I'm just so confused and shocked how this season got THAT BAD??? Like how did this happen..there are so many plotholes, every character is broken or is going through the same character development that they already had other seasons, Klaus casually gets SA d and a lot of the female characters are reduced to being moms... exc.. exc.. this is just so bad. There is no way that the writers even took a single look at the other seasons.. because what happened?
I think that guy in the video summed it up. They got locked in a room with nothing but a big old mirror of coke and had a party.....and wrote this sh!t and said there ya go...and Netflix, not known for their intelligent selection decisions, went for it. Netflix...the people who canceled The OA and The Punisher, but didn't have sense enough to send these writers back into a room sober and try again.
@@mayo4507yes, literally every major female character was a mother in this season. The only exception being Jennifer who stopped being a character at all after the second episode.
In the new timeline I think she just made Ray Claire’s bio dad now so I don’t think they would have to mention the original father but at the same time we don’t really have an explanation for their lives in the new timeline except the time jump 5 years later
The funniest part about the season for me was when Viktor was talking to Hargreaves. He tried to say that the world is not Black and White. He lives in the Grey. But based on the issue 5 realized at the end, you only have Black and White. Either continue the cycle trying to save the siblings and fail over and over again, or sacrifice yourself to give everyone else in the world a chance. Best part is you can tell the writers didn't realize they wrote that. Most of the characters really don't do anything to yield to the ending choice. They don't develop and make any real progress at all. Just trash
Swear to god, look at everybody around in background, damn there about erupt in laughter behind shim….😅 talk about awkward! i felt so sorry actors that day.
Viktor managing a whole business and still acting like an edgy teen towards that timeline's Reggie is crazy. They did the same thing making Allison too edgy in season 3. Reginald had a clear and concise plan of ending their apocalypse, a fool proof one at that, being he already acted upon it in many other timelines. In all of the timelines we've seen, the absence of any durango or marigold after Ben or Jennifer's deaths proves it dies with the user or lays dormant. Of course there's the other option of not letting any durango and marigold user to ever get in contact... Ben is even so down bad like Reginald said he'd be. However, by some divine intervention, Viktor still wants to be the hero.
Ain't no way they ended this season with Five, and Lila betraying Diego like that. I'm getting so tired of them butchering characters like this. Five would not have fallen for Lila like that. This is the man who spent 45 years alone to get back to his family and suddenly he doesnt even care about them? Five also killed Lila's parents, and she knew him when he looked 13. I don't think she's weird enough to do this either. The entire plotline was unnecesary and gave me the ick.
@@lailaalanna315thank you. Like people talk about how it’s weird but look at five during season 1. He spent 45 years trying to get back to his family and he got so lonely that he thought a mannequin was his gf. Lila is at least a real person and 7 years constantly on the run with no breaks? Like no shit they started developing feelings
@@Neon1880I can actually understand that, but in the end when five found a way home, he was like, nah, let’s stay here and hide it from her for half a year. He didn’t even think of her kids or his own family. When he came clean she was like “ok, this didn’t happen, I’m going back, I kind just used you because we were tired and lonely” , like hinting that what happened between them was only to confort each other and not because they were truly in love. But then, they decided to have five make a jealous scene and then when Diego asked her if she loved five she was like, “I don’t know” when just seconds ago she was like “no, this wasn’t real between us.”, like wth? They also died resenting each other. Also Five not trying to finde Ben and Jennifer to help save the world and instead wanting to run away with his brother’s wife is completely out of character.
Ray leaving Allison with zero explanation as to why was such a travesty. They really could've used him in the plot I think. A bunch of people believe they're in the wrong timeline. We know he's in the wrong timeline. It should've been that he started realizing that and left her to join or even help start that cult. He's shown to be a strong community organizer in season 2. He should've been a part of the final conflict. It would've hit a lot harder, and garnered sympathy for all these people who feel out of place (and should've been more sympathetic because they're right). Five telling them the truth about who is he in the first episode and then the show revealing he's just trying to take them down was disappointing because he KNOWS it's true, that the timelines have changed, but he's acting like they're crazy. It's all fucked.
@@HinataUchiha_22 honestly the show lost the plot on how these things work. The kids shouldn't exist after their parents are erased but somehow they do?? And if Ray is Claire's new bio dad, Claire is somehow still just Claire and not a completely different person with different genes?? If Claire isn't Ray's bio kid, did the bio dad just not be brought into existence in this timeline?? And why would Ray leave them, even if Claire isn't his? It's totally out of character. None of any of this makes sense
Even if they couldn’t get the actor, they could have made up a plot where he did join the keepers and we find out he lost his life in the last episode to the cleanse or something. It would suck seeing Allison not find him alive but its better than one throwaway line
Omg Ray becoming the movement leader would have ATEEE and it gives Allison some real internal conflict/character development by grappling with the choice that she made at the end of season 3 (continuity???). Was it worth it?
@@jennisagypsyexactly. The kids existing after the parents erased themselves would surely create the grandfather paradox all over again? I don’t get jt
The ending I was waiting for was 5 and Lila finding the original timeliness and prevent Ben from meeting Jen, or even Victor sacrficing himself and taking everyone's powers to save the world. But nope, stupid ending
I thought we were going to get a five sacrifice were he ends up stuck in the train system trying to find a solution forever bringing it back to the first season when he was stuck in a post apocalyptic world trying to come back
So true. I thought they about to call the megazord. When I originally saw the final episode was 1 hour I was hyped I was like okay they will fail first but last minute they gonna win. I mean it was time for luther to be the born leader, it was time for them to use their powers together (as hinted in season 2 ending apparently the closer they are together the more powerful the umbrella are - referenced in an article). Gonna see klaus actually call an army of the dead to fight (like season 2 intro), see allison explode that thing. 5 could have done the short time hop he did at the end of season 2 to save ben. literally anything but this. and what the fuck did hargreeves do to piss of his wife so much, they were living as the elite.
@@radinmansouri3074 Didn’t his wife know the cleanse would fix things? I mean, yes, she gives them the marigold which theoretically splits the timeline, but there was that bit of dialog before she died with him about it. It still doesn’t make any sense though. Another thing that’s dumb is that their home world should theoretically have been saved by the cleanse like Earth, but it was destroyed???
@Number16BusShelter She's $u1c1d@l and thinks the best solution is to end the world. Reggie puts up a pathetic fight, if you can call it that. He's reduced from this enigmatic man who selfishly raised a dysfunctional family to a sad lonely old fart. He and five were both completely ruined
@@Number16BusShelterI mean in defence of this season, they actually did the ending fairly good and smart. The marigold given to them is exactly what caused the broken timeline, so that’s why the original timeline from season 1 isn’t the original timeline either. The umbrella academy wasn’t supposed to exist and neither were their powers
Omg I totally forgot five killed Laila’s parents and he’s technically decades older than her and his siblings, that makes this season worse on top of every other reason I had
Why didn’t 5 and Lila try to blink the Ben monster into another time line? Why tf did Klaus have to immediately relapse instead of just being sober and immortal? I get Ben came from the the sparrow academy timeline but if Hargreaves killed Ben and Jennifer when they were kids where did this other Jennifer come from? Why did Luther become gorilla again when that was a side effect from Hargreaves trying to save him? Where is Sloan? Why did Alison say she was and actor when dude asked who she was? 😂 weren’t there like 40 something kids with the marigold in them? Why did it only take the main cast to stop the monster? When tf did they become able to “power up” and how did they know how to do it? Why didn’t 5 and Lila let them know about the keepers from the beginning or at least when Diego was on to them? Why did Alison only use that eye contact hypnotize/rumor shit that one time? How tf did victor get memories that he never experienced just cause he wanted to see what happened? And don’t get me started on Hargreaves wife. She annoyed the fuck outta me after the whole body snatcher shit. I could probably come up with more issues with this season if I really sat and thought about it lol that’s just what immediately stuck out when I finished this waste of a season. So hold up you mean to tell me everything is just erased now? Wtf? Ok I’m done, this was a huge letdown for sure.
I heard someone say Jennifer is a single entity hopping timelines; she’s the same one who died who got put into the squid. Not sure how that makes sense if this is supposed to be a new timeline tho…
Fr it was so meaningless and all it did was make the ending more bitter with him still being mad at Diego and Lila holding his hand just too make him feel better without loving him and it just felt like 5 had no bond with his family
@@lailaalanna315 they still liked 5 but the season had everyone with their pair yk like allison and klaus ben and viktor and luther had his little thing with diego but was really down with the whole family and diego had lila and 5 felt left out he didnt have a heart to heart with anyone and his whole vibe was off this season it didnt feel like and old man in a kids body it just felt like an immature old man whos not happy with himself
I'll be honest, all I wanted was a "Let's get revenge/answers from Reginald while dealing with having no powers" plot wit a sprinkle of "Let's look for Sloane" and "let's deal with the fact that Alisson is an asshole". No great multiverse war, just a small season to tie the loose ends.
Allison was completely butchered in season 3 and 4 also. They legitimately made her an evil character. She was already and abusive mom but she took it to a whole other level with the straight up murder and betrayals. And then she selfishly erased her ex from the timeline. Like I get that you didn't have a good relationship with him but you erased your daughter's dad who she loved. And he was actually a good dad, protecting his daughter from the abusive mom. And I'm sure ripping someone like Ray out of his time would have some drastic real world consequences. He was a civil rights leader after all. And what about that dude's family and friends? Evil, selfish character.
netflix only gave them 6 episodes to wrap up so basically telling them finish or we cancel you . I hate they cut Luther and Sloane storyline completely , they could not give any damn character a real closure positive end . they wasted Klaus , their powers make no sense . IF they truly had more season I bet FIVE woulda been the one that woulda fixed this , he literally has in every damn time but NO he literally says WAIT AND just let it END . damn this thing has me depressed .
This season wouldn’t have been better with more episodes. If they did a good season they could have make the 6 episodes 90 mins or something to get the same with less episodes. I feel they fired the people who wrote the first two seasons after writing season three, hired people to take out space to cram in the “affirm me” and season four was those writers doing a season by themselves.
@@pskroob it is a matter of more time to have more room to breathe for the stories because they only gave Viktor some purpose but I even read better reddit post of other fans writing a better ending than this .
Luther was wasted. Ray and Sloan written off with one liners. You could have had Allison guilt of her actions from season 3 and changed behavior cause marriage issues so Ray left. Luther has to work a mission with Allison where it's discovered she might have subconsciously wished Sloan away in the reset bcuz she still had deep feelings for him and they have to deal with that. (You can tell I'm still salty about the day that wasn't) but it writes itself. Also, if all the Bennifer needed was the Marigold, why didn't Victor just take it from everyone and self sacrificed so everyone could live
Luther was an absolute embarrassment in 4. It was like they asked a 9 year old boy to write his character. In fact, it's like all the writers for 4 were 9 year olds they let have at it. It was atrocious. IF I ever rebinge TUA it'll be Seasons 1 and 2. I cannot stomach 3 and 4.
Literally all they needed to do to make a decent last season was show wtf Reginald's motivation for literally anything was. But they said nah. Let's just do random shit then "it was all a dream" but worse.
And “The Cleanse”- everybody knew that term this season. I was like, it’s such a trope that the name for this previously non existent world ending thing is now well known??
But the worst part is, they all die believing that the reason the world is ending is because of their mere existence, and not because of a petty marital squabble.
Yep, awful... period. I will forever remember Steve Blackman, "showrunner", writer, producer etc. Never knew who he was until now. I have never done so much research on a writing staff as I have done here (it was THAT bad). I mean... he has admitted Sloane was never addressed because of time. All of the writing was bad. As usual, acting WAS good with what they had to work with. Totally agree with you in this review. If this was a separate movie that had nothing to do with UA, the relationship with Ritu and Aidan would be great just because of their acting. But it did not fit in this series at all. I watched till the end... hoping something would happen... nope
Yep. All of this. And they ran out of time excuse is so lame because all they had to do was cut out any of the other unnecessary subplots they added. I would’ve much rather a Luther/Sloan storyline than five and Lila or even what they did to Klaus and the pimp drug dealer. Cut for time 🤦🏼♀️ They mean lazy writing… they write themselves into a corner and stayed there.
It sucks cuz I don't doubt several things could've been done to make this better. Like...Something with Viktor. He can drain Marigold I'm pretty sure they established. It would've been the ultimate gray to the Black and White he was talking about with Hargreeves. Also: Hargreeves or his wife should've been the more established villains of this season, like we foreshadowed in S3. We could've had the apocalypse as a result of there being two sets of the Umbrella Academy; the versions we've been following and the ones native to this timelines and the universe trying to course correct- We could've gotten peak...Guess it's time to turn to fanfiction-
A better ending would've been Viktor draining all of the marigold and then sacrificing only himself. It wouldve been sad but it would've actually made SENSE.
@@indieoreganoexactly I feel like this ending just proved Hargreaves right only 2 things needed to happen Jennifer and viktor needed too die cause vanya ended the world twice so he was bound too do it again and Jennifer had Durango they didn’t explain any reason as to why the original characters couldn’t stay cuz it’s not like klaus is ending the world Yk 😭
Omg I was just as furious as you! JUST TO ADD as well, with this whole multiple people having marigold situation....my biggest annoyance is that there's meant to be over 40 women who gave birth to kids like the umbrella academy in the ORIGINAL timeline! Hargreaves only managed to adopt 7 of them....yet none of then are even mentioned again, and none are "cleansed" 😂😂
why luther became a apes again, thats not his power ,why claire is not scared or suprised by her moms power, where's the others special kids ,since jennifer exist ,why she got power did she drank the juice wtf ,i think they've used A.I. or something ,what a deception it was one of my favorite show ,i've watch the last episode in 3 shot because i was mad hahaa
I just realized this finale is the exact opposite of the Loki finale. They just erased an infinite amount of timelines, essentially killing an infinite amount of people.
You’re hilarious and saying everything I thought especially about the Nick Offerman. I think they spent all their money on Nick, Megan and CGI. It was money wasted. I just saw a video of the cast talking about fan theories and I feel like they liked the fan theories better than the actual series finale. 🤦🏾♀️ I just know the actors are awesome and they deserved better. We deserved better.
Im mostly pissed about 5 betraying his brother. That was such bullshit and unnecessary. Its like they were thinking, well we gave someone for the whole family to love at least omce but 5 never got any, so lets just have him and Lila have an awkward affair and fuck Diego's (the most sensitive of the group) feelings about it. WTF!?!?!
They did the exact same thing for the live action ATLA show, the writers just made shit up and connected stuff together that shouldn’t be connected (like having two episodes in one) and then making paper thin characters that shouldn’t be paper thin because their source material is fucking wonderful.
12:51 I‘m actually gonna rewatch season 1 and 2 and pretend that season 4 doesn’t exist to still enjoy the times the show was good. In my eyes this new season is a badly executed fanfiction and not canon…
I was watching season four and I was like “it’s really cool that five and Lila remain platonic friends while being each other’s only companions for that many years. It really goes to show that a man and a woman can just be friends and- wait what are you doing? Why are you kissing?!? What the hell!”
All the seasons were a little all over the place with plot, but we all stayed because we wanted to see the siblings connect and heal from their childhood abuse as adults. The moment the writers forgot about this, they lost the heart of why people loved this show.
I was surprised that season 4 was even made. Season 3 was far worse than one and two in no small part because of the awkward ending. That the new ending is somehow even worse boggles my mind.
The show runners didn't even do their many deus ex machinas correctly. 5 and Lila are not the right casting for that romantic relationship--the age gap between the actors made it extra-awkward.
I just realized when you said reset her to season 1 Allison...that that's basically what they did with all the characters...Allison not happy in her family or career, Klaus addicted to drugs and such not in control of his powers or emotions, Diego unhappy in his job and feeling powerless in his situation, Luther frustrated about his ape like body and hiding it from people, Five "in love" with someone he felt an attachment to whilst being oyt of time for years, Viktor having issues around Reginald ...Ben barely a character with their own motivations, i.e. not a gjost bit like a ghost and then dies before the rest of them....like what even , all of their character arcs in the padtv3 seasons just kinda erased before they even decided to wrade themselves
Also, they played us because in the trailer you’ll see them show the train station map and then cut to Ben’s arm is if they are connected in someway but they never tell us what the fu the train station means why they were there I feel like they cut out where they were going to see the ben that was on the train at the end of last season at the train station and they didn’t want to put that in the plot because then I would have to come with another plot another storyline and they were just ready to be done with this season that’s what I believe. The train station was originally supposed to be connected to Bea in, but they had to take it out of there because it was too much
The only way to save this season would have been for comic accurate versions of the team to show up and save the day from an alternate timeline. All 7 of them. In full costumes.
I still never understood why they continually forget that their children are born all around the world with Marigold in them, and they are never addressed other as surprised character or in another timeline. I would have an explanation like Hargreaves had the ones he couldn't obtain killed off, and the ones we see are those who survived his mass culling of possible threats to his plans. Yet we see them in other timelines, or we see them with the enemies. Viktor was a threat he had to gaslight into thinking he's not special.
Can we talk about Luther getting his powers back, but also being part ape. It doesn’t even follow their own story as his powers didn’t do that Hargreaves did when he injected him with it when he got injured so he shouldn’t have turned into that again, but who cares they didn’t even think about it at all. Klaus learning his powers when he was able to channel Ben’s powers was awesome, and the less than a min showing him using powers to bring the spirits of soldiers to the fight was awesome, he doesn’t do jack shiz after that.
Netflix learned from Sense8 that they could not just outright cancel these EXCELLENT, high concept shows between season cliffhangers without backlash. It was quite quickly after S3 launched that we knew S4 would be the end. Back in Sense8 days, they just cancelled the show completely and fans sent in flip flops to NetflixHQ saying bring back Sense8. Protest worked and we for a 2 hour finale out of it. Satisfying for the audience because we knew the writers were rushed to answer all the questions they set up in 2 hours in contrast to their picture of the series going for a minimum of 8-10 hours (if they got even a third season). To tell your audience, you are giving them a final season and give us this shitty "trilogy" of finales. Especially picking up 6 years later, this season felt more like Skins (UK) Fire, Pure and Rise. It feels off. The storylines conclude certain things but feel overall underwhelming. TLDR: the show should have been cancelled. The fans would protest telling the writers what we want answered. And then through Netflix hoops and the cast and crew being totally pumped to revive their roles, had the series finale sort then. In however many years that would've taken.
LOL Netflix didn't learn squat froom Sense8. They canceled The OA and The Punisher and scores of others while keeping ignorant garbage that should never have been made to begin with.
We should have know it would always be this way though….it’s what Netflix does if we’re being honest,How many times has a series been prematurely cancelled? Does anyone really think Stranger Things is gonna be any different? It’s time to stop accepting mediocre bs
Yes yes AAAND the fact that Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman were in this and they deserved BETTER! Those are two icons, and they were given "Hey, we're gonna give you characters with really cool concepts and a good start, then they're just gonna fizzle out and be essentially nothing. That cool?" If I were Megan or Nick, hell if I was any of the Umbrellas, I would absoLUTELY shit on this once the contract requiring them to play along runs out.
haha bro is MAD😂 honestly see .. the ending with them dying does make sense. It was kinda starting to doom on me the show would have to end that way back in season 2 when the apocalypse followed them 2 times. Five even said it back then "no matter where or when we'll go the apocalypse follows" and then in season 3 old Five in the iron lung clearly told young Five to not save the world because he has figured it out. So yeah... I did suspect they all had to die to save the world. But it didn't work very well because the characters got nothing to do this season at all. But you can't really blame the writers at this point. I feel like they did plan to tell the story differently and have some cool arcs for the characters, you could very much feel it throughout but Netflix hates the show for whatever reason and said “nope 6 episodes only, either take it or leave it and we'll cancel the show right now". Yes, they still could've done a better job, telling a much more tight and overall better story but honestly, how do you bring a show like this with that many characters to an actually satisfying ending in only 6 episodes? There ain't no way. I actually liked the last episode but not really that there basically was nothing leading up to it to make it feel satisfying from a viewer point of view. They could've done so much with this last season but did nothing.
This is all on Netflix. They always cheap out on their shows. I'm surprised they greenlit a 4th season. They would not bend when it came to episode count. The writers did the best they could. Netflix has no business producing shows. They are the Amazon of television.
Such a damn shame, this show started off strong. Season 1, the latter half specifically is so engaging and then we devolve to this. Whatever the fuck Season 4 ending was, wtf man 15:22 Umbrella Academy: Secret Wars
Hope this show gets revived later down the line maybe even a movie or a new season in a few years like Dexter to retcon this season because this is such a shity send off for the Hargreaves
I agree with all of that. Just wanted to add a few things We do see Lila’s family and Claire in the original timeline in the end. The world was sort of reset so it didn’t matter that they were on the subway or not because they were part of the original timeline, of they got off at a stop and found their way into the original timeline? I don’t know honestly Also, I personally assumed that all the other timelines were destroyed because of the Cleanse which would mean all the marigold across those timelines was destroyed also. About the Ben we see at the end of s3 on the subway, the writers said it was Sparrow Ben while at the peak of his crypto scam which is why he looks all smart, which I think is a horrible way to explain this especially since, from what I remember (correct me if I’m wrong), they previously confirmed it was actually Umbrella Ben, but now they’re backtracking? Honestly they could’ve stopped at season 2, make them go back to 2019 and live their lives like grown up siblings. I was glad to see all the characters again but so sad that this is what they were made to become. They could’ve been and done so much more than this. So many plot holes and backtracking. I am beyond disappointed. (If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading ☂️)
The show creator said in an interview the post credit scene at the end of season 3 of Ben on the train was still Sparrow Ben within the first 2 years of the season 4 reset when he was in his crypto SparrowBit aspect which was also alluding to the multiversal train of season 4 🤷♂️ I get everything you are saying and is 100% valid but I think this was all Netflix saying wrap up the show in almost half the episodes and let’s close it out. The show runner i believe said he wanted or needed 5-6 10 episodes seasons to flesh out the story which obviously with 6 episodes and a reduced budget is kind of difficult to wrap everything up like they wanted to that obviously shows in what we got. I am at least happy we got some sort of ending/resolution to some extent rather then just canceling the show after season 3 🙈
Yeah I don’t understand the marigold and Durango thing they make it seem like only been Ben could’ve started it but then say it’s all the marigold so why was the emphasis put on Ben?
I never liked that Allison still never got called out for force kissing someone which made me wonder about Claire's original father (like did she do that kind of stuff with him). She kept being selfish and betrayed everyone yet in the end they did the whole "I always took care of the drug addict"... like did you? I think they rushed the "We took everyone's powers now you got them back" thing was because of the marigold ending. Think about it now they want to end it by having everyone give up being anything so the cleansing could eat all of their marigold powers. So they has to create a timeline that only they had it because if not what about the other 30 something people who had it. Rushing it though made it seem so dumb and was just a quick way for writers to get it so only that group had to chose. Could you imagine if the show had a few episodes of them going around and collecting the others and getting them to agree with stopping themselves from ever exciting. Like a few would refuse because they love their lives, maybe found good families, others would love it because they finally got to be a hero. It would be cool to see what happened to the other kids that did not get to be picked. Maybe some jealously between the ones who got to be in the Umbrella Academy and the ones who didn't. I also hate the "The kids got to live"... like how? Their parents never existed. Wouldn't that cause a paradox. The DINER! How could that be powerful enough to survive the cleansing. That means the subway is still there meaning the timelines are as well. If the Diner is not strong enough the kids would be gone. Also if it was powerful enough another Five would still be around. I highly doubt all the fives would agree to leave the diner. Most would think it was a waste and if there are no Fives and the blink out of everything the Diner they made would also be gone. Did no one think how the Diner that was created just for this season would work!
I'd rather wait for a fan with a UA-cam platform and the know-how to make an episode that both reverses this butchering and closes everyones stories up the way it ought to have been, than actually watch the season finished.
damn blerdly i feel your anathema for this show. i couldnt even get through season 1. dropped it at episode 3. as george r.r. martin put it "...these adaption showrunners think they know better than the source author and 9999 times out of 10000, they screw it up...." im listening to the Dunk and Egg complete novella on youtube, and george's writing is godlike. as a elden ring lore fan i can see why. the novella is outstanding. western adaptions of story on paper are just doomed i guess....
Yup. Thats why the lotr trilogy is so good. Everything was done with reverence to tolkien in mind. Even when it differs from the books you can tell they tried to put as much faithfulness as they could into the runtime of the movies.
If the Cleanse needed all of the Marigold, it should have needed it from every timeline. If it only needed the Marigold from the original Academy, WHY WAS ALTERNATE BEN A SUBSTITUTE FOR OG BEN? Shouldn't it NOT work without OG Ben?? Terrible ending. Ruined every characters development, made 0 sense, hand waved far too many plot holes. Also this is the first time i can think that the "heroes" of a story find out they have to destroy every semblance of life across every timeline to reset it back to one timeline, and all of the "heroes" say "yeah okay do it" instead of fifhting back to save everyone???
I thought my heart couldn’t have been more disappointed since season 3, the trailer made this look promising. Like others have commented, add it to the pile of shows ruined by the endings. I will watch seasons 1 & 2 again, kinda need to to get the ick from this season off.
As i whatchrd the ending, seeing the timelines being "erased," all i could think was how it doesn't make any sense that one timeline makes the sacrifice then destroys all other timelines?
To me, it seemed like they originally planned writing for the 10 episodes the past three seasons got but then got told that they have only 6 episodes instead, so they had to quickly jam everything together *INSTEAD* of rewriting *for* the 6 episodes that they got and fit what would make sense in that timeframe.
I was heartbroken! Like, how did this show fall from grace like this!? Season 2 was my favorite season then season 3 pissed me off… just started season 4 and it’s just… NOT IT!
Got to episode 3 and jacked it in it was so awful. It really felt like the writers, creators, producers, directors, the tea-boy and even the actors were saying a big F you to anyone watching. Even the acting was awful and wooden
And then Klaus, my second favorite character completely wasted him. They put him in a graveyard. I thought it was for some awesome end of the show at peace with my powers scene. No, they had him acting helpless, as if they haven’t shown before he can literally command spirits to do things in the reality.
I feel like the actors did their best but the season was so rushed half of them phoned it in including Aiden which is sad because he’s very focused for his age. We’ve watched him grow up and yeah he could legally “kiss” Lila on screen now but he’s still only 19 years old and Lila is like 32. To me that’s still a child. They all looked so sad doing their scenes too. I did see somewhere they cut their budget down that secondary characters and locations kind of forced production to only be in like 3 places creating this mess.
Preach. I've referred to this season as the "midichlorian season" because the whole marigold/durango thing made absolutely no sense among so many other plot points that made absolutely no sense. But I agree entirely that the writers couldn't possibly be the same ones who wrote seasons one and two. Not only did they force things to happen because the plot demanded it, but they turned Luther and Diego into just jokes, undid all the previous character development they'd spent three years building, trashed the two fan favorite characters entirely (Klaus and Five), making them act in ways that made absolutely no sense, got rid of Sloane and Ray without any explanation, and as you said unraveled any development that they'd invested in Allison. The finale was the standard comic-book "sky beam" ending but with a giant mutant monster. And good lord the whole Ben/Jennifer nonsense. I'm with you, I just don't understand any of this.
it felt like they gave the previous seasons script to an ai to cook the fourth season…so there wasnt any deep character development, story lines that just lead nowhere. LAYLA AND FIVE like I feel like no alive and thinking person would do that…and already used scenarios…just a lots and lots of nonsensical shit.
The worst part in my mind is that the whole sacrifice yourself to save the timeline was already done by the all-time great Netflix show Dark. And much better. And 5 years ago. They ripped the entire ending off of an amazing show and then blew it.
I wish it just ended with season 3. if this is all they were capable of coming up with....they should have just not. I am going to pretend season 4 didn't exist which is really sad. I was looking forward to it so much and then felt disgusted and betrayed with the crap they delivered.
The thing that got me the most (besides the out of nowhere romance and awful Klaus's storyline) that the wife could have just used her powers to get to the girl and made her drink all the marigold from the jar. And all of this shitshow could've been totally avoided. I'm speechless after that ending.
Nobody talks about this dude ranging on this trashy ass final season and he’s really representing our voices haha thank you man. I relate to you so much on this season. I feel better watching your video
Did we watch the same season? The only new mother was Lila with Allison having been and being a mother be a crucial part of her character.
@@mayo4507yes, literally every major female character was a mother in this season. The only exception being Jennifer who stopped being a character at all after the second episode.
There was supposed to be 10 episodes but it got cut short to 6
I’m cracking up at 4 fin flowers beneath a tree
The fact that Allisons original husband and Claire's actual father is never mentioned again lol.
In the new timeline I think she just made Ray Claire’s bio dad now so I don’t think they would have to mention the original father but at the same time we don’t really have an explanation for their lives in the new timeline except the time jump 5 years later
God forbid Hollywood show a successful two parent black family.
@@Proudmary7 lmao 😂
The fact that Allison basically sexually assaulted and almost raped Luthor and yet NEVER APOLOGIZED for it or have it addressed in anyway!
They never even addressed why Ben was on the train in south Korea. It was in the end credits of the previous season
You’re not wrong
Viktor constantly trying to be the main hero this season p1ssed me off. It worked a bit in s3 but not at all this season
☝️ I agree.
Ong it’s so weird on both parts that they’d just throw everything away like that??
@@b.a.t.8076after 6 years they both needed physical and emotional connection. It's that simple
Tbf I think she is quite weird enough to do this. On Five's side, yeah, total character assassination.
And isn’t Allison’s daughter his in this new timeline he definitely didn’t seem like the kind of dude to just abandon his kid
Yeah it’s bizzare they all had to sacrifice themselves when Viktor can Manipulate marigold lmao makes no sense
I thought we were going to get a five sacrifice were he ends up stuck in the train system trying to find a solution forever bringing it back to the first season when he was stuck in a post apocalyptic world trying to come back
This season had to have been scripted by AI. Name one time they ever had to “charge up” the marigold within themselves like they did in the finale.
@@radinmansouri3074
Didn’t his wife know the cleanse would fix things? I mean, yes, she gives them the marigold which theoretically splits the timeline, but there was that bit of dialog before she died with him about it. It still doesn’t make any sense though.
Another thing that’s dumb is that their home world should theoretically have been saved by the cleanse like Earth, but it was destroyed???
AI (ChatGPT) did it better. Someone posted the script on reddit. Just sad.
It sure was. I am not going to continue watching this shit again. Shit acting but I was hanging on to it but the writers were coked out I guess.
I heard someone say Jennifer is a single entity hopping timelines; she’s the same one who died who got put into the squid. Not sure how that makes sense if this is supposed to be a new timeline tho…
This downfall will be studied one day, absolute garbagio made no sense and wth was the 5 and Lila stuff🤦🏻♂️🤢
Fr it was so meaningless and all it did was make the ending more bitter with him still being mad at Diego and Lila holding his hand just too make him feel better without loving him and it just felt like 5 had no bond with his family
@@mtgoat179the others still loved Five
@@lailaalanna315 they still liked 5 but the season had everyone with their pair yk like allison and klaus ben and viktor and luther had his little thing with diego but was really down with the whole family and diego had lila and 5 felt left out he didnt have a heart to heart with anyone and his whole vibe was off this season it didnt feel like and old man in a kids body it just felt like an immature old man whos not happy with himself
I was looking at an affair and they tried to make us fall in line with it total disgust
Yeahhhhhhhhh they canceled Umbrella Academy BECAUSE Netflix wanted Steve Blackman on another job. So… yeah… no justice in the world whatsoever.
now THAT is f-ed up.I knew I smelled bullshit but that .. that is vile. I frickin hate Netflix man
Oh, what show is Steve Blackman working on now?
Gotta pump out more big mouth
Shit I'd rather they'd say fuck it and cancel the show, this was...not good.
Nah, the writing was trash. They could’ve done something dope in the timeframe
They dogwalked my boy Diego. I was watching like are 5 and Lila gonna hook up? Wtf??
The marigold is a retcon because Harlan was the one who came up with that word in season 3.
That definitely stuck out to me haha
EXACTLY how did nobody realise that wtf
And “The Cleanse”- everybody knew that term this season. I was like, it’s such a trope that the name for this previously non existent world ending thing is now well known??
the 'particles' reginard referred to being extracted to for the universal machine was also changed to marigold
But the worst part is, they all die believing that the reason the world is ending is because of their mere existence, and not because of a petty marital squabble.
This was an incredibly terrible message to send.
We could've had the apocalypse as a result of there being two sets of the Umbrella Academy; the versions we've been following and the ones native to this timelines and the universe trying to course correct-
We could've gotten peak...Guess it's time to turn to fanfiction-
A better ending would've been Viktor draining all of the marigold and then sacrificing only himself. It wouldve been sad but it would've actually made SENSE.
@@indieoregano the guy responsible for the end of the world several times being the one to save it. THAT would have been proper writing
I think Claire knew about the family's past because when they were looking for Klaus, she asks Allison "Uncle Klaus is immortal, right?"
I just realized this finale is the exact opposite of the Loki finale. They just erased an infinite amount of timelines, essentially killing an infinite amount of people.
This is literally DCs Crisis on Infinite earths.
WTF!?!?!
S4 was straight trash.
There wasn't a single thing that worked and the character assassination of 5 (my favorite character) was shocking.
CORRECT! umbrella academy stops at season 2 and the rest is a fever dream of klaus' from s1e1
I wish I could erase my mind frfr
I was watching season four and I was like “it’s really cool that five and Lila remain platonic friends while being each other’s only companions for that many years. It really goes to show that a man and a woman can just be friends and- wait what are you doing? Why are you kissing?!? What the hell!”
This ^^^
Lol
Dog shit is the appropriate word for this shit.
Damn. Another show ruined. Although tbh Umbrella Academy has always been a bit all over the place. Add it to the pile with Dexter and Game of Thrones.
It’s the same with the Ozarks, great show ruined by Netflix for no reason
All the seasons were a little all over the place with plot, but we all stayed because we wanted to see the siblings connect and heal from their childhood abuse as adults. The moment the writers forgot about this, they lost the heart of why people loved this show.
It had so much potential before s3 and 4
They had a good run until season 3. That'd when the decline started
netflix is notorious for ruining shows. Another reason why pirating is goated
90% of this season was the TV show equivalent of key jangling. "Look! Look! Here's a bunch of noise and shiny things to keep your attention!!"
Look at what they did to the last season of Ozarks, they didn’t learn shit and then cancel stuff like Maya and the three
I thought Maya and The Three intended to have 1 season, no? Damn, i hate netflix for that@@Bread-nx9fo
I think (jokingly but also…) they were sending a message by releasing tua s4 on the sense8s’ birthday 🥲
Yeah, I loved Sense8 and the quality was so high until they cancelled for no reason.
We should have know it would always be this way though….it’s what Netflix does if we’re being honest,How many times has a series been prematurely cancelled? Does anyone really think Stranger Things is gonna be any different? It’s time to stop accepting mediocre bs
“Will whoever wrote season 4 please present themselves to me now” too funny.
That cool?"
If I were Megan or Nick, hell if I was any of the Umbrellas, I would absoLUTELY shit on this once the contract requiring them to play along runs out.
"sorry gerard way" we all say in unison. i can't imagine watching my creation get this awful of a season finale
haha bro is MAD😂
honestly see .. the ending with them dying does make sense.
Each episode could’ve focused on one of them and tied up the storylines, but instead they introduced 100 new ideas and plot holes.
This is all on Netflix. They always cheap out on their shows. I'm surprised they greenlit a 4th season. They would not bend when it came to episode count. The writers did the best they could. Netflix has no business producing shows. They are the Amazon of television.
To sum it up grossly oversimplified, there's set up where there's no pay off and there's pay off where there's no set up.
It was like somebody was playing adlib, but with plots I literally fast forwarded through fives love story plot line because it was immediate cringe.😂
I notice Netflix have good shows but somehow the end up messing it up smh I Wonder how "Badlands" going to be
The only show I can think of that ended good was Schitts Creek. Literally the only show I can think of 😂
When Luther got his powers back and had the Ape body I KNEW at that moment “this isn’t gonna end well” 💀
I now know how the GOT feel when they got their bad final session. I'm very disappointed with Umbrella this session 😕
Such a damn shame, this show started off strong. Season 1, the latter half specifically is so engaging and then we devolve to this. Whatever the fuck Season 4 ending was, wtf man

Hope this show gets revived later down the line maybe even a movie or a new season in a few years like Dexter to retcon this season because this is such a shity send off for the Hargreaves
thank you for this. your emotions are sooo valid i feel every single word. this season was just so bad i cannot even put into words so thank you
I agree with all of that. Just wanted to add a few things
We do see Lila’s family and Claire in the original timeline in the end. The world was sort of reset so it didn’t matter that they were on the subway or not because they were part of the original timeline, of they got off at a stop and found their way into the original timeline? I don’t know honestly
Also, I personally assumed that all the other timelines were destroyed because of the Cleanse which would mean all the marigold across those timelines was destroyed also.
World (and their brother’s life) on the line, five and Diego think it’s time to fight over Lyla
The train was a waste nothing came out if it but getting back no revelation about anything 😂
ChatGPT season
I feel like the writers of umbrella Academy did this on purpose as a final middle finger to Netflix
I'd rather wait for a fan with a UA-cam platform and the know-how to make an episode that both reverses this butchering and closes everyones stories up the way it ought to have been, than actually watch the season finished.
damn blerdly i feel your anathema for this show. i couldnt even get through season 1. dropped it at episode 3.
as george r.r. martin put it "...these adaption showrunners think they know better than the source author and 9999 times out of 10000, they screw it up...."
im listening to the Dunk and Egg complete novella on youtube, and george's writing is godlike. as a elden ring lore fan i can see why. the novella is outstanding.
western adaptions of story on paper are just doomed i guess....
Multiversal Umbrella Academy sounds dope!
omg
I love you just came across your channel. excellent.
The script was probably generated through AI
As i whatchrd the ending, seeing the timelines being "erased," all i could think was how it doesn't make any sense that one timeline makes the sacrifice then destroys all other timelines?
To me, it seemed like they originally planned writing for the 10 episodes the past three seasons got but then got told that they have only 6 episodes instead, so they had to quickly jam everything together *INSTEAD* of rewriting *for* the 6 episodes that they got and fit what would make sense in that timeframe.
Five found Douglas Adams' Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Broader lands and season 4 of the Umbrella Academy. How did you survive? 😂
I was heartbroken! Like, how did this show fall from grace like this!? Season 2 was my favorite season then season 3 pissed me off… just started season 4 and it’s just… NOT IT!
Why dose it feel like they regressed everyones season after that damn time skip.
Got to episode 3 and jacked it in it was so awful. It really felt like the writers, creators, producers, directors, the tea-boy and even the actors were saying a big F you to anyone watching. Even the acting was awful and wooden
I feel like the train is to us as IPhone is to a medieval child
And then Klaus, my second favorite character completely wasted him. They put him in a graveyard. I thought it was for some awesome end of the show at peace with my powers scene. No, they had him acting helpless, as if they haven’t shown before he can literally command spirits to do things in the reality.
This show was only 3 seasons + 15 min (after the 15min it was over for me)
Your deatheater tattoo looks amazing btw 😎😎😎😎😎
Yes...thanks for this video..THIS IS WHAT WE 'RE ALL THINKING..THIS SEASON WAS AWFUL..
I'm 7 minutes in and this rant is already more passionate than the entirety of seasons 3 and 4 combined.
i was actually thinking that Im just dumb that I thought some stuff didnt make sense but turns out that they were just plot holes…
Something someone pointed out on another page. Luther becoming part ape again doesn't make sense because Reginald did that to him not the marigold
You nailed it. It is right up there with Season 8 of GOT when it comes to character destruction.
it felt like they gave the previous seasons script to an ai to cook the fourth season…so there wasnt any deep character development, story lines that just lead nowhere. LAYLA AND FIVE like I feel like no alive and thinking person would do that…and already used scenarios…just a lots and lots of nonsensical shit.
This was a good review I was appalled at season 4 😂😂 shame on Netflix
the thing about erasing merigold from the timeline also makes no sense since OTHER KIDS WERE BORN WITH IT RIGHT???
This was up there with cancelling the society. Devastating.
The worst part in my mind is that the whole sacrifice yourself to save the timeline was already done by the all-time great Netflix show Dark. And much better. And 5 years ago. They ripped the entire ending off of an amazing show and then blew it.
This really incapsulated all the anger I had for season 4. Thank you, I feel seen loool 😂
I wish it just ended with season 3. if this is all they were capable of coming up with....they should have just not. I am going to pretend season 4 didn't exist which is really sad. I was looking forward to it so much and then felt disgusted and betrayed with the crap they delivered.
it's nice to be reminded once and a while that fanfic exists. off i go!
Thank you dude! I needed this.
