These Disturbing and Terrifying Episode of the Television Series I like to think of as the Most Horrific Halloween Episodes I can think of. Halloween Episodes like: 1. *Sleepless in Retroville* from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius 2. *Jack and the Haunted House* from Samurai Jack 3. *Haunted Train* from Hey Arnold! 4. *The Boogieman Cometh* from The Real Ghostbusters 5. *Fear Itself* from Teen Titans 6. *Filet of Soul* from Dexter's Laboratory 7. *The Puppetmaster* from Avatar: The Last Airbender These are the Most Terrifying, Scariest, Creepiest and Gruesome Episodes I Can Think Of, as Halloween Episodes of our Childhood TV Shows. Super Disturbing and Creepy.
There is another episode of Hey Arnold where he dreams he's old man and still is upset with his friend Gerald in a bus only to see a creepy version of his grandpa where his jaw falls!!! And another from Steven is where a mascot in shape of french fries starts making scarry sounds!!!
Growling up, the “Haunted” episode of Teen Titans was the first fictional depiction of PTSD I saw. With what I know now, I can say no other show I’ve seen has depicted it so realistically and so hard hitting. Teen Titans truly was ahead of its time.
That episode was also the closet Robin ever came to dying for real. He even begged the thing he thought was Slade to stop beating him and killing him. Robin rarely ever does that. That was some heavy shit right there!
17:36 For me, the most disturbing Teen Titans episode was 'Spellbound' as it focused on Raven's relationship with Malichor being a depiction of emotional abuse, being made to feel isolated by your partner, gaslighting and being used, whilst Raven deals with feelings of loneliness and exclusion thus making her emotionally vulnerable.
@Sam Cook Yeah, I think that episode was a low key allegory to S.Assault and s-ual predators. Especially when you watch the way he he touched her and ripped her clothes off.
I felt so sorry for Raven 😞 I've been through what she did, being set up by someone who claimed to "love me", only for them to harm me in the most terrible ways. If she were a real girl, I'd want to give her a hug. 😞
There were some dark kids cartoon episodes that felt like extended PSA’s, like Tiny Toon Adventures: “One Beer” which shows the terrible effects of alcohol, and Gargoyles: “Deadly Force” which demonstrates the importance of gun safety similar to The Simpsons: “The Cartridge Family”.
I like that Rugrats presented Angelica's fears and anxieties. It showed that fears are valid and I think what a lot of kids go through when they get that news
They wanted to but if I remember right cartoon network thought the name was too dark to have on air for kids so they made it Slade instead. That way people who KNOW, know it's Deathstroke but Slade is his actual name so they could get away with it
@nicolea2839 I mean hey, because they couldn't have Joker outright kill people in the original Batman: The Animated Series they created the Joker Gas which gave us those nightmare inducing grins! 🤣
Honorable Mention: *Hollow Mind - The Owl House -Granted, there are multiple episodes that could've made the list. However, Hollow Mind is considered the darkest episode in the series. It's a dive into Emporer Belos' mind. Luz and Hunter were never the same after this episode.
Y’all forgot that episode of Back at the Barnyard where the animals build a party shack on top of a pet cemetery. The show may have primarily been whacky slapstick, but that episode haunted me as a child for a LONG time
They ignored that one detail in Tom and Jerry’s “Heavenly Puss” where what seemed a sack has 3 kittens inside all wet, possibly implying that those kittens died being put in the sack and thrown into a river or the sea.
I still think Speed Demon is the most disturbing episode of the Powerpuff Girls. That or Knock it Off especially how nightmare fuel inducing those fake PPGs are and Dick himself came VERY CLOSE to killing the girls. Plus he is one of few notable villains to actually die on screen
After rewatching PPG on Hulu, I was honestly disturbed by "Cooties" as well...How they showcased that kid and all that nasty detail (like his slobber and even his sounds - UGH I'm gagging thinking of it!) was so creepy and while I didn't mind as a kid, as a freaking adult...I was ready to skip, LOL! But I was gonna watch every ep available, and I survived.
No honorable mentions like I Was a Teenage Gary (Spongebob), The Eternal Warriors (Hilda), Shadow of a Bat (Batman: The Brave and The Bold), Hollow Mind (The Owl House), The Art Gallery Car (Infinity Train), El Sibon (Victor and Valentino), & Parasitica (or Invasion of the Squirrelanoids) from 2012 TMNT
God I loved the OG teen titans series and I remember that episode to this day. The whole villain behind it all had a tragic and terrifying backstory to it all as well on why he started it all. But that scene and how it actually they made it look like Robin went crazy and killed a man was just crazyyy
that was a good show Also, please don't take the Lord's name in vain On that note, we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested
The scariest thing I watched was the season of TMNT 2012 with monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein. I had Nightmares because of this season. And because of this one episode of rabbids invasion in which the scientist rabbid turns into a fly monster.
Courage the Cowardly Dog in my opinion was the darkest kids cartoon. To me the most darkest episode was when Muriel and Eustace turn into puppets and Courage literally plays with their dead bodies. And to make it more disturbing it was originally the finale to the series. Now imagine that didn't occur 😱😱
There’s an episode of hey Arnold where Arnold and Gerald are fighting and Arnold has a dream where they’re still fighting in old age where a zombie version of his grandpa shows up and his jaw falls off
_The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius_ is the only Nickelodeon cartoon to have Corey Burton. "Sleepless in Retroville" was one of the episodes he voiced in.
I’m honestly surprised that a Courage episode wasn’t #1, but #2 is acceptable. Although, I have to give it to the actual #1. That was a TRUE HORROR MOVIE in a kids show…..
Most Kids cartoons have always had elements that children of all ages can enjoy, be It relatable characters adult jokes or maybe the stories are just appealing to adults and children disturbing moments.
I don’t understand at all about in the jimmy neutron entry it was about nightmare pizza when there was an episode where all the kids became brainwashed by a tv program known as grandma Jenkins or something it baffles me
I'm surprised Ren & Stimpy didn't make the list that show had a ton of Disturbing Moments for a Kids show. Including an episode when Ren said "Excuse me I'm gonna go end it all".
Looking back at the moment at 16:30, Tom and Jerry have survived being crushed by many large heavy objects, as such, a piano realistically wouldn't have killed, or perhaps even phased Tom.
Five of the darkest and scarying episodes that freaked me the "F**k" out of me from other cartoon shows are also: Last Laugh, Season 1 - Ben 10 Classic (Appearence of Zombozo) Ghostfreaked Out, Season 2- Ben 10 Classic (Zs'Skayr Debut) Hook Line And Screamer, Season 1 - Total Drama Island (The Killer with the chainsaw and a hook) Birthmark, Season 4- Teen Titans (Slade pursuing Raven) The End part 1-3 finale, Season 4- Teen Titans (Trigon destroying the world on fire and fighting the Titans)
I’m almost 30 years old and the Magic School Bus haunted house episode still gives me nightmares. That creepy noise haunted all of us when we heard it, and even after finding out it was coming from a pipe organ, it still gave us shivers
Man teen titans that's show consistently went to dark places. At one point starfire was almost married off against her will and then robin was forced to date a villians daughter. Raven is constantly fighting her father demon in her mind. Shit goes hard
Any of the episodes from the 2012 TMNT cartoon series featuring the Rat King deserved to be mentioned on this list, especially considering how creepy-looking that particular version of the character was with his all-black outfit and hideously disfigured appearance with glowing red eyes as well as the way he torments Splinter while controlling his mind.
THE FUCKING DEXTER FISH EPISODE TRAUMATIZED ME FOR WEEKS as a little kid. Legitimately had nightmares. I never forgot how haunting DeeDee's voice sounded, or about "The Sewer Beyond" (sorta like a way stinkier Rainbow Bridge kinda thing), and I was in tears every moment either because I was sad or i was scared to DEATH.
The Adventures of Mark Twain Claymation ( Mysterious Stranger episode ,) about Satan is quite a bit scarier and more unsettling than any of these. Also I Love the Real ghostbusters and the Boogieman is a worthy inclusion but The Grundel and the Demon WAT from the episode Mrs. Rodgers neighborhood were both scarier.
This one episode from the penguins of Madagascar where the lemurs ate bad fruits and became insane because of it, because of that episode I refused to eat this fruit years later
The one that scarred me was a show called ‘Round the twist’, although Australian, it was shown in the UK as well. There was an episode called ‘big burp’ and honestly I was never the same. A main boy character falls in love with some tree woman, he becomes pregnant and has to burp up the baby to give birth to it. He does so then burps after and says ‘haha… after-burp’ like bruh WHAT 😂
Here's some dark and disturbing episodes of kids cartoons that I can think of that wasn't on this list! *K'nuckles and His Hilarious Problem(The Marvelous Misadventures Of Flapjack) *Hollow Mind or Thanks To Them(The Owl House) *The Return Of Raggedy Android(MLAATR) *Dark Harvest(Invader Zim) *Olivia and Yunan(Amphibia) *A Man Called Krinkle(SRMTHFG) *The Terror Tales Of The Park Specials(Regular Show) *Weirdmageddon(Gravity Falls)
Something i realized later on in life from tumblr is that Hama is almost 90% sure the reason Katara and Sokka's mother is dead. In the flasback the Raiders talk about 1 waterbender and how they went from capturing waterbenders to killing them implies its because of how Hama escape. Shit is messed up
I don’t understand what’s so scary in the dream from Courage the cowardly dog. Yes it looks unnatural pretty ugly, but what I get from it is- this not perfect creature, telling courage it’s okay he’s not perfect.
The Boogeyman and Angelica's "dream" brother were scary for how they looked. The lips alone were disgusting enough, but adding that disgust on top of the level of dread those episodes had? Easy way to make even the toughest person look away. Steven Universe's only only scary thing is that the art style was greenlit. Courage had such amazing episodes, and the jarring early CGI added so much to the visuals. That violin girl was far more disturbing though, even if she was a short scene instead of a whole dark episode. Dark Harvest was easily 10/10. Dib totally deserved having his lungs replaced with the cow noise maker. Shouldn't have bullied the new kid, Dib.
I don’t watch any of those cartoons on this list, but that Hey Arnold ghost train episode made me entertained. I love Helga’s reaction when they thought the ghost train was real. And I can imagine if the Ghostbusters were to catch a ghost train.
What about the adventure time episodes where all of the princess's had their body part severed and ice king stitched their body part together and made it into a twisted, mess up, horror graphic, design, creation😮

Despite the shows being extremely fun and Courage being a lovable character, the Dark colors and lonely farmhouse always came off as creepy.
Yea that was the point
This show was altogether creepy and surreal. They probably could have picked several episodes of Courage to put on this list.

😂😂😂😂 these are awesome. I love half of these shows especially this episode of dexter
Mystery incorporated
Most episodes
Evil scooby yikes
Gator people double yikes
The Headless horror HOLY JESUS CHRIST WTF IS THAT!!!!
What about the adventure time episodes where all of the princess's had their body part severed and ice king stitched their body part together and made it into a twisted, mess up, horror graphic, design, creation😮
I didn't like the fact on how The Lich killed Billy somehow
