This is the kind of content I'm here for. Some hitch-hiking in the dark, state trooper capers, WalMart tv dinners, borrowing cop cars for lunch and some flying. Awesome video boys!
Great Video. I grew up 6 miles from Fulton. You were in the heart of the Kingdom of Callaway. During the civil war they attempted to succeed the from the South and north.
That's part of my briefing. I tell passengers no interruptions, and sterile cockpit. I explain stuff first, even walk first timers around the plane, explaining things, but then the serious stuff begins with the actual uninterrupted preflight.
This is what happens when you have aviation youtubers that don't even have licenses. Focusing on the content instead of the flying. Hopefully they don't TNFlygirl themselves.
@ptdave123 these guys (running the channel) are not good pilots, they are not going to listen to you. Just watch these videos, I'm shocked they haven't crashed yet
Looks great polished. I work as a Weights Engineer. When I was on C-130 the painters said they wanted to rub back the paint and add another coat as it had come out a bit orange peely. Just for the fuselage this added 80 lbs. So several coats of paint including primer would definitely double digit lbs.
Love watching the adventures. Funny enough I grew up near Fulton MO and spent lots of time there growing up. Great little restaurants and only famous for the Winston Churchill speech at Westminster College.
Well, I was cracking up. The restaurant was close at 2... FOR LUNCH! lol. The irony! Totally sounds like Missouri! I moved from California to Springfield, Missouri when I was 10 and then back to California when I 12. It's definitely different there. Waaaay more relaxed and casual. Great video! I absolutely love that plane! She's a beaut!
The Fulton, MO. airport has changed quite a bit since 1973. Soloed there in a 1968 150. The day was windy and overcast,..my instructor said, "if you can fly today,..you can fly any day." Scared,..but everything went smooth. Great to see the town again. Love your videos. Dennis
Sure go fly any chance you get but keep the priorities straight. You're not in the time building phase. You're in the learn how to fly phase. And that means lots of boring pattern work and maneuvers in addition to learning how to plan and execute cross countries. And you're definitely going to need a regular cfi to help you make progress and get you from phase to phase. You won't make much progress just flying with different random instructors. If you're actually serious about passing a checkride, quit being so impulsive, keep the one working plane you seem to have (appropriate for training at least) and train all the boring tedious stuff until you can solo and then take a checkride. Schedule it now so you will have pressure to focus and get it done. This channel will be infinitely more interesting if you guys start making real progress on your flying skills and then can fly planes on your own. You will have so much more insight into the flying you're doing and it will make for better stories.
"And you're definitely going to need a regular cfi to help you make progress and get you from phase to phase. You won't make much progress just flying with different random instructors." THIS! A THOUSAND TIMES THIS! Speaking from personal experience. "Real life," plus that issue caused it to take me FOUR YEARS to get my VFR PPL! @@PensacolaOboist it took me 2.5 years with multiple stops because I lost motivation. It felt like I wasn't making progress. I had a regular CFI but he was very disorganized. There was no plan to help me finish. And I didn't know enough at that point to make a plan for myself. It took firing that CFI and studying the ACS thoroughly to generate a self training plan. Then I found another cfi to coach me through refining the training I had been doing on my own. This was in my own plane, which makes it much more challenging to get an organized plan since it's an unfamiliar plane to a CFI and outside their normal workflow at a flight school. Anyone who is going to train in their own plane has to really take the lead on their training. Make a plan and get a cfi who can help you execute it. Or tell you that it's a bad plan and actively help make a better one. My Navy primary training was in a T-34 Mentor, similar to your Cherokee. I tried flying a 172, but with the over-wing and lift above me my landings were like a DC-10 with two-engines out. I much prefer sitting on top of the wing. Good on you guys and keep up the safe flying.
9:32 not a life hack but a good piece of advice. I saw a pilot debrief with a fatal crash of a helicopter the pilot had lost their iPad underneath the pedals. It got stuck and they couldn't pull it. Just something you might want to be careful about when you set your iPad on your lap. He couldn't reach the iPad because of the tight quarters of the cockpit. I'd recommend you lanyard if you're going to leave it loose especially if you hit turbulence and you lose it. Unfortunately they didn't survive.

What a complete waste of government resources. How much money did that cost the taxpayers? Way to go DEA. Did they get more drugs off the street? Just lazy policing!
3:31 Well the equipment list on a C172S says that the overall white paint weighs 18.4 lbs (19.2 if you add a color stripe). I'd say petty similar for your Cherokee!
You crossed thru my state I live in Peoria,IL KPIA is where I keep my 1960 beechcraft Debonair. Word of advice on the High alt it is pressure alt for the oxygen. I found that out the hard way flying out west at 9,500 My pulse ox got down to 67. I was some where over texas. I figured out the pressure alt for oxygen from local pilot out in new Mexico. Make sure you are carrying a pulse ox with you keep and Eye on it. It will sneak up on you and can bit you in the butt. I do have a portable oxygen system but I did not have it ready because I didn't think I needed it tell I was flying above 12,500 MSL. With the temp. out side I ran the numbers my pressure alt was 13,000. I was new to using the oxygen system. After that issue I will be using oxygen more often I see the benefits.
I think you might be getting density and pressure altitude mixed up. Safe oxygen levels do depend on pressure altitude not density altitude but pressure altitude is not affected by temperature.
Was born in Missouri and used to work for a beverage company, every 26 days, I was in Fulton, Mexico and Columbia Missouri. I was in Fulton on trip where they had a scare at the nuclear power plant. My boss was blowing up my pager with call shop asap. It was so quiet that day there, most didn’t know there was a false alarm at the plant. So I know that town well. It truly is a small world.
Second video I've watched of your content. First one was the 1964 Cessna D for 27k. Not a pilot. Took a flight last week in a 172 70's model. First time I ever landed in one. Back in early 90's I did five jumps out of Cessnas. My dad was a pilot in local Air Guard. Flew c-119 and c-130.
Nice video. Kind of surprised at the altitude you are flying you can't just leave things full throttle and use the mixture to get down to 65% or lower... full throttle is definitely the most efficient way to fly. I use this technique at high altitudes in the warrior I fly, it works beautifully.
Fulton is a cool small town. Winston Churchill once visited there with Harry Truman. There is a Churchill museum in town. Did you stop for fuel at Jeff City? My brother flies a Lear 45 out of Jeff City. There is a great restaurant there as well.

The paint smoothes out the rivets. Paint is heavier but less drag, polished Aluminum is lighter but has drag. Six in one hand half a dozen in the other.
Done some concrete work at the college in Fulton many years ago. If you stopped at a breaktime gas station, chances are I did the concrete for it as well.
This too funny! I live in Phoenix but am currently near Fulton visiting my son in St. Peters MO. I've been following your channel for awhile and have been waiting for you to be pegged, lol. Kind of shocked it hasn't happened before (used to be in law enforcement). The route you are taking is a very busy drug running route by car and by air. In case you are ever in the area again and need an airport try KCPS (St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia Heights Illinois). The FBO is great I've spent many hours there (my brother was a cop in Cahokia for 25 years) and we hang out there sometimes to see the expensive planes that drop off celebrities and the pro sports teams (it's easier than going to the St. Louis International, Lambert Field). They've got everything you could want or need at the FBO and you could make the 10 minute drive to the Arch and take a trip to the top! Be safe guys.
Man this is so crazy! That’s a home airport for me. I watch all your videos and all of a sudden, boom! Here you are hahah. Did yall have to do the stupid email to get the code for the crew car keys? Wish I would have known you were coming and I would have met up and helped out!
I have a place down by the border in West Texas Fly from Alpine Texas to East Texas a lot, no ADSB, and very seldom talk on the radio because I normally fly pretty low and land on my own private strip at the house. My local sheriffs office gets a call all the time about following a plane from the border landing on a private strip and then they say no it's OK it's just GB😎 Back in the early 90s I used to crop dust out of Vernon every spring.
Next flight over Texas stop at McKinney! I’ll personally pick you up and take you to Hutchin’s BBQ (great spot). As retired law enforcement I’ll take good care of you so Christian doesn’t end up in handcuffs! Great trip as always roll safe out there!
I gotta say, that polished aluminum and paint is the best looking Cherokee I've ever seen. Very nice!

I used to live in Columbia, MO but I worked at the nuclear plant in Fulton.
Safe flight, guys. i lived in Missouri for 57 years
I have a place down by the border in West Texas Fly from Alpine Texas to East Texas a lot, no ADSB, and very seldom talk on the radio because I normally fly pretty low and land on my own private strip at the house.
My local sheriffs office gets a call all the time about following a plane from the border landing on a private strip and then they say no it's OK it's just GB😎
Back in the early 90s I used to crop dust out of Vernon every spring.
I only know pi out to like 23 places, but that was absolutely correct lol
Hi Texas state troopers. Y’all look pretty goofy right about now.😂😂
That was an awesome video. Good job as always man. I’d love to come along with you guys sometime. I wish you were closer.
Next flight over Texas stop at McKinney! I’ll personally pick you up and take you to Hutchin’s BBQ (great spot). As retired law enforcement I’ll take good care of you so Christian doesn’t end up in handcuffs! Great trip as always roll safe out there!
