    Thank you so much for this video! I never knew about the color under the stem. That is extremely helpful. 😀

    I found your channel a few days ago and it’s changed everything for me. Bc of my adhd, I’m really weird about fruit and vegetables and I wasn’t getting enough because I wasn’t sure how to properly pick them out. I’ve started buying more fruit and veggies thanks to you and I’m super excited about it!

    I don't squeeze its not fair coz ur bruising it just like the other people is doing. If you want to to squeeze just press gently. . But the best way You just look for a not green avocado, peel off the stem and if brown its ripe. If you buy green they ripen within 2 days in a brown bag.

      Partly correct. Yes, don't squeeze w/ fingertips as it WILL cause bruising. Use full length of one finger to roll over avocado side to side. This will give you an idea of internal flesh consistency. 2nd DO NOT take stem off. This WILL cause browning to inside flesh under stem area.

      @@TC-vl9ij Thanks. That's true. Some of them the stem was already gone. If it's not too brown it's ok especially when u can still see greeniyish inside where stem fell off.
      I love all the videos with other fruits too. Very helpful and I have shared them with friends and family. 👍🏽❤️

    Rather than put thumb dents in them, I squeeze the entire thing. It works perfectly and doesn’t damage the rest.

    Oh, the produce managers are going to have a meltdown! Squeeze VERY GENTLY, so as not to damage the fruit. If it gives ever so slightly, VERY, VERY, SLIGHTLY, it is ready to buy, and prob. ready to eat if left on the counter for a day or two - depending on how ripe you like them/ or what you plan to do with them. Buy them if they are black or almost black, look good. If you remove the stem, you need to pay for it!

    I just subscribed to your channel. I'm on my way to the market and needed this information about the avocados. I've one question... After I've made my purchase how long will the avocados last before they start to go bad. Also how can I store and keep the other half from turning brown?

    • @FoodChainTV
      @FoodChainTV  7 місяців тому +1

      You can freeze them for later use. To keep them from turning brown you squeeze or rub lemon juice or vinegar on them.

    I vant find anything that mentions the "freckles" inside. Every single avocado i have ever split open has these "freckles" and they are indeed brown. It looks like the avocado you have in this video has them as well. Is this just a normal thing? Excuse my ignorance lol but I've never experimented much because i have never been able to figure them out lmfao

      @@detroiterhere4897 Buy them under ripe a few days ahead of time, or if you like lots of black spots when you cut them open, buy the ones that everybody has squeezed their fingers into like he is telling you.

    • @FoodChainTV
      @FoodChainTV  9 місяців тому

      Brown spots are just oxidation (oxygen starting to break down the fat). If brown spots smell/taste old, don't eat it. If brown spots smell/taste fine, you can eat them.
