The power and intensity of our ever-changing marine environment is portrayed in this descriptive work for young players. Incorporating a simple melodic motif along with syncopated rhythmic energy, Michael Oare effectively depicts the power of nature's most violent storms. Opening with a calm, yet foreboding introduction, the work quickly transforms as the storm draws near. Thundering bass drum rolls, driving rhythmic and melodic ostinatos, and dynamic and textural contrasts propel the piece towards a bold and exciting conclusion.

Okay, so I’m a seventh grader, and I made honor band, and this is one of the pieces the band is performing. I’m just saying, if you have headphones and your instrument is available when you must practice, wear them. It will feel just like you are in the band and you can play along as well. It’s so awesome!

The high school band played this for our Christmas concert and we loved it. I play French Horn and the parts for the French Horn is awesome

I play trumpet on this piece. The coolest measures in my opinion are 30-50 because the melody on top of the countermelody and the harmony sounds sooooo cool.
