Hadn't seen this episode until today and found it of particular interest because I made some indicators for my wife's bike 40+ years ago - but a somewhat different approach - for many reasons. Rear indicators, one attached to each end of a 400mm long arm, so they were much further away from the bike's centreline than helmet mounted ones. A vertical axis pivot (base attached to rear pannier rack) halfway along the arm allowed the arm to be rotated 90deg. so that when not needed, the indicator assembly could be stowed along the bike's centreline. Arm was positioned in either of the two positions (operational / stowed) by a magnet based system - this provided some 'give' if the indicators were hit. Standard Cmos electronics powered by 6v Nicads (4Ah) L/R operation via individual push buttons near to relevant rubber handlebar grips. Audible pulsed tone provided feedback that the indicator was working, unless the bulb was blown (current sensed through bulb) - thus registering a fault. Different frequency tones L/R Operation sequence - eg 1st press R starts, 2nd press R stops If R already active, pressing L will cancel R and start L, press L to stop L. Present technology would allow for many improvements if I was making it today :)

They never paid him anything, plus the 90k was a rip off for 15% of a company making 400k pounds a year. “It’s November 2018 now and Peter and Deborah have since pulled out of the investment. At first, we were shell-shocked. Why did they pull out? All the due diligence was carried out with no issues. So, why the turnaround? There were two reasons it seems. Firstly the BrighterBike indicator was not going to be ready for sale by Nov 4th 2018 transmission date but we had explained this and the viable reasons why, and secondly, and we think the more fundamental reason; we were told the Dragons team had looked at the TrafficAngel equity share the Dragons had asked for in the Den and it was felt they had been given too good a deal out of TrafficAngel. Their £90,000 cash injection for 15% of the business undervalued the company and therefore it could be viewed that Peter and Deborah were taking advantage of an already established business in which they had also made nil contribution.”

my first thought is: bikes aren't big enough to require a light system, using arms is much more efficient because it increases the size of the area people are looking at. and using lights automatically assumes people have seen and acknowledged your intention, leading to making decisions with the thought that people know what you are doing, therefore putting yourself in potential danger

Jenny - amazing invention, wonderfully crafted, your business is well run and your profit margins are high. Inventor - we do like our margins Jenny - I only use butter and for that reason I'm out!
This doesn't seem like a good deal for the guy. His existing business is making £385K net profit. Typically a business is evaluated as something in the order of five years worth of profit (£1.0M). 15% of that is about £290K, so Deborah and Peter bought £290K worth of stuff for £90K. This is assuming that the bike light think is worthless and the existing business isn't going to expand on its own. I know that the dragons have something else besides their money to offer but this seems quite extreme.

Netherlands probably has more bicycles per capita than any other country in the world, and has no bicycle helmet laws. They understand that a helmet is a poor substitute for proper bike lanes. Most countries force bicycles into traffic and tell them to wear a helmet.
He got the 2 best dragons there in my opinion. Well done!!!!
It’s November 2018 now and Peter and Deborah have since pulled out of the investment. Their £90,000 cash injection for 15% of the business undervalued the company and therefore it could be viewed that Peter and Deborah were taking advantage of an already established business in which they had also made nil contribution.
Deborah: "you have a good nose"

LOLOLOL xD
Jenny - amazing invention, wonderfully crafted, your business is well run and your profit margins are high.
Inventor - we do like our margins
Jenny - I only use butter and for that reason I'm out!
Seemed that indicators on helmet were too close for safety great technology could be applied elsewhere.
LIVALL cycle helmets do it and have attachment for handlebars... 👀
This inventions been out since the 90’s. For some reason I was obsessed with it looking at in the Argos catalogue when I was younger.
5:37 I beg to differ...
Haych Haych there’s an unexpected item in the pitching area; I’m out.
Jenny literally just comes for the free water
I’ve never been so happy for a pitcher! I love this
i notice Jenny still taking note wen shes already declared herself out maybe she want to be in so she get out....Jenout
So pleased for this nice chap.
