Those are some low-poly colliders. No wonder they can be avoided. Plus, they all seem to be orientated diagonally relative to the map coordinate alignment, which was a weird choice. If they were simple cubes, they'd have the same effect and be a lot more difficult to avoid.

I mentioned before a guy uploading decompiled source maps for Max Payne 1, he recently uploaded the punchinella manor map on moddb (Part II - Chapter 5), if you're interested and know how to use max payne's editor (there are tutorials available on moddb with download link) you could change some stuff in the map and upload a gameplay of it as a fresh new experience.
