❤
I dont know about anybody else...but his acoustic renditions are so, so much better than the album versions. These are how the songs were meant to be played, without a doubt.
I once heard Jeff Tweedy saying that the true test of how good a song is is how it comes across when it's just the singer and a guitar. If you can make it work in a solo performance, then it's probably a solid song.
Justin Townes Earle's death was a "Where were you when" moment for me. I walked into my local coffee shop, which always streams KEXP, when the announcer broke the news. In this day and age when we almost always learn of celebrity deaths on our phones, this felt unusually fitting for me.
I've listened to this every night for 3 months...I'm not one for listening to anything over and over . Amazing. Beautiful. One of the best songwriters of our time..
man his lyrics are great: "Maybe I should go back, back to the night where it all began Maybe I should trace my life back to the night where my folks first met Maybe I could find the moment where my father broke my mother's heart in half Or I could go back to New York City, just learn to live with that"
That line gets me every time... as a long time sufferer of depression, that's where your mind goes... retracing everything that's happened in your life, and even before you were born, to try to work out where things went wrong and why they are the way they are, as if you can find some key to 'solving' it, then you just wonder if it's not about 'solving' anything, but managing it daily, 'learning to live with it'.. edit: OMG I just realised I replied to my own comment from 3 years ago wtf lol
@@frarfarf Thanks for leaving your comment and not deleting it after you discovered you replied to yourself. I just came across Justin Earle tonight and am really enjoying. I didn't know Steve Earle had a son and that he had passed away. Really is too bad. Lot of good songs.
This was the video that got me into JTE as a teen. I would buy every guitar magazine that he was in, cut out the articles and tape them on my wall. I even bought the same model guitar he plays in this video with the same pickup. Made me feel like I could play like him. His music will always live on.
He has a weird picking style that sounds great. Some of his songs are kinda hard to play even though they're simple. Man it sucks he's gone. I really fell in love with his music and felt like I could relate.
Michelin Roade the brand is called “The Loar” and the model is called the “LO-16” I’ve also seen him play the same guitar but with a natural wood colored top. The guitar pickup he used was a “L.R. Baggs M1”

Listening to this makes me so happy because he was exposed to great musicians all his life...and he in turn is such a great artist...my God can he pick a guitar.. Townes would be more then proud!! Another great up and coming troubadour
Of all the incredible acts that have been on KEXP -- Tallest Man on Earth, Head and the Heart, Milo Greene, Widower, Daughter, Bryan John Appleby, Of Monsters and Men, Rose Windows, Lumineers, First Aid Kit, Little Green Cars, Laura Marling -- I still think this is my favorite performance they have. Such a beautiful, meaningful, heartfelt record.
This is unbelievably good, he played Nottngham UK this year and unfortunately I missed him, I certainly won't make that mistake again, the title song just tears you apart
I may be straying from the pack here, but I feel every song that he played that's on the new album was much, much better acoustic rather than with a band. It's so raw up here. These songs were meant to be just him. This video, with very minor accompaniment, should've been the album.
Justin was at his best solo. Raw and real, wonderful. That said, when he did play in a duo, trio and bands they were hand-picked, so was still a great experience live always.
What an artist!! Most everyone else is just singers without soul. The best is the ones that don’t follow everyone else, they create their selves. His dad did also. Justin creativity reminds me of Cat Stevens that’s a huge compliment!
His music is always ten times better when it's just him and an acoustic guitar...stripped down, raw and without any fluff. This is when he's at his strongest...like Dylan in his heyday.
Wow! I just found this guy cuz I was listening to the OCMS station on iHeart, and one of his songs came on. Love this! I'm a metalhead, but was feeling kinda folksy tonight, and wow. Justin has a new fan!

I waited way too long to actually listen to JTE's music. Movin' On is completely embedded in my brain. Steve must've been so proud.

You'll be sorely missed. Thanks for being yourself.
Man, this guy is just awesome! He comes off so emotionally raw and genuine too.
Its hurting my heart when I listened to the first song of album and last song of album and heard his suffering and heartache....and loneliness....😪
Unfortunately Anna just guts me every time.
Gladi got to see him in a small venue. His playing style is great, simple but blanketing the song so well. Love his dad, him and his namesake.
I love this performance so much.
The truth, when you hear it; is unmistakable. And then it is unforgettable. RIP Troubador.

I'm over the moon about this new CD. Have had a preview copy for about a month. Can't find a weak link. Way to go, JTE.
Wow!!! The very last song. Titled Move On.... He embodied his fathers voice.... Ear to ear smiles of joy. The Good die young. Aint no joke.
