Great job on this video, I use the four factors at the high school level. It revealed that we had better shooting, turnovers, and free throws than our opponent but were getting beat on O boards. Watched some film, made some adjustments, won 16 in a row after we equalized the rebounding numbers. It really helps you focus on where you are lacking.

If you've every coached a competitive basketball team, then you know it's all about 3:59. Nothing else can take priority until that happens, otherwise you won't achieve team goals where individuals have to play a role and sacrifice for a teammate (setting a screen for a teammate to get a good shot, boxing out hard, taking pride in a pass, etc.) Poor team chemistry leads to a reduction in production in the big 3 categories. (shooting, turnovers, rebounds) FACT

I would be interested in knowing how much the 4 Factors are altered based on the different environments of the game. As a baseball analytics person, I know that weighted on base average has one of the highest correlations to run scoring, but the weightings change with scoring environment. The formula for 1968 is quite different than the formula for 1996.
How much does altering the way the game is played due to these factors change the factors themselves? In other words, if most teams stop taking the 10-15 foot jump shot, because this is analytically the lowest scoring expectation, does this then affect the defense against the shots inside 5 feet and from behind the 3-point line and thus lower their expected outcomes?

Influence not drive. The three drove the three. Dean's book is like the baseball abstract before bill james. Too offensive weighted There are a lot of tools issues but 4 factors includes only 1 defensive characteristic and then only partially rebounding. Defensive weight in the left hand right hand pan of balance ⚖ is undervalued because either they havent developed a stat or theyve under weighted them . And the few stats we do have on the right defensive side leave that pan looking light. Dont be so wowed by shooting scoring and o 4 factors. I cant explain here but you need to note 2004 pistons crushing defensive championship. . On paper practice is the same as on paper but in games it's different. Apologies for paraphrasing Yogi B.
