P4 - I 100% agree with your 2 major things with the P4, Pliers feeling like they're the wrong way up and not having a bit adapter, the first day I got the P4 and took it to work, low n behold I needed to change driver bits.
Ive owned a wave for 5 years now, and just bought a surge last night I was thinking about getting the Free p4 but it didn't have the shears which I use frequently.
I've carried that same Gerber for 4 + yrs and upgraded to the wave plus its been a week I love the wave but I'm been scared to fuck up the wave my Gerber I used for ever thing...
Watched some videos about Leatherman and Victorinox multitools. Just purchased Victorinox Handyman. Now I am looking for Surge. I am women- I want one tool for all my home repair needs. I do not want to purchase big toolbox if I am not a craftsman.
the P4 is the only one with QA and made in usa, not that i'm american, but there is a difference, they don't put the usa stamp on these days, sicne they make them in mexico on the other models
I haven't read, seen, nor heard anything that convinces me that the P4 is anything more than a fidget toy. Yeh, all the tools are outside accessible and one-handed, but if the tools are crap, what have you gained? The serrated blade is very good, but the rest of the tools are just jokes in search of a punchline. Oh,the P4 is also stupid expensive.
It's actually an American made tool. The ace,p4 and p2 are the only ones that can legally has USA on the plier heads. All other Leatherman pliers are made in Mexico and most other components are from overseas as well. The free series has a quality bump that can be felt. Much nicer than the wave or surge
To me I love leatherman they are top of the heap when it comes to multi tools. I have a few leatherman s myself my favors the charge series tti and the red one I carry the red one most. But the surge is the best overall for edc or just having it in your back pack
It may not be the best, strongest or cheapest multitool Leatherman has ever made, but I sure do love my Free P4
Im baffled why people think these arent strong. I dont know anyone thats ever broken one in any way
I love my P4. $25 I bought a magnet stainless insert that fits over the Phillips and accepts the flat and 1/4 inch bits.
I'd love to see it.. have a link for it?

the p4 misses a diamond file for me, and the t shank or bit adapter

I think handyman is great if in a pinch, but surge is more of real tool that you can use.
All my larger Leatherman Multi Tools broke on me in one way or another.
Except for my old Skeletool, that's my baby & best by far. 🤟
Skeletool is the best when it comes to taking weight into consideration
i've never seen victorinox broken pliers , but mexico made newer post 2017 leatherman has several on reddit

if the sog powerpint was made by victorinox, it would be the best tool ever made.
😂the reason is doesn’t open the way you want it to is b/c the tools take up the place where the pliers are stored and vise versa lol
His comment took me by surprise too.
Nice
