On top of penny when the cloud broke was breathtaking. Well done. Your videos have given me the inspiration to fight on with my work to walk again. I’ve had a brain injury and been bedridden for most of this year. I’m now out of bed and walking round the house. I can wait to get out in my naturehike cloud up to for the first time.
When you all said good night it reminded me of the Walton's if you've ever seen it? Goodnight John boy; night Elizabeth; night Mary Ellen; night Jim Bob!
Excellent video Trev.. As expected.. I must admit I do turn into a sniggering child everytime you mention Fan-y-big.... You all looked like you had a great time 👍👍
Haha! Yeah, we didnt make such a big thing about the comedy name this time... Had a brilliant time thanks. Well worth it for the clouds up top, amazing! Cheers for watching, Dave!
I done Pen y Fan on my platoon sergeants battle course. Spent 3 days/nights in the wood with hardly any sleep freezing and soaking then the final suprise was we tackled this with full kit weighing roughly 70 pounds. I was blacking out and all near the finish but wudn’t change it for the world. Unreal experience i’ll never forget
Must pop up there sometime when I get the chance to see my mum who lives in Upper Brynamman famous for one the Top Gear Roads on the Black Mountain Pass, the other being around Penderyn not far from Pen Y Fan.
Just started watching, and I had to break-off to remark ....... excellent audio gain used, well clear and audible ....... many of your excellent vids in the past have been on the quiet side, so good stuff this time around Sir. Kind regards.
Great vid Trev and nice to see you back in Wales again. Loved how you got the clouds to clear like that.. can you do a tutorial in your next video please?😀 Atb Joss
Thanks Scott - yea... that was a moment there. My wife had some friends around the other night and she showed them the first ten minutes, they were confused at why i enjoy struggling up hills in the mist and then that happened and then they got why we do it! Haha! Thanks for watching!
Summit Or Nothing yeh make that slog up is worth it when the view is like that. Have to get together for a wild camp sometime as would be great to meet up 😉
Well done guys.. Next up you should do the ‘ Fan Dance’, as we did in the Army. The 24 mile route ,However , You can leave out the boots and the 60 lb + Bergen..lol How did the naturehike cloud up tent do ?
A bit of a misty climb but an outstanding view once the miraculous parting of the clouds happened!!! 👍😃👍 Ahhh yes the craziness of a group camp...lol... And you had to know it would get windy up there.. 👍😃 Awesome job up and back.. No pen Y Fan legends?...lol.
Thanks Mari. Glad that you enjoyed. Brecon beacons is definitely a great place to visit. Not as big as Scotland and North Wales but bigger hills than Dartmoor. Thanks for watching!
Summit Or Nothing I love Scotland and North Wales but from the videos & photos I’ve seen, Brecon Beacons look a but like the Faroe Islands (thanks to a friend who pointed it out). Thanks for sharing this vid. You have so many adventure vlogs. I’ve already subscribed so I look forward to going thru them and learning more. Cheers, Mari
Hey I'm new here from hike camps channel he tagged you in a preparedness video and as the originator of the tag I want to follow it along and discover some great new channels. So here I am subbed and ready. Cheers from Canada Shawn
Hi I subbed from over at Joss's channel , love the video I metal detect in Wales and always on the hills but that was some climb., amazing when you got to the top.
Hi Jackie. How ya doing? Thanks for the sub. Hope you enjoy all that you find. Yea that was a slog up there but those views soon reminded us of why we do it. Thanks for watching!
Yea - you should! It was a bit windy, mind - but great fun! And yeah, I shared some pics of the trip on Facebook the following day and the chap commented - thats my tent, or something like that! haha!
Summit Or Nothing I just ordered some new kit for wild camping as my regular stuff was not suitable (tent too heavy, sleeping bag not warm enough), I plan on testing it at Hay Bluff first and then onto Pen y fan.. great vids mate really enjoyed watching 👍
You lucky git lol. It's a great place, hope to get there more often now. I did chat with Dai in the morning, he was fine. Didn't realise he ran the FB group til I shared our pics the next day and he commented that was me camped next to you haha
Great vid. I tried that with the coffee once but found that it didn't mix very well, so I bought some small resealable bags from Amazon and made individual ones. Some with sugar, for my better half, and some without for me. Try using Nescafe gold espresso. It's a much finer powder. You can't beat a hot coffee on the hill!
Yeah, it takes some integrating when its in bigger granules. I like the Alzera coffee the best - tastes like real coffee and powdery too. Thanks or watching!
Shame about the weather bit it did clear up for a little while. I'm thinking about doing this at the end of April. How long did it take you to walk up😁👍
Makes the rolling hills of Dartmoor look like a walk in the park. I'm so glad my greatest ability outdoors is to sleep in anything no matter how noisy, hate to suffer like you did.
Hi Trev just came across your channel via Joss mystery challenge vid great gift you got him, I love it up there matey camped on the very top in winter once nearly froze to death lol 😂 good video matey ATB Subbed 👍
I managed to get that sleeping bag at a great price, lucked out in eBay, not quite as cheap as a tenner but it was better than what I was going to get him. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy the channel. Will sub you back.... All the best.... Oh, was already subbed to you.
Great vid, well done. I'll be in Wales next year to visit my family. Can you tell me, is it single track on all of this trek? Here in Thailand we 'push & drop' on mountain bikes. This look like a good spot for such madness. Cheers.
Yea it was pretty much a track along here, not sure what the rules are with regards to mountain bikes... You may have to do a little research, but I'd imagine it'd be a great place for it. Thanks for watching!
Weird seeing the famous Argos one man tent in the vid as I'd just commented to someone that next time I go wild camping, I think I'll take that little Argos tent. They were a bit of a cult thing back in the day when I used to go on the climbing forums and people were raving about them. One guy said it was the only one of five tents to survive a storm on Ben Nevis when all the others were flattened! They were £48 then they started selling them off-I paid £24-a week later they were £12! I'm not sure of the actual make 'ProActive' maybe?
Amazing what you can find for a bargain, I saw a tent in Lidl the other day for about £20... Wish I'd bought it just to see how it performed. Was gone the next time I went in... Typical.
Fab! love your channel! How many miles is it to the top? How long did it take you? Would you say this is a better/more enjoyable walk than Snowdon? I'm definitely wanting to do this one!!
Hi Nicola. It was a little over 6 miles to the top, a little under in reverse I'd say. Its a different experience to Snowdon, and once you're up, the horseshoe walk along the ridges is relatively steady walking. Thanks for watching!
😂 watched this video the other day and just got back from doing the Horse shoe put the t.v on and low and behold there you are again on a program about when camping goes horribly wrong what’s the chances of that
Yea, it was a slog but all you can do is keep putting one foot in from=nt of the other until you get there, heh? Worth it once we got there, though. Thanks for watching!
Trev, I think you need to see a doctor. I believe you are suffering from a little known disease called Tentophoria - an uncontrollable urge to buy and try as many tents as possible in the shortest possible time! Excellent video (and editing) even though I had to stop watching halfway through and have a rest and a cup of coffee because my legs were aching just watching you and your mates! Those ration packs are excellent for a one or two night adventure but sadly a bit too heavy and bulky for long distance, lightweight adventures. I get mine off eBay. What about you?
I know Ken. We have just moved house and our utility is fill to the cieling with tents... It was a slog, need to keep practicing. The ration pack was pretty cool, was fairly heavy but at the same price as a couple of boil in the bags couldn't grumble. I actually just split it down and took what I wanted. Still got some left over now. Got it for a tenner at a company which I can't recall the name of off the top of my head. I will be doing a video on it soon though so will post links.
Don't worry. We did some cooking back at the camper vans before we left, ration packs were just as we knew it would be late when we finally set up camp.
The national Trust own pen y fan I think, and I'm a member who practices and advicates leave no trace and wild camps responsibly so hopefully they won't mind.
When the cloud broke .. that was beautiful.

Yea - it was a pretty awesome moment - you take care now, hope that you make a speedy recovery!
A beautiful part of the world that I tabbed many many times with the fan dance.
When you all said good night it reminded me of the Walton's if you've ever seen it? Goodnight John boy; night Elizabeth; night Mary Ellen; night Jim Bob!
Haha! Yea - I can remember the Waltons... so much so that I now have the theme tune stuck in my head lol. Cheers for that !
Reminded me of the Teletubbies
Watched all your dartmoor videos so here I am binge watching the rest of your amazing videos🏕
Enjoying your videos mate, nice red kite footage too.

Nice one Trev. Went up that way myself a few weeks back it is steep mate and I only had a small pack on my back so fair play buddy 👍
Yea was quite a slog with those packs on, bit worth it just for that cloud inversion up top. Thanks for watching!
We stayed in that drained reservoir last night lovely spot looking up at Pen y Fan
nice hike and over night camp out with your friends enjoyed watching Trev
Thanks, Craig! Glad that you enjoyed it!
Nice vid guys, camped on Pen Y Fan that night, we could see your tents just below Cribyn. Very lucky with the weather......
Cheers Ian. Was a great camp, a little bit gusty at times but we all enjoyed it. Hope you had a good night too. Thanks for watching!
Watching this while sitting in The Smugglers Hostel in the Cairngorms. Love it.
Wow. Hope you enjoyed it .. and the Cairngorms
Amazing atmospherics at the top, thanks Trev.
Was pretty awesome, and lucky with the timing. Cheers for watching, Steve

Cheers Tom. Yea we lucked out with weather up top. Was well worth the climb. Cheers for watching!
Crackin video as usual. Lookin to do some of the brecon beacons and pen y fan later this year. Looks amazing! 😍
Awesome! Have fun! And thanks for watching!
That was an incredible summit really amazing well done once again
Thanks Brendan. Was a good old hike this one. Cheers!
Superb sir. Just came back from Brecon but stayed away from them big hill
Still plenty to see without having to get up top I guess. Well, at least we can share the views with you.
Great vid Trev and nice to see you back in Wales again. Loved how you got the clouds to clear like that.. can you do a tutorial in your next video please?😀 Atb Joss

Cheers, Steve. Glas that you enjoyed it and thanks for joining us! all the best!
Great video and that moment at 9.15 was amazing and had a big smile on my face watching it as I know that feeling 😀

The Naturehike tent has done really well - it always does! Great tents!
Great video again. Gonna have to do one night on Dartmoor when I pop back to the UK in September, you always make me miss wild camping!
Haha! Well, its always good to have something to look forward to, I'm just giving you a fix whilst you can't, heh? Thanks for watching!

Persistence in the scramble had great rewards at the summit... You were just living up to your call... "SUMMIT OR NOTHING"
Top video Trev as always, sat in my digs in the Lake District watching it on this occasion. Looking forward to the next one 😊👍🏻
Cheers Neal, great stuff. I do live the lakes.... Soon.... Soon....

Well done mate 👏🏻, you must of been freezing climbing that in short sleeved. Very well done, very entertaining video.
Cheers Tom / Joe. Was warm going up, with the old blood pumping, but got cold once we stopped.
Nice footage of the mist clearing. And a good vid.😊
Thanks very much - we were lucky to get up there for that break in the weather. Made it all worth the struggle up there.

Ideal, I think this was about the best spot on the hill, as far as we could see. Good luck with your walk and camp next month! Stay safe!
