These PC ports are great. I've 100%ed Jak and Daxter via the new PC port, and I checked out the Ocarina of Time one, and that was impressive. Honestly these unofficial PC ports are worthy of a full video

2:22 this kind of depends on what 1995 tech nerd you talk to. you might blow their mind, or or you might fill them with undue optimism that VRML is going to work out great

Never played the original but discovered the soundtrack via the magic of the youtube algorithm and loved it, I look forward to trying this out!

that's pretty neat! might try doing some tests on my hardware to see how well it'd run on less modern hardware.

Wipeout Pure was my intro on the PSP, had to use that to get the web browser before Sony added one.

Playing the Phantom Edition port felt so surreal... It feels so bizarre to actually complete the Venom league when before the "stop at a wall" physics would stop you at Korrodera. It feels like playing the refined WipEout 2097* in the skin of WipEout 1, and it feels really fun. Probably the best way to play this game alongside fellow port Rewrite. The only slight I can name is that it requires the US CD rather than that and a UK one, meaning I can't be able to play this version with the licensed tracks from the PAL disc. Now, if only Forest of Illusion can get the code for 2097...
*also known as WipEout XL in the US

I must say I enjoyed Wipeout: The Game for the Wii when I was younger. Hope that gets a PC port someday.

I’m hoping for maybe a better Sega Saturn conversion, but I’m not really sure how much there is to improve

Nope but it wasn't really big enough for the main channel so I figured this would be the best place for it

1:24 Whether or not its open source doesn't make it any more or less illegal. It's still copyright infringement either way and Sony could easily reverse engineer the exe if they want to obtain evidence. I don't see the reason not to just release it.

I didn't want to get into the various legalities involved in this video, but you're right, from a legal perspective it's copyright infringement either way.
That being said, usually with community game projects, it's more about flying under the radar enough to not get sued in the first place - not about how solid your defense would be if the matter went to court - and that mostly comes down to guessing the whims of the publisher involved. Could a company be less likely to take action if they don't see the words "WIPEOUT SOURCE CODE" on your project? It's quite possible, so that's why I give it a pass here.
