Thanks for leaving in the parts where you were struggling. Most people would edit those bits out but I think it's really important to show that not everyone is a pro athlete who can smash out an eight hour epic and enjoy every minute of it. Great to get an average guys perspective 👍
Nice Joe. I appreciate that. I feel like there is a bit of pressure to make everything look amazing. Saying that, I'd also feel guilty and a bit irresponsible if someone turned up for that route thinking it was going to be easy. Routes like that are tough and it would be easy to get caught out. Glad you enjoyed the vid bud and thanks for taking the time to comment 👌
Done this 3 times now including the pure Lollipop. Know it’s a bit longer but much prefer the assent via the Coulin Forest and the tiny bothie. Still get to do both descents.
Ah nice. I've not done that ascent. I'll deffo be back to Torridon, maybe not for the full loop though. That's not a criticism of the loop, just a criticism of my fitness 😆
Ah cheers man. I really appreciate that. Just been trying to learn editing by trail and error. Pleased with how they come out these days 👍 Thanks for taking time to comment 😁
Each time I've done this ride I've been surprised that even if I still felt okay at the top of Coire Lair I'd be totally beat up and knackered by the end of the descent. I'd still wouldn't want to skip the Coire Lair section though. There is a variation on the route over Bealach a Coire Gairbh that gives the most epic view of the day but it also has the most epic (brutal) carry up. It's hard to think of a better home run than that flowy descent back to Annat
Ah man that was absolutely epic! So well filmed and edited with beautiful crisp, Clear footage and audio! Wow Torridon has got to be the pinnacle of Scottish mountain biking, I definitely have to get over some time from Ireland! I think you are very harsh on yourself, Most non professional bikers would be cautious coming down those loose descents, I thought you were riding very well! All the best, Adrian
Been looking forward to this one Jamie. My favourite place to ride in the whole of Scotland - I head there at least twice a year for a few days. I’ve done the classic loop a couple of times but never the lollipop. Achnashellach can be done as a smaller loop (Andrew McTR has done it) and I’d recommend that as the best way to experience it. I love Annat as an ‘up & back’ cycle, just as you said. Much nicer descending it with a good energy level left! So glad you posted this but I do feel for you, suffering the lollipop route for our entertainment! Nice one!
Ha ha Simon. Yup, the suffering was real. I love Torridon as well, just not that specific route. I saw the McTrail rider video of the other Achneschellach route and it looks great. I'll deffo be back! Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍
Thank you. It was touch and go whether we could get the drone up in the wind. So pleased that we found a couple of weather windows as a GoPro alone can't really do Torridon justice!
Well I’ve just got back from Torridon and we did this route on the e-bikes. Have to say it was definitely a hard day on the bike but thankfully blessed with great weather. Loved the decents but the climb from Torridon does feel like it goes on for an eternity, and hiking an web is defo no fun. Was even lucky enough to bump into Andrew (Mctrail rider) on the trail and after the ride and had a good chat.
@@streetpigeonmtb with lots of pain, sweat and tantrums. Fair to say it’s the last time my mate agrees to do a mountain ride with me. I loved it though. Probably didn’t help walking the beinn alligin range the day before.
@@streetpigeonmtb yeah I think I’d just ride/walk up a decent and come back down if I went again, lots of miles of pushing bikes on the lollipop route for what descents you get. Still least I’ve ticked it off.
Did this the other month. Previously done the the classic route but that initial descent to acnashellach is just brutal. Certainly tested my 140mm suspension. Good effort
Well done Jamie and Joe for riding the very rough gnar through Torridon, the scenery is spectacular. Had often thought about trying this buy from Achnashelach, could possibly manage rock slabs but the chunk on the rest of it would finish me off! 😂Drone shots showed off the views nicely, thanks for sharing 😁🤙
Cheers for that, I will take a look at your video. The DJI 3 mini pro is the one I’ve been looking at for the follow me function so I can record myself crash on the downhills 😂
Others may have said this but the full Torridon Loop is better than the Lollipop (imo). Climb up by River Coulin is fire road to Tea Hut Bothy then part ride, part push to the top of Achnashellach decent. Misses to worst of the lollipop hike-a-bike and you get the best of the descent. Even if you just want the descent, rather than push up, take the fire road from Achnashellach station to the Tea Hut Bothy then ride/push up. Nice video.
I've done the classic loop and the lollipop loop and don't think the first part of the lollipop descent is worth the xtra hike a bike. The best part of the descent is lower down and you do that in both loops. Also you get to visit the lovely little teahouse bothy.

What an epic ride Jamie. Well done for roughing it out until the end 💪 and thanks for getting those awesome drone shots for us.
Cheers Darren. It was an epic. Tough day on the bikes for sure! Thanks buddy 👌

I’m with you on that, the descent down to Achnashellac station is still one of my favourite in the UK.
@edbackes2234 agreed. One of best out there. Those slabs!
I appreciate your honesty as much as your great videography - nice one dude. What a location!
Ah cheers man. I really appreciate that. Just been trying to learn editing by trail and error. Pleased with how they come out these days 👍 Thanks for taking time to comment 😁
Rode the loop in May, brutal day and we ran out of daylight so done the last decent back to torridon in the dark with no lights 😮😂😂😂😂 love it !!!!
Aw mate! That's brutal. Its a tricky descent when you can see it 😆
It's nice to see someone in the thrall of type 2 fun as it happens!
Ha ha. Mostly type 2 and a small section of type 3 😆
Magic as always man. That place is truly beyond belief, will never forget my time there.
Deffo bud. I'll not be doing that specific loop but I will be doing some more riding there for sure ❤️
Awesome effort from You both. Well done for battling through. Amazing footage. Thank you.
Cheers mate. It was one tough day. Glad we stuck it out though. We were certainly rewarded with some stunning views to end the day!
Heading up there next week & hoping to do the Classic loop. Hope it stays dry like in your route. Great vid
Nice. Hope you have good weather. It's an incredible place to ride MTB 👌

That's sounds amazing. And brutal! Yup, the Annat descent always delivers. Absolutely love it mate!
McTrail rider and Danny M make things look so easy , Like your vids
Thanks mate. Yeah, skilled riders always make things look simple. It's awesome to see what they can achieve on the bikes. Very inspiring!
Thanks for sharing
Nae bother 👌

Ah mate. What a lovely comment. I can't tell you what that means. I really appreciate you taking time to write that mate. Thank you 😊

Quality video mate, drone shots are cracking 👌
Thank you. It was touch and go whether we could get the drone up in the wind. So pleased that we found a couple of weather windows as a GoPro alone can't really do Torridon justice!
Always good to get out of your comfort zone every now and again :)
It is indeed 👍

Ah brilliant. Yeah, I've no idea how you hiked an eeb! Fair play to you 👏

@benpulsar13 ha ha! Probably not. I've vowed never to do the classic again. 3 times and every time it's been brutal 😆
@@streetpigeonmtb yeah I think I’d just ride/walk up a decent and come back down if I went again, lots of miles of pushing bikes on the lollipop route for what descents you get. Still least I’ve ticked it off.
@benpulsar13 my thoughts exactly 💯
A fair shift Jamie and great footage for us to watch, the drone shots are fantastic👊
Thanks mate. I was so pleased to get some drone shots. Didn't think it was going to happen with the wind!
Did this the other month. Previously done the the classic route but that initial descent to acnashellach is just brutal. Certainly tested my 140mm suspension. Good effort
Nice one mate. And on 140mm! Fair play 🙌

No bother mate. It was some day! I'm not sure I handled it with dignity but it was still awesome nonetheless 👌
The lolipop loop is good but it misses out some of the best parts of that area. Shame the pub isn't doing fish and chips any more. 😂
I know! The pub has changed a bit. What other rides would you recommend up there?
Epic ride epic effort ....ebike next time around 😂😂 great vid 👌
Ha ha! Maybe 👌
That bunk house gives me the creeps 😮
I've never stayed the night in any bunkhouse... Think they'd all give me the creeps!
Simply epic
Cheers mate. It's some place 🙌
Oh my word
Such a cool place!
Can I ask what drone you use?
Hi there, it's a DJI Mini 3 Pro. I did a wee video about it that may be of use to you: ua-cam.com/video/dOyUBqbR41k/v-deo.htmlsi=D8lmsA9NKRoUcES2
Cheers for that, I will take a look at your video. The DJI 3 mini pro is the one I’ve been looking at for the follow me function so I can record myself crash on the downhills 😂
@jonesy5192 😆😆😆
@jonesy5192 so it's pretty good. Doesn't handle very high speed or fast switchbacks though 👍
Would you describe it as chunky?😂
Yes. Chunky. Did I mention that it was chunky? 😜
Others may have said this but the full Torridon Loop is better than the Lollipop (imo). Cheers mate. Yup, it's been mentioned but you are spot on. Deffo the better route 👍
Great video as usual. I love that you pushed through the chunky, loose and sketchy decent. White knuckle ridding. 🚵♂️ NICE!
Cheers mate. That was a really intense section. It felt like the ground was constantly moving 🙈
I've done the classic loop and the lollipop loop and don't think the first part of the lollipop descent is worth the xtra hike a bike. The best part of the descent is lower down and you do that in both loops. Also you get to visit the lovely little teahouse bothy.
Yeah, that makes sense 👍
