Great video, nicely shot, and despite the weather you got some stunning views. Alan is a great bloke and really easy to get on with, so the perfect walking partner, especially if you are new to the ground. Loved his video. Also loved having two different videos, each with their own individual style, of the same walk.
Thanks Jonathan. Glad that you enjoyed my take on the same adventure. Alan is a too bloke and I am looking forward to more collaborations with him in the future. Thanks for watching!
Oh man this is great it's like a double header I get to watch 2 of the channels I'm subbed to at the same time! Great video my friends. Good laughs and great scenery! Thank you for sharing this with us cheers from Canada Shawn
Haha.... Who doesn't love a buy one get one free offer, right? haha. Thanks for watching and glad that you enjoyed our collaboration. All the best! Trev
Enjoyed watching this having just watched Alan's vid of the same trip. I thought it was Roger Daltrey at first. Wonderful scenery and good camera work, glad the sun came out in the end if a bit late.
It’s videos like this that have started me walking the Cornish coastal path I wish I started walking years ago now I am looking into wild camping great video
Well I'm glad to have helped you get up and out. I know what you mean about wishing you'd started earlier, but better late than never, heh. Thanks for watching and all the best to you.
Haha, that was brilliant Trev, really enjoyed it and brought back great memories of a really enjoyable day. Blencathera is still waiting (as is Sharp Edge) and a canny wildcamping spot at Scales Tarn on the way up. If you fancy it, next time you are up give me a shout. Cheers Alan
Cheers Alan. And thanks very much for showing me around up there. Was great to finally meet you Glad you enjoyed my revisit of a fantastic hill climb. And I am already looking forward to another visit. I'll be in touch for sure!!
Loved watching this! We did helvellyn in may this year…….sweet baby Jesus, I run 5k a few times a week and swim, but nothing prepared me for those 2 miles of hellish steps 😂
Great video. Youve enlightened me, I never realised that Scafell and Scafell Pike were two different mountains!! I thought they were the same. Great route- have done Helvellyn years ago👍 Not done a lot in the lakes since.
Great to see this walk from your perspective as well, Trev, having only caught up with Alan's video last night. Looking forward to that wild camp video. All the best!
Hats off to both yourself Trev and Alan! I wish that I had done that when I was younger and able. Still, it was great watching you guys show us this beautiful part of lake district! ATVB. Take care, Steve 👍👍👏👏
Cheers Steve, and you're welcome. That's the beauty of UA-cam, we are able to share all of these great experiences with others. Glad that you enjoyed the video. All the best.
Excellent video Trev, looks like you and Alan had a good laugh. Can't wait for the wildcamp video, helvellyn is on my list to go along the edges. ... 👍👍
Yep, it's on my list still too. I hear it's one of the easier ridges so ... One day. Was great to meet Lan, top bloke and a good laugh. we both really enjoyed ourselves Thanks for watching.
Awesome video Trev!! Helvellyn is my favourite of the Lake District’s mountains that I have done unfortunately like you I didn’t get the view from the top but I did just a bit lower. I did it over Striding edge and off Swirral edge and it was awesome! Hopefully you’ll get to do that someday. Think I missed you by a day as I went home on the Friday and you did Helvellyn on the Saturday. Keep up the great work!! 👍🏻👏🏻😊
Ah, shame we missed you, Neal, it's always nice to bump into viewers out on the trail. And I will definitely get up striding edge one day. Cheers for watching!
I'm sure you'd have no problem with Striding edge in normal conditions! Nice gentle ridge to get started on IMO, and other than 1 small section called the Chimney, it's all got side routes so you're not right on the edge. 👍🏻
Awesome Trev... Was waiting for your half of this adventure... Bloody steps would kill me.. Both of you need to come here and help me get up Cloud Peak (only 13,200 feet / 4023.36 meters). Amazing views 😀 Going down that trail would just kill me for a few days but I think it would be worth it..👍👍 Although I have seen several videos of hiking Helevellyn they are all unique. You and Alan did it proud. 👍😎... Looking forward to both wild camp videos.. Cheers gents.. 🍺🍺 Max
Wow Max, Cloud Peak sounds like a challenge, maybe one day we will take you up on the challenge. Thanks for watching, we both had a really great day up on this beauty of a mountain. Was like meeting an old friend. ATB, Trev
Both of you feel like old friends and I have never met either of you, but I know we would hit it right off like we were always best of friends... In case you are seriously interested in Cloud Peak as a future summit here is a link with some good information... www.hikingproject.com/trail/7034182/cloud-peak-route It has been a goal for 30 years but after my knee injury I knew I could not do it... The two of you would likely at least have to help this busted up old guy back down... LOL
Cracking video Trev it's great to meet up with other youtuber's that you watch it's like you have known them for years without even meeting them that was a great walk with amazing views and good company just subscribed to Alan metalmans channel thanks for sharing looking forward to seeing the wildcamping video atvb jimmy 😎
Great video and content. Lovely that the weather changed and you two had a great day. Done it a few times with the boy. Thirlspot farm is pretty decent if you don’t fancy a wild-camp, it’s almost at the foot of the hill and decent £. Striding Edge is a great route too if you fancy some more thrills, but as you say, it’s a cracking tab no matter where you do it from. ATB. P.s What’s the wee intro tune? It’s magic!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Del - yeah it was agreat day and a fantastic mountain with plenty of options to get up and down. Will do Striding edge one day! The tune is just a freebie from UA-cam audio library i have downloaded to my computer.
Great video Trev and what a double act!! Ant and Dec, the 2 Ronnies or was it the Chuckle Brothers!! It's a tough walk, but if you get the weather the views are spectacular. Like you I'm not great on heights but a great guide like Alan would be the perfect one to take you up Striding Edge. Regards, Ashley
Great video mate! I love Helvellyn. In particular, the route from Glenridding up over Striding Edge, up to Helvellyn summit and then back down Swirral Edge. This is great walk and very popular. I've done it several times and it is a good challenging start to get into ridge walking. If you are ever in the area again, I would be happy to accompany you! :) ATB JD
Cheers mate - Yeah I will check out that route at a later date - but for the time being I was just set on getting up there - must say I did enjoy the circular route we did. All the best and thanks for watching!
My knees have been a lot better since I been using knee straps - I carry the poles in case they get bad, but to be honest, I walk with the camera tripod in hand for ease of setting up a shot (I know, I know, priorities and all that haha). That does often double up as a walking aid though!
I watched this video last week in preparation for yesterday when I climbed Helvellyn yesterday up swirral edge in some of the worst weather conditions I've ever been out in lol Feel free to check out my vid 😊
Well done gents. Great route, great walk and a great video. Shame it didn't clear whilst you were at the top. Can't wait for the wild camp.

Haha - yeah, I didnt realsie that either, I would have popped over to Scafell whilst I was up on scafell Pike if I'd have known at the time!
Stunning sceneries! Nice to see you and the Metalman killing it. 👌🏼
Thanks. Was a good collab and a great mountain. Thanks for watching!
Great to see this walk from your perspective as well, Trev, having only caught up with Alan's video last night. Looking forward to that wild camp video. All the best!
Yea, glad you enjoyed both versions. All the best, and thanks for watching!
Fantastc walk and lovely video! I am glad the weather cleared up 🌞
Thanks Torunn. Was a great mountain to trek up and when the weather cleared the views were stunning. Thanks for watching!
Hats off to both yourself Trev and Alan!

@@SummitOrNothing Thank you Trev.
GREAT vid. Glad you enjoyed the glorious lakes👍. I’ve shared a good walk with the Metalman before. He’s good crack👍
Aye he's a top bloke and yea I love the lakes. Can't wait to get back there.
Great trip 👍👍👍🤙🤙🤙
Nice to see you with alan. That's a place that I have been meaning to go to for a long time. The path looks good
Thanks Tina. Was great meeting up with Alan. And Helvellyn is a fantastic mountain. Next time I may go up the brave route
@@SummitOrNothing it's on my to do list. Alan is a very nice man and knows the hill well
Evening Trev, great to see you up the Cumbrian hills. I've only ever seen them from below but what views aye! Nice one. Trev
Cheers Trev. You should definitely get yourself up top at some point mate. You don't know what youre missing. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I will take the challenge in future. Just wanted to make sure I got to take in the views from the top after 7 hours travelling..... D'oh! 🤦

I will do one day, Mike. Definitely coming back up to the lakes. Thanks for watching!
Great to see you two together. Looked a tough climb, I agree camera's never do it justice, glad the sun came out in the end 🙂
Cheers Shirley. Glad that you enjoyed it. All the best and thanks for watching!
great vid ... thx mate
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
Will you be trying the Scottish highlands anytime soon, also your right to stay away from the ridges until you feel confident.
Thanks Alistair. Probably won't make it to Scotland this year but hoping to next year. Thanks for watching
enjoyed that Trev, as always! maybe we could arrange a walk in the Shropshire Hills one of the days?
Thanks very much and yeah, I reckon that's be great. Cheers
another good hike as always, cheers
Cheers Craig. And thanks for watching.
The route from Swirls is brutal
We were expecting a killer but were both surprised how soon we seemed to get up there. The power of chatting all the way up.
Great video Trev, Do you use your trekking poles for walking? They may help take some of the strain off your knees..
My knees have been a lot better since I been using knee straps - I carry the poles in case they get bad, but to be honest, I walk with the camera tripod in hand for ease of setting up a shot (I know, I know, priorities and all that haha). That does often double up as a walking aid though!
Hi how heavy was pack weight mine will be about 12kg in a couple of weeks ?
Did you make a left turn at that nondescript boulder field?
Haha.... Funnily enough we did, George 😅😅
I watched this video last week in preparation for yesterday when I climbed Helvellyn yesterday up swirral edge in some of the worst weather conditions I've ever been out in lol
Feel free to check out my vid 😊
Very nice video! I found you from Alan’s channel. I have subbed. I have a hiking adventure channel also if you would care to check it out. Thanks
