    Hi Brian. I never use the ac in my Boxster. Would it be possible to remove it, along with all the hoses etc.

    • @ArrowheadGarage
      @ArrowheadGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can remove it and buy a new drive/pully belt for Boxsters or 996's that have deleted the a/c compressor! Thanks for watching!

      Brian Minson Thanks for that. Do you know if the condenser radiators at the front are connected to the cooling system or completely separate.

    I went through the process of taking the engine lid off, not so easy, thinking the a/c inlet was in there. Didn't see it. Duh. Saw your video. Bingo, it's next to the battery! SO EASY! Good German engineering. Thank you.

    Thanks for mentioning the radiator fans. My 2004 seems to be suffering from loose foam blocking the flaps down below, which has been blowing out in chunks for a while. I will run the air on high for several hours, see if I can get it to come out the vents and allow the flaps to open.

    Hi Brian. Thanks for the video. Is this only for when you have no coolant in the system and need to add some? I believe mine has coolant in it but it needs replacing. At 3m 5s in the gauge is way in the red, why is that and is it dangerous. Then it’s at zero until shaken, which also seems odd? I don’t know what to make of this video and don’t want to damage my car. Do you know what to do if your coolant needs replacing?

    • @ArrowheadGarage
      @ArrowheadGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Neil, if you just need to top off your coolant then turn on your AC to full and LO, hook up a can of R134a with the built in gauge... then shake the can up and down as you add coolant to your system. Once the gauge shows you're in the green or good zone stop and disconnect everything. Thanks for watching!

    Hi, excellent video. Thank you very much.
    I have checked my system and it’s empty there is no refrigerant. I’m planing to top it up.
    But my question is. When the system is empty and AC is switched ON does the front two fans still be working? Mines are not working. And looks like AC pump is not spinning. If I’ll add refrigerant into system i would need to reset the pump somehow.

    • @ArrowheadGarage
      @ArrowheadGarage  3 роки тому

      Those fans should kick on when you turn on the AC, and yes get the pump working before you fill the system.

    • @mikethacker8558
      @mikethacker8558 5 місяців тому

      There is a pressure switch. You need a certain amount of refrigerant in the system for the compressor to work. Otherwise the compressor could lock up by running dry.

    Great video again Brian, think mine need doing but not such priority in England lol. Btw was your compressor noisy? Mine whines a little when running. Also I note only my front RH fan comes on with AC so I will check that. Thank you

    • @ArrowheadGarage
      @ArrowheadGarage  4 роки тому +1

      I didn’t have any compressor noise, but I think I might have a cut in the line that is leaking the gas/oil that cooks the car. Yes check those fans, with the ac on both fans should sound like your Boxster is ready to take flight lol. You can check under the dash relay panel, each fan has a low and high speed fan relay (all 4 are the same and cheep to replace). If the relays are good then it’s a bad fan :-( a bit expensive and a pain in the @$$ to replace. Let me know if you need help! Thanks for being a loyal subscriber!!

      Brian Minson hi Brian, so guy came service car today and tested the fans, looks like my LH fan low speed isn't working which apparently due to resistor failure. Thank you for the heads up radiator fans as I wouldn't known to check.

    How do you know it's not the compressor? The seals could leak or the clutch may not be working. You just can't fill the A/C system with refrigerant if it has a leak.

    Hi. My right side ac vent was blowing hot air and they replaced a part and it was working fine again . And suddenly 3 weeks later the AC was making a muffled noise and it was a weak air flow, my mechanic said I need a ac compressor ... wouldn’t he been able to know from the beginning what was wrong ? (It’s my 3rd time taking it back )
    Thanks

  • @johnmorgan7262
    @johnmorgan7262 4 роки тому +3

    But wait. You did not fix the problem. Coolant does not just disappear. Merely putting a can in is bad for the car and the environment. Why wouldn't you put in a can of dye to find out where the leak is? It could be a loose connection. I do not get this video. At best you are treating a great car like a piece of junk. That is not budget. It is poor economy.
