I wish they covered Grey Death vs Jade Falcon in a book. Seemed to have only been mentioned. Thanks for reading the whole saga dude, I enjoyed it a lot.
I know of the Gray Death Legion and of Carlisle via your Battletech universe playlist which has been given a playthrough and then some. Truly pioneering and innovative. Battletech's Mercs really putting to shame and showing up the less-than-altruistic reputation (and reality) of the role and definition of "mercenary" soldier. I haven't listened to your Batteltech novel narrations, YET, sir; they're bookmarked and anticipated. I have to moderate my capacity for multiple lore absorption. Thank you as ever for more Batteltech, GDN!
At the moment I'm very meh about GDL, I just want did the Flashpoint mission in the BT pc game where you are forced to help them, then they vaguely assist in destroying a single DEST lance then they just run away while your team is forced to provide covering fire. Bad writing on the pc game
The GDL was what got me into the BT novels. I had a strong respect and affection for the Mercs. I was deeply disappointed with their treatment in later novels. It really felt like many of the more modern writers just didn't know what to do with them.
In order to keep the Battletech universe grim and dark, anytime anything like a "good guy" shows up and starts bringing peace and healing to the universe, they've got to wreck him. See, for example, how they've destroyed both the Commonwealth and the Federation in the newer eras. Reclaim New Avalon!
@@GrimDarkNarrator a fair point. I also think this is what happens when you have a bunch of writers and a main character/faction and someone either runs out of gas or leaves the company.
@@GrimDarkNarrator Grey Death Legion History after the first three Books is more or less tragic...They were victims of political powerplays. By the Way: Am I the only one who thinks that the Grey Death Standard Battle Armor is, at least in the drawing of it from the Technical Readout, very similar in view to a Space Marine Terminator Armor ? Only that the GDS is in his proportions more realistic (I mean the Position of Head, Arms and Legs compared to the Terminator Armor).
It makes complete sense that the GDL would be pioneers of battle armor in the Inner Sphere. They were the only unit to seriously contemplate and put into practice anti-mech tactics with infantry and combined arms due to their history supporting insurgencies against House Kurita. At the time, most military commanders considered mechs a completely distinct combat force from armor and infantry. I believe this is why the NAIS gave the GDL the prototypes in the first place, because they were the natural group to theorycraft the tactical applications of such a weapon, plus they had their own technical capacity to make modifications and test the equipment.
RIP Grayson. I found battle suits with tag greatly interesting. As you could feild melee mechs brezerkers( my favorite) with fire support yoeman and use the battle suits as spotters. If you are smart this is a formidble force on any battle feild.
You skipped my favorite Grey Death Armor! The Surat Suite is a Grey Death Standard that uses clan tech to lighten it up enough to carry a heavy small laser. It's such a glorious trash heap that my Sea Fox Solhma Shoal fields them in nearly every battle.

You're welcome.
"The most distinguished user of Gray Death scout armor was a mysterious individual known as 'Felix', on a world called Banshee."
haha
@@GrimDarkNarrator Nice to see someone remembers John Steakley.
FOR THE LYRNN COMMONWEALTH!!!
Cool.
Looking forward to the adventures of the new Gray Death Legion
Everyone else pay space At&t or else. The GDL. "Fuck space At&t."

The Gray Death is probably one of the most common-sense and reasonable merc units in BT history.
The Dying Time is one of the few novels i will never read again, thoroughly depressing.
I agree. It was very sad indeed.
Yezzzzzzzz , Carlisle ,👌 Thank You .

Agreed. Decision at Thunder Rift is a much better portrayal of Grayson and how his unit came to be.
That's a typical drop in bt

I found the way they ended pretty sad, but strangely realistic.

A lot of improvements in the inner sphere was a result of the Grey Death Legion. Great video
Well after the GDL floated a Union DropShip down a river like an inflatable raft, what couldn't they make work?
Great review. Are you going to cover the Demon Series of Battle Armor?
Yes, it will be coming as part of this series.
Narrator have you read the books on the new gray death legion yet? Do you plan to? Would you make an audiobook of them too? Thanks again!
You're in luck. The entire Gray Death Saga is on my channel as audiobooks.

You need another pilot? My merc company is always loooking for a fight. Provided the cause is just.
Are all tanks fighters warships and battle armor going to be covered eventually ?
Yes, eventually. Although I covered a ton of fighters and vehicles already.
