Are they also alloy cases that were advertised as stainless steel though?
I brought the blue and white dial and love them. Paid £38 for the blue and got the white for £25 not put off at all by anything in the watch at this price but that at the end is bad!!

Interesting discovery that the case is made from nickel plated zinc alloy, rather than solid stainless steel. Embarrassing Benyar misspelled stainless as sainless on the exhibition caseback. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.
Ugh yeah that gap on the lugs with a strap is an issue for sure. It seems like Benyar is a hit or miss kind of brand from what I experienced and what you pointed out too. I have a Tisell Explorer on the way so I’m excited to review that on my channel soon. Good review man, always helps to see others’ experiences for some popular watches! 😎🍻👍

I have the Tisell. Pretty happy with it. A little gritty and noisy movement but par for the course. Good proportions. One of my favorite watches for visibility.

I personally think alot of high polished cases are just chrome plated. The clue is how light it is. Solid 316L stainless is heavy

I think they are great value watches and make nice presents for family and friends.
If they'd been honest about the materials used, I'd probably agree.
I did see Gary from ILW review this and thought he ignored a lot of issues, especially when he had it on the timegrapher and ignored how badly the movement was running, glad to see you were a lot more critical although I think those short hands are worth mentioning. Great review as always 👍
That was why I had to check if it was just a one off, or the norm. At least now we know.

And yes I had just done a post elsewhere on the real very poor quality of Benyar watches, Pagani Design (I only bought one and I quickly understood my pain), etc, in this price level these watches are in fact only all smoke and mirrors. I think that only those who have no quality comparison believe they are doing a bargain. I understand that not everyone can have a Breitling, a Hamilton, a Tissot, a Glycine, a Tudor, or an Eberhard & Co, etc.... to be able to compare. At the same time if a San Martin (where we have really excellent quality, we can buy with closed eyes) costs 3 times more than a Pagani it is not for nothing.
There are some good Pagani Design watches out there. The Daytona homage is one that springs to mind. But I do agree that lately they seem to be slipping a bit. As for Benyar, I won't be buying anymore of their watches, that's for sure.

I have one and it seems like the rehaut is overly deep. Its like looking into a swimming pool. The overall thickness of 14.3mm - chunky. It's not a screwdown crown. I knew that going into it, but I don't like how the crown is recessed making it hard to handwind. (You handwind without pulling out the crown). I think it was like $50 so I can't really say its a letdown. The plated case is really disappointing though.

Excellent review - almost didn't watch till the end which is when it got very interesting. I have some Chinese watches that I fear could be the same. Only recently did i realise the importance of springbar position when I bought a 40 mill Seagull 1963. The combination of lug length and springbar position meant it didn't sit well on my wrist, so I will stick with the 38 mill version.
Yeah there was definitely a twist at the end of this story.
Short hand set would also be a solid point to mention, it might factor in the buying decision for some.
oh dear, from the shot where you showed the scratch, the surface edge where the strap normally is, you can see a rough edge which is indicating a soft material, steel would never have that finish, this is a clear indication of brass or other soft material. It was also visible before your incident, we should be spotting things like this before raving these brands on YT and I am surprised Gary missed it as well. This kind of thing is why I don't wear any chinese watches: because most of the YT reviews cannot be trusted, sadly.
Fantastic that there is a local return center in the UK, because having to return things to China is a real pain.

Damn, mine is already on the way. I even WROTE AND ASKED THEM if the case is steel or only back&bracelet, and they said steel. Are there any return centers on the continent? Or should I just go for a partial refund?
They're clearly trying to deceive people then. I'm not sure. If you go to the listing for the watch on AliExpress, does it show up saying 'Free Return' in the shipping section?

No, there's only a 75-day refund policy and a 1 year warranty. Maybe I'm just blind. Assuming it's not there, how much do you think I can realistically get back if the watch is otherwise fine? 33%? 50%?
Btw. somebody should really ask Gary to add this to his review. With cheap watches ACTUALLY TESTING for steel should be the norm, even if it may have been unintentional that's really awesome from you.

Might do the same and return mine. Not happy with the dial.. I have the white one. The dial is a very thin soft plastic that deforms where the indices are applied and in the centre. It really bugs me and I can't stop seeing it. I just can't wear it.
If you're not happy with, then definitely send it back.

Yes I did. After the watches were received at the return centre in the UK, the refund process was started. It wasn't too long at all.
Its not often that accidentally scratching a watch can be a good thing! A nice discovery and a good warning to potential buyers.
I know it's crazy isn't it? When it happened I was a bit gutted, even though it's only a cheap watch... But then when I looked at the damage I was shocked. So I had to rush the out, to let people know asap.
Not a bad watch for its money, although that alloy case is a bummer. Benyar is always cutting costs but in the most important areas, really. Buying it is like a lottery

Benyar previously co-produced watches with their sister brand, Pagani Design/Pagrne Design. The cheap movement, and the plated copper case (portrayed as All Stainless), would totally make me think twice about buying any Benyar in the future. DOM watches were also much better quality a few years ago, but now many of the Chinese watch brands seem to be in a race to the bottom.

I think because the warranty is provided by aliexpress not the seller so seller should not endorse their own warranty card.
Good video, why so bothered it's not fully stainless steel tho? Alloy would be just as strong for general use surely?
The case is plated, so over time it will wear away and also scratch off. Revealing the copper coloured alloy underneath.

It is true, Benyar does not offer watches with a stainless steel case, they are always made of chromed brass, that bad publicity works for them to sell more units.

Benyar never really appealed to me and I have no problem with Aliexpress watches , I think they are just a step too far in terms of cost cutting and you might as well pay a bit more for a better watch .

What a plot twist huh? You've gone above and beyond other reviewers (though by accident) to test not only for sapphire crystal but also for stainless steel case haha. That makes me wonder if their Daytona homage with the Sunon PE903 movement is also a brass case.
Also, that watch in the middle with the green racing stripe really caught my eye, but I couldn''t figure out the brand. What watch is that exactly?
Yeah I was shocked as well to be honest, when I looked at it. That's one I've just got in for review. So keep an eye out for that. It'll probably be after Christmas now though.
Proper (high copper) brass wouldn't be that bad, but in my experience the Chinese brands use "zinc alloy" and are skimping on copper, it's primarily zinc and the rest is mystery metal.
That cheap mixture is easier to scratch and far less resistant against acid than proper brass.

Yeah, that is the issue with very cheap watches, when it is too good to be true, it generally is and mean something is wrong :)

As for the explorer, after seeing so many reviews on other brands (alpha, borealis, parnis...) I went for the tisell, and have to say, I am really impressed with the quality for the money, not perfect bracelet but great watch...

I do have other Pagani Design watches that are good though. Just need to be careful with doing research before buying I guess.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR yeah, I've got 3 paganis already, and they are all perfectly fine, but when they are being deceptive at the lower end with the benyar stuff, and have major qc and design issues at the end they are trying to elevate the price, it makes me think they've dropped the ball somewhat, I don't think I'd buy another too quickly unless things improve.
I see no advantage to this movement (for the consumer), over a Sea-Gull ST16. Even if you argue that the autowinder design is more efficient than a unidirectional winder, at that price point a Dixmont DG2813 would be an reasonable upgrade over this junky G2666Z. From my experience, the DG2813 and ST16 are fairly equivalent in reliability and accuracy. I doubt the G2666Z is quite as good, and its power reserve is lacking. Tongji based automatics are lower tier movements, and I'd be surprised if someone has been able to improve the design enough to justify their use in a 40 Euro watch.

You should have put the warnings about the case at the beginning of the video not at the end. A lot of people will part watch the video, not read the comments and go away thinking it was a favourable review.
If they miss the title warning as well, that's on them.
This is why you should always watch videos until the end. You wouldn't leave a film before the ending. Not that I'm comparing my videos to films. But you get the idea.

I’ve always thought benyar cases don’t fee right. Now we see why.
I also think it’s funny that they kinda cover their asses on the case back because they don’t say it’s stainless steel….they say it’s sainless steel. So I guess they didn’t lie. That seems like real “sainless” steel to me. 🤦♂️
Perhaps it's a deliberate "mistake", as you say to cover themselves.

My Winner is chrome plated brass, it was $18. It also said it was an alloy case in the description so at least they're honest. Ish. 40mm (dial) is kinda sneaky but I read it before I bought it.

Benyar is notorious. They claim many of their cases are stainless steel but they are not. They also claim sapphire crystals and they are not. The end links are completely brushed and do not match the watch at all. All in all, pretty poor and I would recommend avoiding this brand at all costs.

Benyar is actually a sister brand of Pagani Design.
On the whole though Pagani Design watches are pretty good. San Martin however are a step above. If you checkout my other videos I have reviews on a few from both brands.

Nothing to like about this, crappy bracelet that cannot be sized properly and looks awful on the strap. On the case copper you see is likely to be from the nickel plating process, under that will be Chinese monkey metal not brass. Brushed bracelet plated case looks wrong. Another bit of crap from the swindlers at AliExpress
