- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- Episode 1 of House of the Dragon is in the books AND IT WAS SO GOOD...come checkout my review of each major scene, what that could mean for the future of House of the Dragon, character trajectories, how Game of Thrones and Aegon the Conqueror plays into this plot, and why Patty Considine is doing so well as King Viserys Targaryen already!

If Aegon dreamed about the others and he felt like they were a looming threat to the world, why didn't he stress the importance of having a good relationship with House Stark given their proximity to the wall? Also was I the only one who realized that the children of the forest were watching Rhaeneyra & Alicent from the Weirwood in the garden?
I feel like he did, after all, Aegon, Jaeherys and Rhaenyra had close relations with the Northern houses in the book. Problem came that this knowledge probably wasn’t passed down during the Dance as Aegon III was just a child when his mother and uncle died.
I think his relationship with House Stark was pretty decent honestly. They were all on the same page, so I can't really say it was strained (of course until the Mad King decided to blow it up).
AS for the Children question, I didn't see them! I looked real quick and didn't see them...HMM...
Otto Hightower is giving me major Tywin Lannister meets Littlefinger vibes and I’m living for it
It's giving us all life, I think!
Great breakdown! That birth scene was gut wrenching, especially when she realized what was happening. I like Paddy's acting, it was nice to see the relationship between he and Aemma since she doesn't have much role in the book. I'm hoping to see more of Rhaenys and Corlys in the future. I would also like to see something of Rhea Royce too. Shouldn't they be using blunted weapons in the tourney? Dude killing the other one in the tourney, after pulling him off the horse would be bad in the books. Knights were supposed to act with honour. Just a thought.
Well in the first season of Thrones the Mountain tried the same thing but King Robert stopped it. The King wasn't there this time to stop it.
I thought choosing to continue combat was a bit crazy.
@@biggie4380 True.
@@vCLOWNSHOESv Yeah, true.
@@lilitharam44 There's zero honor in that but then again they're painting a picture of a less than honorable character.
It was dope AF I was sooo nervous not gonna lie. I will get over Daemon looking like an elf sigh. It was That good🔥
I'm so glad you think it's as dope as I do. I love it.
@@TheBattProductions Total geek out😆 You should see me watching Marvel
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was hoping for your upload. Just finished episode one, haven't read Fire and Blood yet, so you are a life saver. You let me understand it better! Thank you
Oh you know I'll be commenting on these videos. I almost uploaded again tonight, but instead will likely have another video from Ep1.
I love the start of this series and I can't wait to watch more.
Just started watching House of the Dragon and rushed here to see your reviews.. Back when I was in 11th grade 4 years back I used to watch your content regularly... Just so much stuff happened since then.. It feels nostalgic to be back.. Good to see you doing okay Kev
Welcome back...I'm sad you left, but THRILLED you're back to watch some vids now that GOT is done and HOTD is going on. I really, really appreciation it my friend.
I can't wait to see your what-if videos about House of Dragon. I learned so much from them with Game of Thrones! This is really your thing!
I really can't wait to do some WHAT IFs for HOTD...I didn't do them much with GOT any longer as I thought creatively I did most scenarios - but with HOTD, I think there's a *ton* of meat on the bones!!!!
When we saw Tywyn trying to give his daughter away she was a woman in her late 30s or early 40s, Alysant Hightower looks like she is supposed to be mid-teens.
Whoring out your daughter is bad under any circumstances, but it feels far worse when it is a girl than a grown woman.
Hearing the prophecy of A Song of Ice and Fire, was heartbreaking, the story was passed down from king to heir, meaning the last person to have heard it was probably Rhegar, he died at the trident before The Mad King did, so the prophecy would have died out about 15 years before it was needed.
That's when we saw him doing it - for sure. But of course he did it to Cersei when she was a teenager as well to Robert Baratheon (but to be fair, Cersei was super into the idea by that time).
I think it's fair to say the scroll Rhaegar read that one time was the prophecy of A Song of Ice and Fire. I LOVE IT.
Excellent I was waiting for you’re take
Seven Hells! This Episode was absolutely incredible having listened and read the entire book 📕
Omg 😱 soo many huge things coming!
Daemon is as compelling as he is in the book 📕 big big moments ahead he’s not completely evil nor completely good a complex character with deep dark shades of grey.
And even for non book readers it sets everything up quite nicely it puts the chess pieces in place!
And some fabulous Easter Eggs 🥚
IT WAS SO GOOD! I THOUGHT IT WAS AMAZING.
Daemon is so fascinating. Truly. I hope lots of people who hated on Daemon are eating some crow right now.
I love being back in Westeros. and I love that I have new questions already. Like, what does a dragon smell like and do they all smell the same? 🤔
I feel so good about being back in Westeros. I love the smell aspect. They've never specifically said they had a smell, but I'm glad they are confronting that since...I mean, they have to! They're beings!
a like and comment number100 just for the algo.. I can't believe I didn't stick my nose into this one. I always try to because I'm a big fan of this world, but you know that already. Thanks for making it easy with the audio books that I'm going through for the 3rd time in whole and many more times after episodes
I appreciate you my friend - helping the algo!
You're the best dude. Thank you for being supportive and sending some love (per usual)
It's back baby! And so am I lol I noticed one moment when you misspoke and said "Targaryens" when you meant dragons, when talking about the dragon pit and how that led to them getting smaller... and now I can't help but imagine an alternate Planetos where the Targaryens just kept getting shorter and shorter through the generations because of the dragon pit and I'm just giggling... Danny looking up at Tyrion... Drogo just punting Viserous... I'm going to hell...
Did I mis speak?
Food for thought...
So glad your reviews are back! I missed them! And ya, such a solid premiere
Thanks for being back my brotha! I can't wait to talk more HOTD with you
The most emotional scene for me was the funeral. I thought the c section scene was over the top. However, it was a pivotal scene for many, and so I am fine with being wrong. Matt Smith will always be my favourite, but dang, all of them were absolutely great! Terrific casting!
The C Section was super over the top - no doubt. Probably way too graphic, but showrunners clearly let us know they're going to be as graphic as GOT ever was...and it had its purpose. Hard choices are needed when discussing the future of Westeros...it brings me back to the Aemon quote "Love is the death of duty..." I think Viserys, thinking about his responsibility to have a proper heir for the fight against the NIght King eventually, wants to ensure his line moves on with a male heir - so he chooses to save his future heir despite his love dying...but boy, was he cold about it.
They did a great job and I am so happy.
@@TheBattProductions 🤗
Please, please, please do a new What if concerning this time period. Maybe What if Viserys dies childless and Daemon becomes king. or What if the Council chose Rhaenys to be queen
You know I will :;clap clap::
What if Alicent and Rhaenyra remained close/never became enemies? or What if Alicent realized her father was just using her as a pawn and turned against him?
In this episode it is clear that aegon conquered seven kingdoms for fighting against the winter against the night king
Well not completely - but it's clear that's part of it, yes.
@@TheBattProductions 💓
Is it just me or this the first time we’ve ever seen a weirwood tree in Kingslanding? Cause I don’t think we ever saw one in GoT
I think it's the first time we've seen something like that in KL, yes.
Love your channel so much!
Thank you so much Kaelyn! I really appreciate the kind words. I'm happy to have you as a Batterman (cheesy, but still!)
You're back, baby! I love it
I never left my bro!
I finally.... Today!!! Binged watched all of the HOUSE OF THE DRAGON so..... You will see more of me lol. First episode was great. It sucked me right back into the world. I liked seeing rymiyra and Alisant friendship and all the key landmarks we all love and remember. For me it was 10/10 :)
ISN'T IT SO GOOD MELLY!?
I Loved when Viserys got Otto ass about Daemon! He called his ass out!! Props to the King👏👏🔥🔥
The King acted like a KING that's for sure.
@@TheBattProductions Indeed
I cried a little bit during the episode. Beautiful written.
Is a whole thing on their own. Nothing like the last seasons of Game of Thrones
Beautifully written. Beautifully acted.
Honestly, it's absolutely off to an amazing start and it's killing me.
Super broo 🔥🔥
What an awesome place
Love Beesbury and Corlys who was not drinking like the others fully noted. OMG my brain is spinning
I love the name Beesbury. One of my favorite names in the whole book is Braxton Beesbury.
@@TheBattProductions I'm obsessed with bees cuz my name is Melissa and means honeybee. Lots of mythology with my name around bees. Braxton is cool ikr I dig how you think 👊
Excellent breakdown as always my friend. But in Otto's defense, the King did offer his brother a chance to tell his side and he didn't deny saying it. All he said was that everyone grieves in their own way. He could've set the record straight.
I guess Viserys could have maybe not strated the conversation with threatening to cut Daemons tongue out.
I totally agree - but that's what could be so tragic about it I think. Like, same thing happened for Jaime...all his life, Jaime just called him Kingslayer and he could've told them what the Mad King was saying...but they had already judged him guilty, so he said what's the point?
I suppose he did explained it the one time to Brienne and Robert when prompted in unique ways, but meh.
So wonderful.
@@hhhggbg3000 oh for sure! That goes back to Kevin's point of Viserys judging him guilty before really even trying to hear Daemon's side
Yes I love how Paddy is playing Viserys! Way better than GRRM wrote him! He really understands how dangerous the iron throne is & how vulnerable the Targaryen dynasty is. I can’t believe people are comparing Daemon to Ramsay & joffery like how? I’m also mad that did the ice & fire prophecy when a Targaryen wasn’t in the throne & Jon didn’t unite anything but wildlings & the north after the battle of the bastards & they only had 2 of the 7 kingdoms in the long (but really short) night! & the Vale cake for Sansa! There was no prince or princess that was promised or Lightbringer! The only good thing was Aegon’s conquest wasn’t just for power but for the hood of the realm. The queen’s death was hard to watch but I loved the episode! Corlys & Rhaenys are couple goals! The only thing I didn’t like was the CGI could’ve been better for the dragons & the wigs for little Laenor & Laena but other than that it was amazing!
Paddy is doing so well. It's insane. I think it was such a good thing and I really dug the episode. Lived up to my expectations and just super happy about it.
@@TheBattProductions agreed can’t wait to take this ride with you!
the throne specifically cuts him when makes damon leave and stops him from being heir. getting cut there symbolizes that it was a bad move that it was him miss handling the power of the throne aka the power of being king. when the throne cuts us its cus u cant handle its power is basically the symbolization of the throne.
Absolutely. Good take!
You forgot to mention, how Princess Rhaenys was (again) reminded of herself not have been chosen the heir of King Jaehaerys at the tourney by her uncle Lord Baratheon and how Lord Corlys pushing her claim to the Iron Throne after the death of Queen Aemma and her son Baelon noting that she already had a male heir unlike Viserys.
Oh I didn't forgot my friend - the video was just running a bit long, heh. I'll absolutely be talking about Rhaenys more as she is definitely going to be manipulating the game very soon..cough Alicent cough.
Unrelated, are u still doing the what if series?
Hey broski!
Loosely. I haven't consistently done them because I wanted to focus on other videos, but I'll certainly still do some as scenarios come up and feel good to me.
Promise me Rhaenera Promise me 🤣🤣🤣 gonna have me lmao all week over that one
haha
I loved it
IT WAS SO GOOD RIGHT?!
@@TheBattProductions 100% but I hope they don't move to fast I hope at least 5 seasons but 4 is what I think
@@lawrencereid2767 I pray it's slow and sexayyyy
@@TheBattProductions lmao if you think about it ....that could have been two episodes,
You know what I wonder.. If that catspaw is the broken sword of the Last Hero. Like they turned into a dagger after it broke cuz idk maybe it was used that way after it broke 🤔
That's a fascinating theory. I like it!
@@TheBattProductions There's gotta be a reason it is so important. It was n book Sam realized dragon glass on Dragonstone too. Too much attention for just an heirloom
No Maiden Vault yet or am I the only nerd that was happy about that detail
So is rhayna going to dragonstone next episode?
Good question. I don't think so, but I suppose she could since it's her place now ::shrug::
I thought it was amazing!!!
IT WAS SO GOOD
Right now I’m not a fan of Daemon. He goes too far, cheats at sports, acts like a prick, and doesn’t take his role as council members seriously
Fair analysis, hah.
Why would anyone need to watch this if theyve already seen the episode?
Why did you watch it?
@@philosophynerdlady yah
Because I mention some tidbits you may not have noticed, or given context to conversations you may not have thought too deeply about.
hated it. think the casting sucks.
Okay dokay
How about ...No?!?
