I watch your videos and enjoy them immensely. My first (and last) bike was a 1970 Honda 100 street bike which I bought brand new for $300. I quit riding in order to support a growing family and never got back to it. So, I ride vicariously through your videos. Thanks. One last thing. In my 79 years I've learned a lot of things. One is a very fine, and refined, assortment of swear words to use when I get frustrated. I've seen your irritation expressed with "gee whiz" and the like. Would be happy to loan you some new ones.😄
I have a 325 and didn’t find an air/fuel screw I found a plug? Now I’m going to try and pull the plug (haha) on my Polaris? Thanks really enjoying your videos they inspire me to get up off my duff and get something accomplished. Your progression as a mechanic is really inspiring. Keep up the awesome work and Thanks from all of us who enjoy your videos.
Should be able to drill, and grab it with an easy out, or even pop plug out with a screw to reveal the adjustment. So many company's did, do this... Frustrating
Joe ... i have never worked on a motor in my life, but I feel like I could rebuild a carb because ive watched your videos for so many years. so relaxing and enjoyable .... i want a garage just like you some day ... much love joe - keep it up!!
They make it look easy because they do it every day for a living. If you are not mechanical I think you will find it to be much more difficult than it looks. Just getting to the carb in the first place.
Nice to see you back working on a Polaris quad! They can be pretty aggravating to work on but man those older ones they are tanks. I have a 350L 2 stroke and the thing just won’t die
Because of Joe's videos I was able to get my 92 Yamaha Warrior back on the trails after sitting for 6 years. A cheap hour meter would greatly help with maintenace on that Polaris.
Hey there my son and law has the exact machine but his isn’t 4x4 and I have the 500 version and 4x4 and out start button is the kill switch, just push up on it when it’s in the middle run position..first time commenting but have been watching your videos for a while now and I am glad to see the younger generations working on things.
I put a della 36k btu mini split (from amazon) in my 30x40x12 shop and it’ll keep it nice and chilly in there on these 100+ degree days. Super simple to install too.
What a buy for $600. I’m amazed that considering the mechanical work, video editing, and everything else you have to do, that you can put out a video about every three days. You’re certainly a hard working person. Lol, Vinnie had to make a pit stop.
Been a while since I've been to the channel, due to things such as life. Almost forgot how good this channel is. Your work, and knowledge, is second to none. Not to mention all the filming you do. I don't think people understand how hard that has to be, especially by yourself. Well done!
Yikes, only 2002, when you pull off the seat looks like 1960s worth of rust and dirt buildup. Great Job, Great Video, your patience and knowledge are amazing. Nice day for a ride. YES and the real star of the show 2Vinnie
I haven't finished the video yet, but my Xplore which is a very similar machine, you push up on the run position of the red "STOP RUN STOP" button to start it. My ignition is just a main power switch...
Not sure if you are using it, but GUNK Carburetor & Parts Cleaner is one of the best cleaners on the market. A 3 quart can will even come with a basket to hold parts. Give it a try if not already using it, it will make the carbs look almost brand new. I don't use anything else!
Check the on & off kill switch position and the contacts need to be barely bent up to touch the plate more inside of that ignition key switch. And spray it with contact CRC contact cleaner not just WD-40 Joe. Check the fuse and voltage rectifier relay box on it to.
Again great videos, just some info, WD40 great for a lot of things, but CRC QD Electronic cleaner is a better choice for connectors and other Electronics.
Had one just like this I sold a few years back after my son was born. Worst thing I did. I loved that machine. Good to see it getting some TLC even if you’re not a fan of it
I'm working on a 330 magnum now with a blown engine, it looks almost identical to that machine, my problem is I don't know a lot about them and I'm learning as I go, should be interesting.
You made out good there Joe. Nice seeing you getting something going your way for a change. You know you should look into one of them EG4 split solar AC units so you could add you some heat and air that garage with a option to add solar to it so you don't burn up that high dollar electric bill. Could be a good option for you 😉😉😉
Yes. There are a bunch of negative comments on his videos, criticizing how he buys, diagnoses, repairs, cleans and even revs.... If these experts are so great, why are they watching anyway? These should be working on their own channels or using their expert skills making a fortune on perfect restorations. Bunch of frustrated old geezers. I think Joe does really well on his buys and puts just the right amount of investment into these abused derelicts. The jawflappers don't get that Joe working in his garage with simple tools and common sense are what makes his channel so approachable and popular.
Joe, you'd be amazed at how easy a parts washer would've cleaned up this carb both inside and out. All that schmootz on the bottom of the float bowl would've cleaned right up with the built-in brush where the solvent is pumped in. It's painful watching you try to clean these up without one.
Gotta say that I'm very impressed with your level of work! Your demeanor and enthusiasm sure keeps us wanting to watch! It's nice that you take us thru each procedure and method of repair making us feel like we're part of it all! You certainly have a God given talent to fix things that people give up on! Question, do you after sell most of what you fix cause I can't see you keeping it all? Certainly enjoy you channel keep up good work chum!
It's has A bad solenoid switch it sounds like to me also. Try turning both switches on after cleaning it with contact cleaner and bending up those two separate contacts and try trip start the solenoid switch until it fires off.
Good job to make this video. I have 2003 Polaris Magnum 330 which is almost the same as yours. I have a question that at the 38 minutes in this video. What the smoke came from? Because I have similar issue. I found there are always a small oil leak between the engine and exhaust. I am going to replace the exhaust gasket and see if it resolved the oil leak issue.
Carb Screw Trick-when the carb screw heads are stuck or striped just tap them right on the x pattern. They’re pretty soft and you can mash the head a little to close the phillips pattern and the screwdriver will get a better bite.
Push up on the red button on the left side of the handlebars the on and off switch. I found the same bike for 24 years and every person I let ride it can't figure out how to start it. Lol!!
I have one of these tore apart in my garage right now. I paid $400 but it's in way worse shape than what you bought. As someone else said, my start button is the red switch on left grip. Put in middle and push up on it. That may not be the original ignition switch if it turns to start, those came a few years later. Yes the carb placement REALLY SUCKS! Mine had a chinese carb and the one I bought on ebay and rebuilt just dumps too much fuel in so I bought another import carb. It bogs on top end but the plug boot does not snap on so I'm hoping it just needs a new one. The shaft in the shifter is also known to snap in half. It's just a 1/4" round bar don't be like me and pay $10 for a new factory part 🙄 This was meant to be a cheap starter atv for my 15 year old daughter and it's not working out so well but I'll get it done.
Hey Joe how's it going buddy looks like this one's going your way pretty much think you got a hell of a deal. By the way those two wires on that for the front axle is not exactly how that works you know it does have a ring and pinion in there that does most of it those two wires are for the lockers, you are right though without those and the lockers working that one will not lock into place. Anyhow I hope you and your family are all doing well, thanks for sharing.
dang that passed the vinni test left him in the dust. the do-it-yourself little heat pumps are really nice and they heat too if you don't get like minus a ton there
Joe, with all due respect, where the hell do you live where you got snow and seasons but no rust? Like..us Michiganders are watching these videos and listening to our happiness physically rusting outside. Also, where are you finding these "Beaters" that are, lets face it, better than some of our cars?
If I remember right thoes contacts on the key side have a spring behind them to make good connection. I'd try pulling switch back apart and see if those copper contacts push in then pop back out
Perhaps one of the pins in broken inside the ignition switch housing? When you showed the switch. I could not believe that an engineer would have used a connector like that..
I watch your videos and enjoy them immensely. My first (and last) bike was a 1970 Honda 100 street bike which I bought brand new for $300. Good Sunday morning! Coffee and a new 2vintage video! Love the channel!
I've gotta say your videos are awesome. I watch these in the morning when I'm havin my coffee. Keep em coming
Thanks for watching!
Me too!
Click on his channel's name and take a look at all of the videos he's made over the years. He's come a long way.
@@sandmanbub I've watched quite a few of these
I've been subscribed for some time now
Sweet sounding 4X4 for $600, an ignition switch, and a carb clean. Pretty much just suffering from neglect. Great quality video.
Nice to see you back working on a Polaris quad! They can be pretty aggravating to work on but man those older ones they are tanks. I have a 350L 2 stroke and the thing just won’t die
The more polarises you work on the more I'm glad I still ride an O2 Yamaha bear tracker
MORE POLARISES OUT THERE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
Yup man, I work on a ton of POSaris's, love my 03 Rincon!
@@dozervin1 Because before CFMOTO they were the cheapest out there.

You did good on this buy. It doesn't always work out this well and I'm glad it did for u this time.

😂Vinnie had to “get light” to keep up😂😂😂

Can't believe you clean it before you worked on it. GOLD. I enjoy your videos mate . Keep up the good work from down under. 👍
Dig it when he cleans it first. Always feels like a fresh start. Bravo
Love seeing the tear down of different atvs really gives some insight into what we might run into if buying a similar one.

Seller: Yes Joe, all it needs is the carb cleaned, new plug.., and you're all set.
No need for Vinny to give it a few sniffs, it's golden.
😅😊😂
Good that the quad was made to work & particularly good that the dog has made it into the video again!

2V, rolled the dice and made your pass! A winner! Congrats!
At the end of the day the great news is you can look back and see what you have accomplished for the day. Thanks for the post
As other viewers have said. It’s great when you clean it up before getting into the repair of it. Great video. Thx.
I haven't finished the video yet, but my Xplore which is a very similar machine, you push up on the run position of the red "STOP RUN STOP" button to start it. My ignition is just a main power switch...
Most relatable in a while, so many of these style quads on the market.

Great find again, luckily great to see this one doesnt need engine out lol Big Up!
I love your videos they have taught me a ton about all different kinds of engines.
You should try Alco ATV spray when you power wash. Works wonders.

That dog is rapid fast bro lol
Another great video. Just a little maintenance goes a long way.
first start sounded better than any other engine I've heard so far. Usually clankin and bangin.
Great job as always Joe. Love your videos. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming.

Glad you painted the wheels. Wish you did more restoration/clean up on these projects
