Great video. It's easy to get lost in the details, when a table with painted miniatures, no matter how easily, will always look better than one without!

Putting painter’s tape on either side of the cut on the plywood will reduce tearout.

Flip the jigsaw upside down and saw from the bottom side to reduce splintering on "the nice side".
