This was the last song I played for my final concert my senior year and I got to play the AMAZING trumpet solo. I've played a lot of music, but this is BY FAR the best piece I have ever played.
In literally 3 days my high school band is going to have our final concert and we are going to play this piece. I play trumpet, however I didn't get the solo 😔 but I still freaking LOVE this music.
that's better than what happened to the senior girl who got the solo a couple years ago in my high school band. as music built up to it, she totally choked and screwed it all up. i felt so bad for her.
But you got robbed on measure 242. It should have been arranged so that the only instrument playing across those rests was bass clarinet, like the low vocal part there in the real song.
I play baritone in my town's city band, and this is a staple for the children's concert we do. We also get to dress up as Disney characters, and I 100% always pick Scar 😂
In my school band we played this and we have a trumpet player with the last name of Hakuna and when we found out that we where playing this we all looked at him and sang Hakuna Matata
We played this song when we travelled over to Singapore for band. Us and a Singapore band joined together to play with, with some of us singing. And it was amazing. Love this song and piece of music.
During winter break I got bored in 7th grade and decided to learn like 10 new pieces for my tuba like summer dances and steel and just happened to find this. My favorite song ever. BY FAR
It was an absolute privilege to have played this arrangement in high school as a tubist. I had only wished my classmates would have taken it more seriously. Thank you Mr. Johnson for giving me the opportunity to participate in this work, even in a little small-town high school.
Graduation year 2018 concert, pinaghalong saya at lungkot naramdman ko nun when i was graduated as a band member but im so thankful I'll become part of it 💓💕
My band director asked me which song we should play for the spring concert, and she happened to have this in her archives. Now we’re learning it and it is SO MUCH FUN!
Definitely the best piece I played way back in 7th grade. I remember not knowing the marimba solo at the beginning of Hakuna Matata until 2 days before the concert because the 7th grade and 8th grade bands practiced separately and since there were no other 7th graders playing the solos there, my band director forgot about my part altogether.
We did this in 1996 when I was in high school. Good memories. I don’t understand how a 3rd grade band could do this ? It was hard for this guy...I was 17 at the time !
Music grading is different from educational grading. Music is graded based on meter, tempo, range of notes played by each instrument, etc. The grading is only from 1-5.
If you look at other videos on this channel, you can definitely see the difference between a Grade 3, Grade 2, and Grade 4 arrangement of the same piece.
We composed our own arrangement of The Lion King, which included The Circle of Life, Be Prepared, and Can you Feel the Love Tonight. We're a 3A band, just got Sweepstakes this year! 1s in marching, sight reading, and concert! Proud
fucking same. every time we play this in band, I get goosebumps all over my body for the entire class and then I go home and listen to this about 700 times
I’m a 7th grader in the Dean Leaman Junior High School Band. I’m a 2nd clarinet and we are playing this piece at the Lcisd Epicenter. This will be so fun.
Obsessed Disney fan here!!! Go flutes!!! I swear Lion King is my favorite movie!! Will be going to Disney in Florida next month, you can probably tell I'm a bit too excited!!
X Radiation It doesn’t matter about the level. It’s about trying to play it lyrically which makes it way harder than your boast about playing it perfectly.

How did you see the measures?!??
I could barely read the notes :/
Why was “This Land” not included in this piece?
This was the last song I played for my final concert my senior year and I got to play the AMAZING trumpet solo. I've played a lot of music, but this is BY FAR the best piece I have ever played.
This is my last song in my senior year of 2019
In literally 3 days my high school band is going to have our final concert and we are going to play this piece. I play trumpet, however I didn't get the solo 😔 but I still freaking LOVE this music.
we played it this year for 8th but didn’t do the other 2 pages (i play trombone)

Imagine getting the trumpet solo your senior year then the covid comes and takes it away from you.

I’m so sorry 😞
As a bass Clairnet player in symphonic, I’m so happy we get the melody for be prepared. It literally my favorite measure throughout this whole song
i also play bass clarinet and it sure was surprising to see myself with the melody
I play bass clarinet too, and I can't even put into words how much I wanted my band director to choose this song haha
But you got robbed on measure 242. It should have been arranged so that the only instrument playing across those rests was bass clarinet, like the low vocal part there in the real song.
As a bari sax player I agree
As someone with a friend who plays bass clarinet I can tell you that my friend will be very happy to hear this song as well
Finally a medley with the villain song
Let’s just appreciate the pretty flute part ❤️
Stanley Music 🎶 Brass is the best
Yeessssss!! Flute solo was soooooo good!
Brass is second best. Coming from a flute and flugel player : )
Lowri Zeraschi what is a flugel?

We did this exact song (same arrangement) in our concert last night!

Aj Lando Feb 5, 2017 for me
Aj Lando we're doing it soon 🙄
Aj Lando I did this last year dude

I just realized how similar I just can't wait to be king sounds compared to under the sea?
all Disney music is like that XD
It does probably to like satisfy the audience maybe?
Really? I didn't notice that at all
@Kimbernesha Barnes Idk
I am playing this in band and I always hum it and get messed up there
This is quite possibly one of the best concert band arrangements of anything I've ever seen
Definitely
I'm glad ,that is so a good arragement, because i just orderred the full score.
Hope we have a lot of good fun with it!
I really wanna make my band director play this
But we dont have all the parts
I play baritone in my town's city band, and this is a staple for the children's concert we do. We also get to dress up as Disney characters, and I 100% always pick Scar 😂
This is the best Lion King arrangement out there! Woo!
I’m guessing you don’t play bassoon then
I wish my band could play this! I love this arrangement so much, great job John Higgins!
*This is so nostalgic for me. I was first trumpet and I played the solos.*
*I love this medley with a passion!*
Wow this version still do exist!!
I WAS PLAYING THE FLUTE PART ALMOST 20 years ago...
Wow.... love this...
In my school band we played this and we have a trumpet player with the last name of Hakuna and when we found out that we where playing this we all looked at him and sang Hakuna Matata

Bird Band i was joking lmfao
Woooosh
Please tell me he got to play the Dixieland Shuffle in Hakuna Matata

I remember playing this my first year of middle school band, such a great piece.
If I was a core band director, I would definitely have this arrangement as a show!
core as in you being the 'main' director or corp like a drum & bugle band?
Main band director.
I cried on the arrangment of can you feel the love tonight at the key change from Ab to Bb!!
