Homemade Lip Balm aka ChapStick, 3 ingredients

Recipe:
2 TBSP Coconut Oil
2 TBSP Shea Butter
4 TBSP shaved bees wax
melt all together slowly and put into ChapStick molds. Let solidify for a few hours.
You can add mint extract or any kind of edible essential oil for flavor.

Depends on if you have more wax or more shea butter. But I think that is more on the side of a chapstick, at least how I make it. :)

Can I ask you what you've found is the best way to clean out your containers after? I've found that at least with making candles, getting the wax out of the containers (it's made in) is so difficult. Just curious if you've found a good thing to use for cleaning.

I've rinsed and swished them in hot water, or let them soak. Sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes it does.

You have to put the containers in boiling water since the fusion point of the wax is about 60 degrees (celcius)

If you weigh it, it will turn out the right way every time. Using a spoon isn't accurate (try weighing each tablespoon you add, it differs big time). But, i do like this easy three ingrediënt recipe, thanks for sharing

If it feels too sticky/waxy is it due to putting too much beeswax or shea? I also have trouble trying to make it feel more moisturized. It kind of dries up my lip more. Does that mean i didnt put enough oils? Please help 🙏 thank you! I use Almond oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and beeswax.

I'd say that's too much wax. The wax is there to help keep the balm solid.

theres no real way to avoid that, its physics. liquids will cling to the walls of a round container. you can always add a drop or two into that dent to fill it in

I think beeswax makes it solid, I've never not made it w/o beeswax, so I'm not sure

Beeswax is supposed to make it more solid, but I made a recipe with beeswax and it still leaked. To avoid leaking I think you should let it cool before you put it in the container.
