Season 5, y u do dis.
ur a great chef m8 cheers
Next vid, chainsaw time XD
I can feel the pain in those words.
Whats your opinion to the last season?
Next get the chainsaw and C4 for that explosion cake
The fact that he admits, that it doesnt taste as outerwordly as the show brings it across makes this video so much more real and enjoyable.
One thing I know from cooking fancy stuff. Its usually less about the actual taste, and more about weird combinations and experiences. This is what fine dining is usually about, its usually very well made, but I think the food wars does weird combinations for shock value, as the critics in the show have experienced a lot. New ideas will stand out. They all know that the students know how to make good food, but making good food and using your brain to come up with new things is what makes a professional chef from a cook.
@@MasterGhostf yes and no. it almost does a 360 back to simplicity and a few core ingredients well and purposefully chosen. because the same reasons you mention make it so what would be impressive and complex sounding to a random person, doesn't impress a professional and it's just fluff. This applies to art aswell.
I'm honestly more impressed that he admitted that there are subtleties to the dish that he missed. The frosting, the crumble... The blink-and-you'll-miss-it factor where the dish fails if any of the elements are allowed to overwhelm the others...
I find it really admirable. Both that he doesn't glorify the anime dish too much, and that he accepts that his implementation was not perfect (even if it still looked great - yum!).
That yule log is basically season 5 in a nutshell: Disappointing and I'd rather have the regular stuff.
yep.
i rather them having the regular competition between school than the BLUE arc.
since season 3 the show starts to fall down, and its end in a bleach final.
Should Yukihira have lost with the log?
yes, 666th like!
I actually didn't watch season 5 of the anime and read the manga instead. I thought the Blue Arc of the manga was pretty good? Maybe the anime is just different?
As an Australian, Christmas is a summer thing, so would get to have this in both the right seasons at once 😃
Nice! I can't wait to visit Sydney
Same, but I’m from New Zealand lmao
@@CHEFPKR for Christmas a Buffet style lunch with a good representation of seafood (Prawns, two types of Crab, Bugs), Ham, Roast Pork, Chicken. Potato Salad, Garden Salad, Coleslaw, Crusty Baguettes and or bread rolls. and that's before you get to the Desert Buffet, and that's after a morning of "Nibbles".
Southern Hemi for the wiiiin. In Namibia our Christmas is very much a summer fest with Xmas lights at night.
@Lin oxe, frio no verão é pra fude viu kkkkk, pelo menos mais no litoral, queria que fosse assim mesmo aqui onde moro ;u;
At some point, he had to... HAD to go "Do i make something actually good or do i make it authentic?"
You can almost hear his will to live evaporate every time it just goes wrong
So... you are saying there is a possibility that we get squid and peanut butter soon?
I have rarely seen a dessert recipe as accurately showcasing the term "throwing random sh*t together". And yeah, I feel with Paul, here. I really do.
The final arc should have never been a thing, it ruins the culinary integrity of the rest of the series. The comments on the manga scans as they released were not pleased at the slightenst
It really should have been, but they wanted to milk it and the chef consultant that they used (who actually made the recipes so they could actually be done) went on maternity leave so that's why we got uhh, chainsaw nazi and a girl cutting meat with a guillotine.
“Paul buy a vita mix so you can make actually good sauces”
You forgot the please
@@Korakos it's not a request, it's a demand
That seems like an awful lot of work for something less appealing than a basic Yule Log.
Paul, THIS is what happens when you emulate season 5.
Now do yourself a favour and buy a Vitamix, consider it a Christmas present to yourself.
This abomination would have never been shown in the first four seasons. This is what Food Wars gets when they shove Erina into the plot (also not having a professional chef as a consultant)
Wait, when did SnS manga started to not use proffesional chef help? Because we know the first half of the manga use proffesional recipe.
@@ahmadniam3568 Last arc or so. The chef left due to maternity leave if I remember correctly.
So this adding the point that Regiment Shokugeki is perfect last arc of SnS manga.
(It could be longer story but yeah suddenly Azami appears, Erina being Our Ultimate Princess, etc)
@@ahmadniam3568 I still remember the time where I'm so excited for the next season to the point I repeatedly watch food wars starting from season 1. However the only thing I saw in season 5 was disappointment. I literally only watch 5 episodes and just drop on it. I don't want to ruin my perspective on food wars any further. The sudden Erina plot just make it look like another cringey romance anime and it ruin the show
@@souko3455 I remember reading the manga and just being like "wtf is this. Did they just uno reverse card Erina's character development" and I was out, literally tuned in to read the last chapter and I was done 😂
I think this cake feels more or less like a reflection of 2020
Paul: "stop eating apples, Paul"
Also Paul: "This apple will be *my snack*"
"Plzzz better blender for good good sauce"
Youre welcome
regular reminder: “Paul buy a vita mix so you can make actually good sauces”
keep on keeping on, Taishou
"Now with your health violation in hand" im ded XDD
Same xd
“I Bought them!”
“For Me!”
*”nO”*
Orange, apple, mint, coffee, avocado, chocolate, yam, yeah that sounds pretty nasty all together.
That just sounds like overload. How are you expected to taste all this in one dish? Simplify it, my god.
My guess, it's what the bad kids get to eat Christmas Morning
You know what secret ingredient would've helped it all come together nicely?
Bear meat.
And a piece of human flesh at that point
You guys realize that Chef PK can cook all the types of cuisines from all different characters?!!?! He must be some kind of kitchen overlord! 🤩
First one I have seen you cook and be like “umm what is this exactly?” Out of the loads of food wars related cooks , Christmas is almost here , Merry Christmas everyone
Invalid cooking, did not use a chainsaw to season
I say Paul should have a series where he changes the recipes he feels could've been better
In other words….be Mimasaka Subaru
When ChefPK cuts into the cake and it's an actual log:😐
The person who made the cake meme: "you may have outsmarted me but I outsmarted your outsmarting"
omg I was seriously waiting for you to make this specific dish! Was so curious if the decisions Yukihira made for this dish would be as sublime as the judges made it believe so!
I think it's the banana in the whole thing that overpowers the coffee, once banana is in something you can't really taste anything else really, I was surprised when you said you could taste the mandarin orange zest.
MERRY CHRISTMAS CHEF!
MERRY HAPPY
The flavor represents well the 5th season
Flavor? Uhm I did not see any flavor in season 5 but what I saw was like WWIII.
@@yelanchiba8818 funny as all hell?
Vitamix? you mean a chainsaw? You dont even need a custom chain for it, the regular cutting blades are already close enough to blender blades. Itll be fineee
Ouch. A 6/10 is a failing grade in the high school I went to.
6:55 "Looks like baby food that came up twice." I can't get that out of my mind now 😂
Food wars Season 5 will always be the Game of Thrones Season 8 of anime imo
reminder: “Paul buy a vita mix so you can make actually good sauces”
This is the easiest food to do in Food Wars.
Grab a Log, put Fireworks on it
*Boom You're Done Simple*
It's like ramen with a gun
@@joaobarroso9502 LOL
Sounds like what Boris would say if he reacts to anime....
It's just wood with attitude
Wow
Looks delicious! My family always makes buche de noëls for Xmas together!
This is amazing, thank you for the video chef. I still hope to one day see you either on Babish or Trash Taste. And of course I hope you one day make all of Eishi's recipes
Jeez these videos are cool. I'm lowkey binge watching your videos whenever it's on the recommended for me.
this recipe is a lot of work, good thing you like playing with your food ;)
happy holidays, and keep up the great work!
southern hemisphere rights for this one
Chefpk’s face when he took out the torch was amazing
Watching you dice that banana reminds me of how horribly incompetent I am with a kitchen knife...
I'm just excited to see the beef stew yukihira makes
Just finished Yule festival in AC Valhalla, and this Christmas Yule Log just get recommended in UA-cam. Merry Christmas from Malaysia, Chef PK, skål!
Merry Christmas!
The amount of effort and dedication you put into these videos is awe-inspiring
Hey bro, found your channel 3 days ago and am amazed and inspired! Godbless you PK
You rolled that chiffon cake like a G. Now time for Momo’s cake fortress plz
i love how snarky and critical voice over Paul is :P
I would've loved to see this during Japan week on the Great British Bake Off. Lol.
The Irony of Gourmet cooking is its about the presentation and not neccisarily taste
Not really, a lot of "gourmet" food would still taste nice to an untrained tongue, there are of course some weird tasting ones, but if its meant to be served in a restaurant it more kften than not, actually tastes good
F for the blender
Paul, You asked me to remind you to buy a Vitamix Processor... Ok, my job is done, have a good day.
New fav quote, "With health violation in hand"
also 1 thing I would love to see w/ some of the food wars dishes that don't really turn out well with how they were described, i'd love to see a series of fixing the dishes to make them actually work
Great work dude, looks amazing!
RESPECC for all the hard work that went into this one!
love all the vids you're putting out!!
Yooo that look good no cap. 😋
I peep that new channel profile pic tho 😳🔥
Such a beautiful cake! Merry Early Christmas to you, Chef PK!
It's such a shame in how Food Wars went into the route it did in the last season. The previous seasons seemed to have some of the realistic aspects in cooking, or at least what you've pointed out for us.
Unfortunately, it ended up becoming more of a shonen anime instead of a cooking anime.
(Granted, Food Wars IS a shonen anime but at least some aspects there were a bit more realistic than the "Cross Knifes" nonsense.)
But enough of that stuff. Again, great video. Delicious cake. And Merry Christmas!
i honestly never tried to recreate such christmasy desert, but i remember doing a different version of it with my mum!
the log was more like...not an oak log, but birch log.
Well done! A regular Yule log seems difficult enough
I wonder what you thought when you tried the “sauce/frosting” at first after blending it 🤔😆
I also agree that Fuji apple is really good. It's pretty sweet and I quite like the crispy texture of those apples compared to some of the softer ones.
I have a vitamix, it will still be hard to get dry ingredients off the walls. But yes, you should still get one
Small tip, if you are using both the eggyolks and the eggwhites, whisk up the whites first and then you can use the same whisk/handmixer for the eggyolks and don't have to wash it twice.
we have all year long summer with rainy days in-between , here in Indonesia XD
and we don't really have any meals specially for Christmas, but for new year it depends on which culture you're following. My family follows the Chinese culture (kinda), so we usually eat : mochi ginger soup , steamed chicken with herbs , boiled rice noodle with sesame seeds, and the "red tortoise cake".
Hey chefpk first off thank you for all of these videos I’ve done some of them and they’ve all been amazing. Could you make the coulibac that ryo made by any chance?
when couch Greg tells me to buy a ninja blender then CHEFPK tells me otherwise
what do I do now!?!?!?
"panicking noises"
I grew up eating rolled cakes but it was almost exclusively during Easter were my mom used to cut the roll cake and then flip it on its side. cover with whipped cream( to look like egg white) and the top with a caned peach (to look like the yolk) so it would be our egg on toast desert for Easter dinner.
Looks great! But I think that's another challenge that Yukihira should have lost. The other cake look bomb!
This is the most critical I've ever seen you be of a Food Wars recipe 😂
Even though I’ll probably never attempt to make this u did a splendid job 😂😂
I didn't know this was a real dessert till I saw it in a bakery today. Then I look at my phone and see that Paul's made it 🤯
i would probably modify the recipe so that it incorporates more traditional yule log ingredients, just to make it easier to work with, but still try and keep the spirit of yukihira's concoction
You'll go- ... I'm just gonna start already funny off the bat for looks good as usual thanks chef pk for the awesome video
I'm so happy that you made this! I wonder how it'll taste with the charcoal bake, though. Do you have the recipe written? Would like to make this one day.
I don't have a fully written one quite yet other than what you see in the description. The written ones end up being too long for the description :( I'm working on getting them onto a website
Since you mentioned how much the citrus helped the flavor, I wonder if adding the juice of the orange to the “white” cream early would both improve the flavor and preserve the color.
I could see that for sure
Paul throw out that old blander and get a new one for sauces in the future. Otherwise always love your videos and once I gat my home sorted I will be trying to make some of the stuff shown on your channel
You made it! And it looks amazing!
NO PAUL
You finesse her ice cream
hey chef pk so im an abled home cook that likes to recreate anime foods at home aswell i had a intercranial aneurysym burst at the start of covid when i just discovered my passion for cooking but i still practice my recipes even tho i lost my left side of my body functions my fave dish was the mapo tofu with the meatball with the moon inside its really good i love seeing youre creations with the recipes i currently cannot cook keep up the great work
Respect, keep cooking!
I cook when i can like simple yummy dishes like japanese curry kakiage curry udon karaage and stuff but anime food its the best
Yeah, that base is a little bit of a game changer for me, I will be trying it. I'd probably go for a simple white chocolate and put an extra fine layer in the middle. For the filling, split white chocolate and mint butter cream in to two batches. Add Coco powder for the outside...
Well Someone is sleeping in the couch tonight hahahah...
I would try this.....provided somebody made this for me :D
THE BLOWTORCH TOOK ME OUT THOUGH! Was not expecting that.
Now time to whip out the Chainsaw and Dynamite to make the other cake
Me: *Stuck on ss3*
This guy: uploads ss5things
Breaks ice cream stick
"now with your health violation in hand"
Can you try making bread from Yakitate! Japan?
this takes so much time compared to how rushed season 5 was
Thanks for making this :-). I think I'll stick with a Baileys choc ripple log this year...
Yeah, no. I’ll stick to my Yule log.
I put merengue mushrooms, green tea pine needles, and pistachio marzipan leaves on it. But now I want to look for a way to add citrus to it. Maybe orange extract in the filling?
Almond cake with coffee whipped cream filling, chocolate ganache, and slivered almonds and meringues for the fungi.
Then lightly dust with powdered sugar.
You did a great job by recreate the foof from shokugeki no soma😁👍🏻
This chef deserves a ton of viewers and Merry Christmas🎄
Citrus bae was a fail! I wonder if you made it again in a similar manner again, but added butter or flour as you saw fit (ie the crumble and oxidized uh, gray stuff that wasn't delicious)? It wouldn't be 100% Food Wars, but it would taste better... If anything, the chocolate bomb technique is probably the best idea for this...I'd love to see that over ice cream!
Hi Chef? Just wanted to get your take on something I was experimenting with yesterday.
So, I was trying to use mung beans and cauliflower to try to make like a lentil consistency to thicken up a curry. I think it was a reasonable idea that I just didn't execute properly. Any thoughts?
When you friends (viewers) don't laugh at ur puns 0:10
0:36 someone had to do this
*MEGALOVANIA INTENSIFIES*
Have a Happy good good Christmas
I think if you try to adapt the recipe it might work out nicely. No need for the artistry in my opinion, just add the citrus fruit to the vanilla rice layer and make regular coffe crumble as a line on top of the cake and this might be really good...
9:29 lmao just subtly flexing your really nice dalstrong knife
I want one real bad lol. But I also dont want a knife from China.
Wait wait wait, I'm not a chef or an expert...but avacado in a cake?
Soma and erina fight in real life 😂
How about you make momo’s rose apple tart and cake rolll ; rindu’s alligator pepper dish and erina’s souffle pancake
Hey, I was wondering: Have you ever seen the movie "God of Cookery" by (and with) Stephen Chow? It's kinda-sorta a live-action Shokugeki no Soma film, despite the fact that it came out 16 years before the manga.
hey chef! i have an idea, could you recreate the food that keiko makes for yusuke from yu yu hakusho? it looked like a beef special dish with miso soup, and i’d love to see your interpretation of it from one of my favorite animes! ☺️
The Yu Yu hakasho throw back would be nice
To be honest ChefPK i never imagined that yam could give that consistency to the dough, i will try to make the cake for our christmas dinner, have a nice weeken and thank you for preparing the recipe Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎆🎆🎆🎆☃️☃️☃️
Best of luck! I will advise you, make a regular frosting lol
@@CHEFPKR thanks for the advice and for wishing me luck ChefPK cakes are not my thing but i will still try
