I have been curious about these for months. Now the UA-cam gods recommends me you! Great video!
Ayyy, I know it's been a while but I wanted to say thanks for the quick, direct video of showing how each color turns out. I found it just lately while considering if I wanted to buy some Vallejo shaders (and which ones if so) and it was really nice having closer and more distant looks at each color in the box.
Would have loved an Electric Blue to a Green, perfect for Alpha Legion.
Loving this colors as well, cool video like how u explain everything
Man that electric blue looks amazing
Also, keep in mind that there's no reason you can't preshade the models first. Don't do a white zenithal, that simply does not work, however you can use other dark colours to create the ambience first, and then put this on top of that.
I just airbrushed some guys deep jade, with red ambient lighting coming from some angles, drybrushed some of their armour edges metallic, and then airbrushed on a colorshift paint and it looked really cool.
Yeah it's more work, but the amount of variation in colour will get you something that looks truly magical even on a full model.
Thanks for sharing, that's a neat effect.
Thank you, you are most welcome 😊
Those look brilliant, thanks for sharing
Thank you 😊
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thank you 😊
Thanks so much for this although I'm watching it after the fact. I've just bought these paints but have no airbrush so I'm keen to see how they look painted
funnily enough, I got into colour shift paint for an Eldar corsair army. I've also been playing with Greenstuff World's colourshift paints and I've been having a lot of fun.
Vallejo do recommend using a gloss black primer. I have found little difference with gloss or mat. Only that the mat is more grippy than the gloss. They can be brush painted but you need to thin it a little and build up layers, it dose pool when brushed.
Excellent video! I've used some other brands (via brush) that have a similar effect, and it took a couple coats to really pop. A single coat is much better.
Thank you!
Yeah I did the blades on my Howling Banshee (seen at the end) with a brush and although it looks good still, the airbrush just gives a far superior finish I think 😊
I just bought an airbrush, and I saw these in my local game shop. I wondered how good they were. The effect is cool!
Great video! Did you try the shifters from Greenstuff World? I’d be curious if they lay on just as easily.
It's PAUL DANIELS paint.... "That's Magic". Great to hear a Northern accent.... Possibly Yorkshireman! A great review mate, I'm looking around for a colour shift that goes like 'oil on water' effect! Needs to go over any colour... Am I wasting my time?
That’s really cool I would love to see with a white Zenithful highlight
Might be something I have to try, to see if it has any different effects 🤔
I would be interested in seeing an experiment with these shifter paints over different undercoats.
I'll see what I can do!
I was thinking the same thing
Another youtuber tried it over white primer and it was almost unnoticeable.
Could you use a normal paint brush for this instead of a airbrush my friend uses a brush and it came out the same
The electric blue/intense violet is the same one I'm looking at. LOVE how it came out just by the shoulder. By chance sense this vid is 3 years old and you respond have you tried darkening it? If not any idea how to without ruining the color shift? Does the color shift go through any paint put on top of it?
can you use a brush for thuis paint also?
i dont undestand. i watched a few videos of color shift paints but all seems very dark but nothing more. are the cameras not getting the color or what is it?
I was really surprised to see this in boyes. I got all 3 sets 😅 and i only went in for a gloss primer.
thinking of base coating my 1000k sons in the eclectic blue violet, wanna play around with them and contrasts too
Why did you use little parts yo Paint? It's too small and dificult to see the effects
Thanks for this video mate. Very informative! Would you say 1 coat would be enough of these to adequately basecoat a mini? Cheers!
No worries at all! Yeah 1 coat is plenty, it can be quite thick if you do too much
i also got mine from boyes, bloody brilliant place
So many hidden gems!
Not the Brighouse store?
What size needle and what PSI were you using for this?
I'm using a 0.5mm at 20 psi at the moment
Great video thanks. What 3d printer made that Marine?
Thank you! It was the Anycubic Photon
@@NightfallMiniaturesOfficial cool. Hiw much does one cost? Sorry, Google is being vague.
Thats ok! I think I got mine on sale for around £200 but that was about a year ago so might of changed
@@NightfallMiniaturesOfficial that seems so cheap for such quality! What's the catch? :P
Do you have to use airbrush or can you use ordinary brushes?
Airbrush goes on smoother, but a normal brush will also work
does it work with brushes?
Yeah it does, but you have to be a bit more careful as it can leave brush strokes, and with the nature of the paint reflecting things it can cause it to look messy instead of smooth
Time to save for an airbrush! 😅
They do open a lot of avenues to be fair! I think I paid £80 for a compressor and airbrush and I've had it over a year now. Sure, there are more expensive ones but this does me
@@NightfallMiniaturesOfficial Cheers bud! Sounds more affordable than initially thought. I've got a Morti on the shelf and I'm itching to airbrush those wings!
Big fan of your Eldar!
@@Noggaholic I'd love to do a Morti one day when funds allow 😖 the effect you'll be able to get on those wings will be worth the airbrush cost for sure!
And thanks! The army is still a work in progress but I'm getting somewhere with them finally
