Thanks girlie. I’m trying to eat healthier and I like the taste of plain avacado, now I can tell which ones will be good to eat right away and which I can hold onto for later.
I tried avocado once, but based on what you said, I definitely left it too long. It was nasty lol. I have no idea how to pick a good avocado. I'll use your tips, and try to pick a good one again. I want to give avocado 1 more try, since I think I messed up tasting it last time. I just grabbed one, but didn't get to trying it for a little over a week.
Same with me. I wanted to make some guacamole. It was horrible. I started just buying the already made. With this video, I'm going to try one more time, before I throw in the towel completely 😂.
It depends if it’s just from bruising or oxidation. If most of the avocado is green inside we’ll just mash it together. You can also just scoop that little bit out and discard. If brown because bad, no, I’d toss.
NO MORE WAITING FOR AVOCADOS TO GET RIPE! This is how i do them hard ones! To make them softer! Put them into the micro wave 2 min. If its not soft. Put back another 2 min. I got tried of every day squeezing them roll them around and trying to bruise them.. Hey it worked! The guacamole was darker green >> but hey it worked
@@KnowYourProduce I think you will love it> like i do. Quick, Easy, Plus it last longer, from turning brown and black The Guacamole is a darker green ! but. HEY ITS GREAT 👍👍 i just started doing this Last week, is how i know. I started out 30 second in the micro way, and it wasn't long enough. So just up to 2 min one was just a little soft but yet hard > It WORK GREAT on that 1 for 2 min > Next one was hard as a rock. i put in there for 2 min. Was still hard. Put back another 2 min and it was perfect 👌👌😁😁
@@chizyilin6369 On high, also the Avocados Don't get black > They keep longer for guacamole! ITS MY GO TO WAY NOW 👉👉 BECAREFUL! THERE TO HOT TO HANDLE! Take them out with a small hand towel Let them cool down some, to take the seed and skin off.. Some times the skin will crack under the heat. ITS OK !
Always get the bright green ones so you know there’s no bruising from ppl squeezing it cuz you know everybody squeezes the dark ones. Let it sit on your countertop for 4-7 days and your good to go!
What about when avocados looks ripe but they never seem to get ripe enough to eat….ie rubbery one. I’ve heard it has to do with when they are picked and if picked too soon they may never ripen. Is there a way to avoid these at the store. I’ve wasted so much money buying these.😢
This is why I usually only go for avocado from Mexico 😥 For some reason whenever we get them from Peru they're a hit or a huge miss. They can often be watery, rubbery, and just unpleasant. I love it creamy and soft. My top picks for brands are Mission or Avocados from Mexico.
i just had to show this video to my boyfriend because i’ve been craving avocados and he keeps getting me the brownest stringiest and hardest avocados 😭🤦🏻♀️
Without actually seeing your actual avocado I cannot tell you whether it would be safe to consume or not. If an avocado is exposed to air it will cause oxidation causing it to become brown. An avocado can spoil.
@@KnowYourProduce ooe okay I'll wait for it to ripe it's like a stone 😅. And then check this was my first avocado someone gave it to me let's see. Also a big big thank u u cleared almost every doubt now whenever I'll pick an avocado ik what to check a big thank u💜💜💜💜
Lately, all the avocados I’ve gotten from Aldi are from South America, like from Peru or Colombia. For some reason, even though they’re ripe, they’re all rubbery and not creamy? Is that just how South American avocados are?
Ideally, wait for it to ripen. Or you can do it like Chipotle does and mash it with some ripe ones 😂 Sometimes you can refrigerate it to allow it to ripen, but it depends on how underripe the avocado is though.
I grew up in southern California and my grandpa had an avocado tree and I grew up eating these 2-3 times a week. One thing to remember, is when they are ripening at your home, don't let them touch each other. They like to be alone. She is totally right about the stems. I always make sure they have their little thingy on them or I don't buy them. A method of making your avocados ripe quick, fast, and in a jiffy is by burying them in rice. NOTE: Much like produce, uncooked rice contains loads of ethylene gas, which helps push the process along. ENJOY!
I would keep it room temperature on the counter to ripen naturally, or you can place into a paper bag to ripen a little quicker. I wouldn't refrigerate as that will slow down or even completely stop the ripening process depending on how under ripe it is.
Some do it in the microwave or even the oven but I much rather just place on the counter for 2-3 days. You can also place in a brown bag with a banana. Just make sure you check them as they can get ripe and then overripe quickly.
Every time I buy abucao.. I hate soo much.. Not good.. And I don't like... I want plane ang grenn.. I don't like they have a small block!! How to check if good or not?
Nobody should be pressing them enough that they are bruising. I actually purchased some green and check for ripeness at home so by the time I’m checking they’re ready to use. 😉
“That one was ready, YESTERDAY” lol
So sad and so true 😂
Very informative, better than several avacado-picking videos on UA-cam!!!

the video is great, thank you🤍, but should i store the avocado in the fridge or its better to store it out side ?
Thank you! And you’re so welcome! Store on the counter if it’s not ripe, but once it’s ripe store it in the fridge :)

We have a few ways of making them ripe, but that’s a great tip for quick and easy. Will have to give it a try :-)

Thanks. I was wondering why otherwise perfect avocadoes were brown at the top.
You're welcome! Avocado + air = brown. This is why we always submerge our guacamole in water or use citrus juice to prevent it from browning.
very informative. When if comes to cuisine I don't think the bar should be set at Chipotle though. lol
Sadly, that’s where most people find out and try guacamole. 🥹
Great tips 👍👍. Will avocado 🥑 grow in the Southeast US?
Southern parts of Florida, yes, but further up, not so much.

Yes! I rarely buy a ripe avocado in store. 🥳 we always get a bunch of green and follow the rest at home.
thanks

My avocado I'd green but has brown spots here & there is it ok? To consume after it turns dark brown in colour

For the most part, yes! I won’t buy any unless they’re from Mexico.
“They’re doing it at Chipotle” 😂😂😂
😅
If you cut open an Avocado too soon and its not ready yet, then what options do we have? or is it wasted.

Great tips!! Oh how I wish I had an avocado tree 😍
Is there any way to tell if the avocado has a small or big seed inside?
A longer avocado typically has a smaller seed whereas a rounder and shorter avocado has a larger one.
You should advise everyone to wash their produce well before slicing.
Absolutely, we always do, I may have forgotten to mention here as it’s how to pick it out, not how to cut/slice etc.
How can i turn my mango from green and not tasty to yellow and fully ready to eat what's the best way ??
I would keep it room temperature on the counter to ripen naturally, or you can place into a paper bag to ripen a little quicker. I wouldn't refrigerate as that will slow down or even completely stop the ripening process depending on how under ripe it is.
@@KnowYourProduce thx 🙏❤️
I just started eating them but I am getting frustrated. I have been buying 3 at a time and throwing away at once 1 of them.
Before or after this video? Peru have been the easiest to find, but we highly recommend from Mexico if you can find them.
I love avocados and it’s impossible for me to find a perfect one. Rip to all the avocados I bought
We hope you find some good ones now! 🥳
I don't know how to define fresh avocado...that's why, I'm here..who's w/me?😅
You got this!!
My store only had rock hard avocados. How can I ripen them quickly or do I just need to wait?
Some do it in the microwave or even the oven but I much rather just place on the counter for 2-3 days. You can also place in a brown bag with a banana. Just make sure you check them as they can get ripe and then overripe quickly.
Dont squeeze avocados at the store. That will just leave bruised avocados for the next person.
No one should squeeze an avocado too tight that it would bruise. A gentle touch with not too much pressure will not hurt or bruise the avocado.
Every time I buy abucao.. I hate soo much.. Not good.. And I don't like... I want plane ang grenn.. I don't like they have a small block!! How to check if good or not?
This video will walk you through how to pick out a good Hass avocado. I’m not sure what you mean by block?
Yeah what if the Avos u get never ripe while staying hard n going bad wtf
What type of avocados did you purchase? For the best texture, we buy Hass avocados, preferably from Mexico.
Stop pressing avocados - you’re bruising them lol
Nobody should be pressing them enough that they are bruising. I actually purchased some green and check for ripeness at home so by the time I’m checking they’re ready to use. 😉
you don't squeeze avocado
"give it a little squeeze" Don't squish it, but yes, a gentle squeeze.
Thanks I’m always cursed with mushy yellow or pale green avocados.
Happy avocado hunting 🥳
Thanks
