Nice to see that there are people out there who would go out of their way go get other people (especially kids) riding. I used to work a bit with a charity that gave free bikes to a refugee families in Ukraine, and I miss it since I moved.
On a hydro-mechanical brakes -- I used to have ones made by Giant with master cylinder on the stem and it was much more hassle than it was worth. Looking forward to your review of these -- rocking BB5s still, wouldn't mind an upgrade and whole hydraulic STIs are definitely out of the budget.
thank you!
Just a heads up. Ive worked on a lot of these sub $100 Walmart BMX bikes , and if anyone is going to pick one up for their kid, skip these Huffy Rockits, and pay a little more for the Kent Ambush. They are a sginificantly better quality bike for not much more with a larger frame that will last longer as your kid grows.
I did a quick google on each bike, and I think you're right, only about $20 more for the Ambush.
Coming back to watch the entire video.
Open the door to the house next time let the air conditioned air from the house cool the garage down some. Also most cameras have a wind reduction feature that would probably help so you can run a fan.
No point in suffering in the heat doing something you enjoy.
that's a good idea!
These would make for good live videos. Viewers can give suggestions and input while you're working.
I'm wanting to do just that, in fact I just learned how to stream my gopro live to youtube, I just need a nice screen like maybe an ipad to read incoming comments. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@BruceChastain will definitely watch it if it's at a time I'm available to do so.
Haha that bottom bracket was screaming on that short ride. In light of a full service i would have layed the bike sideways and tried my best to get some sort of oil penetrating fluid etc. In the bottom bracket bearings.
You actually do have to be careful which cleaners you use on chains. Its a kids bike so who cares but some cleaners can cause hydrogen embrittlement and a chain could become weakened and snap when we're depending on them most. Chains snapping or otherwise coming off under high power efforts is how many people have their "big one"
yeah I was thinking about that too
