    None of those negatives would bother me. It’s very cheap and very very beautiful. Buy it, wear it, enjoy it, then when you get sick of it give to someone that doesn’t own a watch.

    Another superlative review! The quality issues are a real shame. The watch looks great...and most of us would pull the trigger if it had a real 317L stainless-steel case, a higher quality 20mm bracelet and zero spelling errors. Inwood pay $80 US for a watch with those attributes.

    Thanks for your review. Being a bit of a watch collector, I’ve fallen prey to the Chinese homage watches. I guess it started with Invicta, then to Pagani and finally now I have my first and probably the my last Benya, the milgauss design. Owning a number of classic Swiss timepieces I’m not too bothered by the shortcomings of the Benya. I’m surprised about the non-stainless steel case although they did correct their spelling mistake on the case back. As for the bracelet, it’s not the quality of a Pagani item and without a micro adjustment, I couldn’t get the fit right. It was either too tight or too loose. I’ve replaced it with a nylon strap. Interestingly, I found casting lines inside the lugs which are an odd 21mm wide!
    I’m not too concerned about “to the second” accuracy as I’m pretty hard on watches- why else does one buy cheap watches? I knew the owner of the Jules Jurgensen watch company. The once famous Swiss watch maker was sold in 1974 to a Philadelphia businessman who sourced his products from China.

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  3 роки тому +4

      Thank you for watching Tam. Glad you enjoyed it. I always try to review pieces objectively, and give an unbiased review talking about both the negatives and positives of the piece, regardless of the price point. I watched other reviews of this piece, and was disappointed that none of them mentioned the misspelling of stainless as "sainless" on the caseback. Things like this are precisely what a collector needs to know from a watch review; as they are the things that would upset them after buying the watch and finding out later. As you know, I have reviewed several Benyar pieces on my channel and given the brand a fair chance to meet my criteria; a watch should be both excellent quality and excellent value at the respective price point. Sadly they have really put me off the brand with this piece. Of course it is harder to remain unbiased as a watch reviewer when one is being paid by a brand, or gifted a watch; in return for reviewing it. The brand expects the watch reviewer to give a wholly positive review to help increase their sales of the piece. Hopefully this review shows critics of my content; that despite some brands paying me, and gifting me pieces, my reviews are still honest and unbiased. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.

    I might have a suggestion since your content is very good (one of the best actually). The thumbnails of the videos aren't as nice as a camera shot of the watch piece, I think people are more keen to click on an aesthetically pleasing thumbnail when picking a video

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you for watching, and your suggestion. The Google algorithms rank the content, regardless of what the thumbnail image is. A video is ranked according to the number of views, the like/dislike ratio, the hashtags used in the description, and the number of searches coming from Google, and UA-cam search engine searches. The views are generated from the algorithms suggesting the content to viewers; rather than the viewer choosing to click on a video based upon an image being "aesthetically pleasing" or not. I like the images I use in my video thumbnails so will not be changing them. In simple terms, viewers searching for a specific review of a watch will click on a video regardless of whether a rendered image, photograph, or text and image thumbnail are used. It isn't as simple as viewers clicking on "aesthetically pleasing thumbnails" more. I started my channel 22nd February this year, and from 107 videos to date my channel has generated over 542K views. I am satisfied with this performance, and do not think using a different style of thumbnail image would have improved upon that performance. Regards.

      @@watchreviews4k sir, please forgive me, i absolutely don t want to offend you in any wat. Your work is absolutely awesome. I m your sincere subscriber, and i love your work. Sometimes i watch a single video 10 times, your work is really that good. I also understand you re happy with the amount of views and all. But i absolutely agree with this gentleman, even though it s absolutely up to you what you choose. Your videos are close to 10/10. The thumbnails make you injustice, and are 3/10. If you would use real shots thumbnails, like whatchfinder does, i really think will help you improve. It s such a difference in value between your videos and those thumbnails. It was just a happy coincidence when i first clicked on it. It looked poor - chinese style. After that, i realised i was wrong, and that you really bring value to the watch community. Anyway, i hope you could think about it. No matter what, i ll still be your loyal subscriber, and keep on sharing your videos. With respect, from Romania, keep up the good work!

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  3 роки тому +1

      @@Crossulin No offence taken. As a content creator one has to make decisions on the style of content one makes, and style of thumbnails one uses. Everyone has their own opinion of what is best. Often the viewers aren't content creators themselves; and do not have a watch channel. So their perspective of what is best is from a viewers perspective, rather than from the content creators perspective. A content creator is privy to the analytics of the channel, something the viewer cannot see. So the viewer may look at a video and think it would gain more; likes, views, subscribers, if the thumbnail for that video were changed. However they can't see the analytics of that video and therefore make an informed decision why some videos perform better than others. The style of thumbnail isn't one of the main drivers of the algorithms which rank the video. For example; clickbait content with "Rolex" in the video title will gain more views than other content; regardless of whether the video thumbnail is a; rendered image, photograph, or image with text. The viewer will click on the video due to the clickbait Rolex title regardless. The other factor is this; some viewers are seeing the thumbnails on laptops, tablets, smartphones. Therefore the image needs to be clearly legible on all these devices. I use rendered images, and also photo images, of watches; but in both cases they show a clear image of the watch on all devices. In any case, the video title says what the watch is anyway. The point is, some viewers like the thumbnails I use, some dislike the them. As a content creator one just has to make the decision to do what one personally likes, rather than trying to please a plethora of recommendations from viewers. I do appreciate the feedback, and sometimes make changes to my content based upon that. For example, in my early videos I used a 30 second introduction. I received feedback from viewers saying the intro was too long, so I reduced it down to 10 seconds. I then had criticism the music should be changed, and the volume level was too loud. So you see one cannot please every viewer. One has to just make the content one wants to. Regards.

    This is an old review. The latest versions of this Benyar have corrected most of the complaints and the QC is much improved. All these complaints for a bargain entry mechanical for the price of $28 USD is a bit of expecting too much. Many of the desired features are had from a watch costing 100% more.
    The 21mm lug width unfortunately still exists.
    The case back spelling error is gone.
    The case is no zinc, too heavy to be zinc. It's likely brass.
    The case arrived with no flaws as stated.
    The same oyster style 3 link bracelet is used but the link spacing is tighter. Still a solid link bracelet with solid end links!
    And my version's regulation is within those watches with NH35 movements.
    Are there items I wished it had done differently, yes of course, the case bezel dia. could be 39mm, the lug width at 20mm. The handset size would look more proportional. But I see why they did this, so that this entry level offering does not competed with their Pagani Design up-market offering in this style. But we get the same factory quality manufacture as a Pagani Design in a Benyar.
    I found this model and the Benyar 'Oyster Perpetual' in numerous dial colors to be excellent beater mechanical watch values.

    I think it would be a solid deal for 20€, nice for modding and occational wearing, you can always regulate them yourself after all. The real issue here (apart from the current price) is that they literally lied to my face about the case material.

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you for watching. Unfortunately the Hong Tai G2666Z is a difficult movement to regulate; as it is an unstable movement. I concur with your sentiments regarding the case material lie; that is wholly unacceptable. Unfortunately many collectors have been duped after watching reviews that fail to mention this; only finding out after purchasing the piece which they now regret. Although sometimes I am paid by brands, and gifted pieces, to review them; I try to make my reviews credible, honest, and unbiased; discussing the positives and negatives of a piece. A collector can then make an informed decision on whether to purchase the piece or not. Regards.

      Unstable in terms of position, temperature or main spring wind?

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  3 роки тому +2

      @@Alias_Anybody The base movement is mostly the old Tongji design used by many manufacturers, but the auto-winding uses the Magic Lever system pioneered by Seiko. The problem isn't the design; its the poor materials, build quality, and quality control, from Shandong Liaocheng Zhong Tai Watch Company. The parts are poorly finished, and that causes poor performance overall; the beat rate of 21,600 vph isn't stable as a result. Regards.

    • @Alias_Anybody
      @Alias_Anybody 3 роки тому +2

      @@watchreviews4k
      I knew it was a Tongji (the thickness and the design are typical), but it uses the Magic Lever system? Interesting to know, so it will at least wind up well. I meant if the accuracy changes depending on a high/low power reserve (is an issue with some movements), but if it's not well made and unstable in general that won't matter too much I guess. It's ultimately a gamble, I have an even cheaper Tongji and it's -15 seconds per day which is decent enough. Thanks for the Reply!
      Just one tiny last question: Do you know of any manufacturer who's producing Tongjis with the same quality standards as Seiko? Would be interesting to see that design shine for once.

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  3 роки тому +4

      @@Alias_Anybody I do not know of any manufacturers producing Tongji movements to Seiko quality standards. The NH35A is now a very popular, and inexpensive movement for Chinese brands. Better build quality, accuracy, quality control. For quartz chronographs the Sunon PE902, and Seiko VK63 have become the popular options; with the latter having better build quality, and reliability.
      The lack of hacking on the G2666Z is another reason for the NH35A being a better option. Also it is easier to regulate to better accuracy as its a better made movement overall.
      It is a given that automatic movements will perform most accurately when the mainspring is fully wound. This is why Rolex have COSC certify their movements when their movements are 100% fully wound. Rather than Omega using METAS to certify their movements when they are 30% of their power reserve; which is a more real-life situation. The G2666Z's lack of accuracy isn't related to whether the mainspring is fully wound or not; it is due to the poor quality finishing, and build quality of the movement. If the parts were better made, and the build quality, and quality control better; then the design would support it being better regulated to better than the +/- 45 secs/day stated. It really is a gamble as you said, whether one gets a good or bad G2666Z.
      The NH35A tends to be a more consistent movement with regards to build quality, and therefore accuracy. Overall I consider it to be a more stable, more reliable, more durable movement.
      Regards.

    At that price I wasn’t expecting too much. I’d more or less competent written off the bracelet quality, but it looks like every corner has been cut on this watch. It’s a real shame because it looks great (obviously as it’s a homage). Pity they didn’t up the price and bring more quality to the build. That’s for the review, I’ll be sure not to buy one. Thank you for watching Mario. Glad you enjoyed it. I try to give all watches I review a fair chance to meet my criteria of being both excellent quality, and excellent value at the respective price point. Regardless of the price point, I review a 10 Euro Casio F-91W with the same respect as my 10K Euro Rolex Submariner Date. Yes, I know it appears pretentious to be handling an F-91W with white gloves; but it is important to have consistency regardless of whether the piece is low-tier, mid-tier, or high-tier. I have reviewed several Benyar watches on my channel and given them a fair chance. Of course one has to expect cost cutting measures in the low tier; in order to make their low retail price viable for the brand. However the misspelling of stainless as sainless is unforgiveable. Also the false marketing of "All Solid Stainless Steel"; when in reality the case, bezel, and rehaut are zinc alloy which is nickel plated. The caseback, bracelet, and crown; are the only stainless steel parts in reality. In conclusion I think Pagani Design; such as the PD-1661 Cermit I recently reviewed; should be the minimum price point a collector should consider in Chinese made low-tier watches. The curious thing is; both Benyar, and Pagani Design are made by the same factory. They get the spelling right on Pagani Design watches, so there is no reason for making the mistake on a Benyar; as both exhibition casebacks are laser engraved in the same place. Regards.

    Interesting. It is definitely a lacking watch overall but... I dunno... review seems pretty harsh. Or maybe unrealistic expectations. I bought this exact watch for $36 shipped last year. I wear it maybe two days in a row every couple months. It was my first Explorer-ish watch and... I still don't think it's terrible. Mine runs about 12-15 seconds fast per day. It looks great from two feet away, doesn't feel terrible on wrist. Mine didn't have any sharp edges on the underside. Definitely don't love the bracelet but it's passable. Mine does have a couple finish issues, not scratches or dings like your actual blemish, but a couple of those 'finish over a different substrate'. Honestly, I didn't think about it not actually being stainless steel. The misspelling I can forgive. False advertising, not so much. Still think it's a very decent value. Maybe 6/10. For actual quality, maybe 3/10 among real watches. I'd definitely take it over a $40 Timex which is what it's really competing against, in my opinion.

      So I wore the watch the last two days. I did have it on a 21mm Barton silicon I bought for pretty cheap. In about 40 hours, it was 21 seconds fast so roughly 12.5 seconds fast per day. Pretty bad but still a bit better than your sample. Mine does say 'Stainless' steel and looking at it... I feel that mine is stainless steel. Can't be sure, but mine does seem to have more consistent of a finish than yours. Hands are definitely about 3mm too short and not quite as wide as I'd prefer. I dunno. For $36 shipped for a watch that looks pretty fantastic from a foot away, has a great dial and indices and that still works 19 months later... I think I'll give it 7/10 for value. The bracelet it just junk. I was able to size it pretty well but absolute bottom of the line clasp with no micro-adjust, hollow end links, a few sharp corners, too many gaps, rough inside finishing (between the links) and mine has one really tight endlink to first link connection that likes to hang up... the bracelet is absolute junk but an $11 silicon strap or a NATO... I still think you can do worse for the money. Of course, another $30 gets you a Pagani or Addiesdive/Steeldive of a somewhat similar design with a better movement but the Benyar is closer to an Explorer and I still feel it's one of the best looking watches I've ever seen for under $50 new.

    Excellent review John,
    The poor quality is unfortunate. They could have done a better job.
    It's bad enough they used a poorly made stamped clasp.
    The bracelet is pure garbage. Misspelling stainless is just too much.
    Benyar have gone downhill skiing with this watch.............. without the skis.............through a minefield.
    Thank you for the honest review.

    China movement?

    Oh dear, a misspelling of the word "stainless", an illegitimate claim of a stainless steel construction, and a copied design. All in all,my Vostok Amphibia blows this Benyar homage out of the water.

    Perhaps they meant "Saint-less" ;-) - Or: Sense-less... ;-)
    Serious: Why do such big Factories not ask a Native Speaker to control the Text...?

      Thank you for watching Achim. Yes, spelling mistakes on Chinese watches are common. They could just Google the words before production to check. Regards.

      @@fabriziodutto7508 It´s not a spelling mistake, seen that before, so they can cover my a..like "Roulex" ore "Tudoor"..........

    Benyar is trash. Go Pagani, San Martin, Parnis, Sugess or Steeldive.
