You guys should really do some research. The engine isn’t tweaked it’s completely redone from the last model year s5. The old one used to be supercharged this ones turbo charged, they just share the same displacement. Also the sport diff does help a lot it does wonders for tight high speed cornering.
Prashanth S No it’s not you can’t swap the supercharger for a turbocharger and call it the same engine. It needs to be completely changed to accommodate a turbo
This was Audi's description, per C&D: "Audi claims this engine, which makes 354 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, features 800 parts that differ from the previous powerplant. That’s not all the parts, mind you, but it does wear a new designation, EA839, and Audi likes to call it “all new.” "
The S5 Sportback is an excellent car. I almost bought one as for once the Audi lease rate was comparable. My Issues with the S5 Sportback:: The engine is strong but is the only iron block engine in the group. The V6 has excellent power but it lacks a bit of refinement. The engine is made in Hungary. It also has some turbo lag at lower RPM which is not a complete surprise as prior versions were supercharged. It only has a 7 speed transmission while the MB has a 9 and the BMW an 8 speed. Great upshifts but downshifts a bit ragged. I liked the S5 ride in "comfort" mode but even in that mode the ride is pretty stiff. Handling was excellent but the Sportback reduces the body rigidity, On the other hand the Sportback is very handy!I could not locate a car in my area with my favorite feature traffic jam assist. Finding a car with a head's up display was difficult the pricing of a car with one was above market. I'm not a fan of the flattish sears. I found that the seats of an A5 were actually more comfortable. Don't try to put anyone over 5'7" in the back seat. The rearward vision is compromised. Yes I know that Audi has an excellent blind spot detector but I always head check. You cannot put a rood rack if the car has the panoramic sunroof which opens up over the roof. The flat bottom steering wheel is just a gimmick and makes steering a bit difficult in combination with the variable ratio "dynamic" steering. Like any car the S5 Sportback has its good points and its not so good points. Your mileage may vary.
What are you even talking about. Audi dropped the excellent dual clutch 7 speed for the 8 automatic ZF. It's the same trans as in Rolls Royce and Bentley, some Aston Martins, Jaguar, Land Rover and BMW. It's tuned very well to Audi Specs with the Quattro system coupled to it. The Benz transmissions are know for more failure rates and being nowhere as responsive as ZF transmissions. Do your research first.
I like S5 sport back....Super sleek. But the problem I run into is performance and price. The KIA Stinger GT is 15k less and has practically the same performance, and the interior of the S5 isn’t that great looking either. I trust German vehicles, but besides the emblem....What are we really paying for here compared to much cheaper alternatives ?
Because brand whores are sad and have nothing better to do than please others instead of themselves. One comment down here said something about a red carpet acting like he lives in fucking Hollywood when he probably drives a Yaris.
ganymedeIV4 I certainly can't afford an Audi like most people but that doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. I can't afford a Lexus or even a Kia stringer either but I still love both. Wether or not I can personally have something doesn't determine wether I like it or not but idk about you.
Genesis (Hyundai) has so many of the design elements “borrowed “ from this car. But then again, Genesis has FORMER AUDI DESIGNERS on board its team now. Almost bought the A5 Sportback but the GENESIS G80 won out in the end. 😉
How do you like your G80 after having it a few months? I'm in the market now and considering that (G80 Sport) or this S5 sport back...also looking at an Infiniti Red Sport.
Steve Schultz I drove a new 340i and wasn’t that impressed for 60k. That is overpriced. Got a new RS3 for a tad more and the performance is totally night and day.
Ryan the Boston Detailer You should have driven the M240 convertible which is what I have and LOVE it! The 2 series is closer to the size of the Audi 3 you got and handles much more responsively. The Audi's I drove had a more numb feeling steering and I didn't want a 4 door. That's why they make all kinds and models and options, I guess! I also love the free maintenance for 3 yrs which Audi doesn't have. Guess we're Both Happy with our decisions.
Ryan the Boston Detailer There is a 10" difference in the wheelbase between the 340 and the RS3 which makes a Huge difference in sportiness. That's why the M240 gets rave reviews and awards. Only 2" difference between the M240 and Rs3 but the A3 convertible felt small and rather cheap! Dealership didn't stock the S or R versions!
He said that because there’s a S5 coupe that’s a 2dr. Then they made the S5 4dr hatchback. I’m a previous owner of the 2dr but this time I’m getting the 4dr
Kia looks like an fake Audi. Remember, it was Kia who had to hire an ex Audi designer who came along and made kias look like cheap audis not the other way around
The S5 Sportback looks very sharp. Saw one on the road the other day and loved it. Great job Audi
God Speed 913 idk why but it looks too plain in my taste.
Audi left some rooms for RS5 apparently. Put RS style grill to a S5 and it looks x2 more aggresive
This video's format makes it feel like it's from 1997.
so is the host guy in the beginning in his grandpas suite
I wasn't even born in 97
When the sport back looks more like a coupe than the coupe does

Arman Pabla Agreed. This is a completely new engine. Shame on Motor Week!
same motor with turbocharger
Prashanth S No it’s not you can’t swap the supercharger for a turbocharger and call it the same engine. It needs to be completely changed to accommodate a turbo
No it doesn't .. Its the same motor.. I'll wait while you search for some marketing wank to say otherwise...

Those Pennsylvania inspection stickers just jump out at you in the beginning
Best looking factory wheels
6500 redline is kinda low wonder if a tune raises that
So glad they brought this to america . Wish we could get the v8 version tho
would probably sell less than 200 a year
That's called the RS5 ✌
And, yes it's available in 🇺🇸
Why does this entire video sound like an infomercial?

That Navigation system is pretty responsive
S5 sportback in my dream
The blue sport coat reminds me of the 90s.

Bruh it’s a KIA.
The interior looks MUCH better with the carbon fibre inlays tho
The 2018 Regal Sportback just needs a 3.0TT from the CT6 and it would be game over on price.
Except the Regal is U-G-L-Y. No thanks.
why would you pay 10k more for a s5 , than a stinger gt that has similar performance ?
because Stinger is a boat, looks like shit, and fake exhaust sounds are for pussies
U smoking crack if u think that stinger can run with this
+ganymedeIV4 lol
_only _*_HAMSTERS_*_ do!!! lol listening to _*_gaga_*_ no less PUKE! lmao_

Nice machine!
Req. orderd... fulll over, coming on 18. Waiting... overriding outright.
-RKd3 (PSN2)
That fuel economy is mindbogglingly good. A new Corolla doesn't do much better than these and these are obviously the more desirable vehicles.
Looks beautiful but too much chrome. Audi needs to make the Black Optic package available here in the states.
Nice but so damn expensive
Might be the best looking car ever since the Ford Tempo
I would use a different tone of voice for car reviews.

The back of it looks like those new Chevy sedans I see at the airport rental parking lot
It's funny the sedan has more power than the coupe
Why buying a front wheel drive car like audi for bmw and benz prices?
Audi's are all wheel drive
Does anyone else out there think cars are looking too much alike? This one resembles the new Ford Fusion and doesn't look $30,000 better!
Steve Schultz Try driving both, then you will see the difference.
Tom Cramer i drive BMWs so I do know the difference! There IS a BIG price difference too!
Steve Schultz I drove a new 340i and wasn’t that impressed for 60k. That is overpriced. Got a new RS3 for a tad more and the performance is totally night and day.

So why does Audi even have an A4 when you can get the A5 with 4 doors????
one is for companies to give to their executives the other is for the executives
LOL makes sense
gasverbrunnungsmotor uber den ganzen erde. ich bestehe darauf. sie hat an shonheit abgewinnen.
The front grill looks like the Genesis g80 because of the bottom swooping line connecting the bottom grill corner vents
I scrolled by this so fast thought it was a Hyundai.
Stinger twin turbo 4.6 seconds
Can you say Honda Accord and Kia Stinger, so many areas where they are the same lol.
Isn't the Accord Front wheel drive?
If a car has four doors you shouldn't even say the word "coupe".
He said that because there’s a S5 coupe that’s a 2dr. Then they made the S5 4dr hatchback. I’m a previous owner of the 2dr but this time I’m getting the 4dr
Looks like a Ford Fusion , Hyundai Sonata New design .. hate me or not the old A5 looks better And more mean for a coupe .
Looks like a kia...
Kia is better value , we got
4.6 in Australia
Kia looks like an fake Audi. Remember, it was Kia who had to hire an ex Audi designer who came along and made kias look like cheap audis not the other way around
Yeah it competes with the Kia Stinger.
your mom looks like a Kia
Bmo SWFL you look like a Kia
That red looks like cheap lipstick. It does nothing for the car.
This car is slow
Too many doors!
More doors more whores.
13.1 seconds with that much power is sad. With 2 less gears, this engine would be a hoot. But, audi hasnt learned that this isnt what consumers want.
Ford fusion sport, less depreciation and more torque than this car.
And much more time spent by the side of the road, plus the interior is not even a comparison, is it?
