I remember a few years ago when I used to practice speedruns on MP2 for hours and hours every day. Speedrunning this game uses dozens of similar skips. In particular in this mission you can become immortal through a bullet time reload event that happens at the funhouse in the mission before this one. Not to mention double and triple jumps by switching weapons when jumping, and reloading while jumping. I wasn't expecting people to still remember about this game in 2024 :')
God this could actually make for some kinda fun like, not a speedrun, but a low kill count run? Like see how many triggers and fights you can avoid in the entire game. A leaderboard for lowest kill count.
the trick they use on speedruns is also lowest kill. its possible to double and triple jump from the first floor until the last one, skiping most of the triggers
This is so weird. In the first run, because of how the game usually works, I felt the lack of someone coming out of a door saying "Hey ya!" Or something.
Its got more of a focus on psychological elements similar to silent hill. As well it has really high quality and crisp textures similar to silent hill.

Congrats! Also, today I released MP2 Untamed Action mod on ModDB, try it out I bet you would enjoy it. It's a difficulty mod but unlike other ones it doesn't decrease player health but uses other smart tricks, I played thru the game 10 times in two days while testing it out and it's addicting. The thing is the mod only includes the action levels from story so it's pretty intense from start to finish you see.

I really wish there was a way to add npcs, Decompiling maps is sadly not an option either.. I would have created new in-game experience that I dreamed about for years. If only I can find a way! I did manage to make a MP2 mod where I somehow to add Vinnie (change model of an already exist npc with few codes) at Part 3 chapter 7 where he fight with max and mona Vlad's men at the mansion. The enemies don't see him as hostiles but he still fight them, better than nothing. I called the mod "A Path Never Was", it's on moddb. 2:01 Also, fun fact, the trigger do not spawn this npc, he already exist in the map but in his codes the "npc hide" option is on, the trigger simply toggle that option and makes the npc visible. This was done because MP2 npcs have a strong hearing sound and will run to the player's location once they hear something, the hide option keep them in place until they are visible again.
as a person who works on games in unreal engine, I am wondering why did the level designer who placed those triggers couldn't stretch them out to make them unavoidable...
That a sold game is designed this sloppy is actually just bizarre to me, I always fill the entire space so the player can't possible miss triggers and I do it as a hobby...
It could be that the sphere maybe represent distance to a trigger point as opposed to having literal vertices make up a box covering the hallway. So it’s actually not a volumetric trigger. The calculation would be |vector1| - |vector2| < distance which is pretty basic.
@@GamingDynamics That isn't how it works, it would just be a different calculation to detect entering a box volume, one that, yes, is more expensive than a radius check, but is still incredibly cheap and inconsequential in it's affect on performance.
