Thanks for watching! Great question - it'll really depend on your pattern. (The Hilma hat starts with a provisional cast on so that you can work the brim ribbing & fold it in half to have a double layer to start with.) Often you'll start by casting on 2x the number of stitches that you want to end up with so you have 1x for the front & 1x for the back of your fabric.
GREAT question! Since the fabric is double-thick, the interior circumference of your garment will be smaller than the outside, so you may want to size up a bit for extra ease. (Also a good tip for chunky weight knits.) This also creates a very warm fabric, so keep that in mind! Happy knitting!
Hello! The even & odd chart rows are a little trickier if you're working double-knit colorwork flat - on wrong side rows, you'll need to reverse your colors (so Color 1 on your chart is worked in Color 2 and vice versa) to make the pattern come out correctly on the right side.
Thank you for teaching ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Does this affect the size of whatever you’re knitting? I have a couple sweater patterns Id love to make reversible

I was kinda getting it.. but in the final moments when you started talking about even and odd rows you completely lost me and I didn’t understand it
