    Zeek, just found this video from you. What ML release date? There is no reason to set a higher resolution because you're going to need to cut 280 lines to make the image 1080p which is the industry standard, And, I suspect the HDMI connection to a monitor will not work. It's a 1920x1080 world and so one should only shoot 1080p -- which by the way is not what the wrongly named 1080 actually shoots. (When you show setting up 1920x1080 your camera screen shows 1920x1280.)

    Hey Zeek! Thanks for another great video. I don't seem to have problems when using a monitor with EOS M. I notice you're using a coiled HDMI cable. Any cable that is coiled, even a straight cable coiled up, will create resistance hence dropped frames. I had problems until I stopped using long coiled up HDMI cables. As soon as I started using straight short HDMI cables I got almost perfect results. I use high quality 25cm HDMI cables and I'm not getting drop outs in 2.5k or 2.8k. Also the monitor and camera are powered separately to minimize voltage drops as well. Hope that helps.

    • @ZeekEOSZ
      @ZeekEOSZ  3 роки тому

      Hey thanks for sharing! I've used a range of different cables, I just prefer the feel of coiled cables. The camera and Monitor were powered seperately. I'll look into getting the short one! Thanks :)

    This is a huge help - for some reason I didn’t catch this detail while trying to find the best preset for monitoring. Having one weird issue though. I’ve got 3 EOS M cameras now all at the same firmware updates (202) and same ML builds. For some reason, one of them stops recording early, around 1-2 minutes in, while the others record continuously. All on the same ML settings and presets. Turns out when I remove the lens on the one that stops recording early, it records continuously as well. So the lens that came with it (Canon 18-55mm) seems to be the issue. It’s the only one that communicates with the camera. The other two lenses (Helios 58mm & 7 Artisans 12mm) don’t do this. You ever deal with anything like this?

    • @ZeekEOSZ

In the preview it squishes the image to the left, with a bunch of pink and lines to the right. 2.5K/2.8K will have less noise, and it looks more fine. So if you're not using a monitor, then those are absolutely fine! The 2K mode does have a unique film look too it hard to describe. Grading in Davinci took no effort when set to rec 709, footage looks filmic, albeit cropped. So wide lenses are the way, or even stabilzed zooms for wild life.

      I have tried the EOS M with the Canon Webcam utility and it is not supported. The alternative is to use HDMI to usb capture card. The cheap no name brand works well with OBS streaming. I believe you can search on youtube with the keywords "magic lantern capture card" and you can find a video from
      Zulf Photography doing just that. He used the magic lantern to get rid of all of the graphics on the screen and outputs a clean HDMI video into OBS. You should also use magic lantern and turn off the 30 minute auto shut off settings too.
      I have use
      Zulf Photography example and have setup my EOS M as a webcam for zoom meetings (I used OBS virtual camera in zoom). One thing to note is that the mini HDMI port on the EOS M does not output audio. I think it is a physical limitation with the hardware. So you will need to get an external microphone connected to the computer.

      I have the Ninja V, mainly for my Sony Cameras. But with the EOS M it isn't compatible, won't work or show a feed.

    Hello, thank you very much for your videos, they are very helpful. But I have a problem with my Eos M. When using the hdmi output for streaming, the screen is not visible in 16: 9 format
    It has a cutout. I already checked the radio aspect, and everything is fine.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Zeek, it's amazing what you are doing with the eos m!! I was wondering, can magic lantern help the EOS M provide a 16:9 (preferably 1080p or 1080i) clean HDMI feed? (Without black bars on the sides)
    I tried with an old 550D and nothing seemed to help me on this matter :(

      @ZeekEOSZ  3 роки тому +1

      HDMI on the EOS M has now improved.
      You can get a clean feed by enabling clear overlays. As for resolution, the EOS M can't output 1080. There are no black bars with the Feelworld F5 Monitor I use. I've never used the 550D.

      @@ZeekEOSZ Do you know what resolution and frame rate sent out from the HDMI port of the EOS M? Are they varied with the settings of ML?
