Zeek, just found this video from you. What ML release date? There is no reason to set a higher resolution because you're going to need to cut 280 lines to make the image 1080p which is the industry standard, And, I suspect the HDMI connection to a monitor will not work. It's a 1920x1080 world and so one should only shoot 1080p -- which by the way is not what the wrongly named 1080 actually shoots. (When you show setting up 1920x1080 your camera screen shows 1920x1280.)
Hey Zeek! Thanks for another great video. I don't seem to have problems when using a monitor with EOS M. I notice you're using a coiled HDMI cable. Any cable that is coiled, even a straight cable coiled up, will create resistance hence dropped frames. I had problems until I stopped using long coiled up HDMI cables. As soon as I started using straight short HDMI cables I got almost perfect results. I use high quality 25cm HDMI cables and I'm not getting drop outs in 2.5k or 2.8k. Also the monitor and camera are powered separately to minimize voltage drops as well. Hope that helps.
Hey thanks for sharing! I've used a range of different cables, I just prefer the feel of coiled cables. The camera and Monitor were powered seperately. I'll look into getting the short one! Thanks :)

This is a huge help - for some reason I didn’t catch this detail while trying to find the best preset for monitoring. Having one weird issue though. I’ve got 3 EOS M cameras now all at the same firmware updates (202) and same ML builds. For some reason, one of them stops recording early, around 1-2 minutes in, while the others record continuously. All on the same ML settings and presets. Turns out when I remove the lens on the one that stops recording early, it records continuously as well. So the lens that came with it (Canon 18-55mm) seems to be the issue. It’s the only one that communicates with the camera. The other two lenses (Helios 58mm & 7 Artisans 12mm) don’t do this. You ever deal with anything like this?
Hi Zeek, basically I have no issues when I connect my EOS M to a Monitor or my Smartphone. Just the focus peaking is not working correctly.
