Their trips mostly over, Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro from Traffic) deals with Lucy over the phone (pretending that he is being savagely beaten by thugs) as Duke (Johnny Depp from Edward Scissorhands, Arizona Dream and Pirates of the Caribbean) attempts to mellow out by trying some of Gonzo's stash of adrenochrome.

What’s the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas movie about?
In 1971, the journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp from Edward Scissorhands, Arizona Dream and Pirates of the Caribbean), accompanied by his lawyer, Mr. Gonzo (Benicio del Toro from Traffic), was on his way to Las Vegas because he was assigned to cover a major sporting event, the 400 miles of Las Vegas. But this report is only a pretext because Duke and Gonzo took a whole range of drugs with them. When they arrive at the hotel, Duke is in the middle of an acid surge and his hallucinations draw attention to him. One morning, Duke discovers that Gonzo has flown to Los Angeles. Faced with the damage and the astronomical bill, Duke flees by car. Duke calls Gonzo and Gonzo informs him that he has booked a suite for them at the Flamingo Hotel to cover a police narcotics convention. Duke and Gonzo then go to the convention but can't make it and return to their suite. Gonzo gets Duke to try adrenochrome, then they engage in a frenzy of various drugs, with Duke remembering only scattered memories. Duke takes Gonzo to the airport and returns to the hotel to finish his article. He then returns to Los Angeles.

This actually happened when we had a roadtrip in Europe and I totally forgot there was a massive bag of marijuana on the dashboard while the officer was checking the driver if he had drank alcohol and all the passengers were tested on drugs. Anyone know how accurate the portrayal of the high is to Johnny Depp's acting?
It's a clear exaggeration in the movie and in the book and movie they were already both high on mescaline in this scene. This doesn't really show the part where the adrenochrome actually kicks in. And when it does, half of the dialogue is actually from the part in the book where Gonzo is describing the effects of jimsonweed.

Basically, Hunter S Thompson started a little piece of lore in the early 70s in this half fictional book about oxidized adrenaline (adrenochrome) being extracted from living victims by satanists who wanted to get high on it but recently Qanon people have claimed that the elites are taking it as well from sacrificed children because they think it makes them younger or something. It was always a piece of lore since the book came out but only recently have conspiracy theorists online tried to connect it with celebrities and the elite and people like Epstein and the Clintons or whoever.
