"Why Charlie Brown Why" was a dark one for me. While Charlie gets picked on constantly, it was still a lighthearted series with cute characters, until Linus's new friend is diagnosed with Leukemia. As heartbreaking as it was, it was a necessary cartoon for kids to watch when learning how to deal with sick friends and family matters.
Anime America: Know what I just realized? It's ironic how cancer is the topic of one of the episodes, when one of the theories of Charlie being so miserable is that he's actually dying of cancer and his terrible life is a metaphor for his sadness.
What I really like about these episodes is that they are not trying to just be dark and have no message because it’s just for kids. These episodes have real messages and life lessons. I really like every episode on this list. Edit: I would’ve also added Spongebob in the Endless Summer on the list as well.
RandomKidGaming I could've replaced the dirty patty episode because they totally twists the truth with what happened. Firstly they thought that it was a fake health inspector and wanted to get back at him for ripping them off. And secondly he didn't actually eat the patty, he swallowed a fly. There is no way that they misunderstood they had to have been stretching the truth to make the episode feel more dark!
I would’ve added episode 5 of Tugs into it, Munitions. Because there’s a character death, another character basically getting PTSD, lots of explosion, and the whole concept of a munition fire spreading around the dockside. That and the navy. What kids show these days has the navy in it?
One of the darkest episodes was this episode of Static Shock where a kid was bullied mercilessly and ends up stealing his dad's gun to kill his bullies. He's stopped just in time by Static, but one person was injured. Static Shock was a pretty dark for a superhero show, discussing things like gang violence, riots, teenage runaways, loved ones passing away, and a ton of other stuff, but something about that episode where the antagonist was a normal person rather than a super villain freaked me out as a kid
I have to mention something in the episode have you seen the episode d stabilize That episode gets incredibly dark in my opinion that's also one of my favorites you should try watching it sometime Trust me you or go crying to tears after this
There was actually an episode in MLP where a character is dealing with his divorced parents and he has to choose which one to live with. They never SAY his parents are divorced. But their Hippocampi and one lives in the water and the other on land. It’s a pretty sweet episode that touches on divorce in a very light way.
Starsha Romiz I think it was because both of them wanted to live in a different place and couldn’t agree on it. But they did later meet in the episode and they seemed happy to see each other. Meaning either it ended on good terms or the creators wanted to keep it lighthearted
Pokémon actually touched on PTSD during the Alola series. Lilie was attacked by a Pokémon as a child and afterwards was too afraid to even touch Pokémon, and when I described her character arc to my mom, who’s a therapist, she agreed that it could be PTSD
@@gingerkays7362 Ya know, now that I think about it, I think Karu from Ai Yori Aoshi also suffered from PTSD. No really, think about it. His mother died, he was adopted into the Hanabishi household, his Grandfather burned all photos of his mother and called her a Hussie, right in front of Karu, and even whipped him repeatedly with a kendo stick! Seriously, it's no wonder Karu refused to return to the Hanabishi household with a family like that. As for Chimchar, I can definitely see where you're coming from. However, I was referring to that one boy character whose name I forget from the Deoxys movie. Since it's mentioned around the beginning of the movie, that he's scared of Pokemon, just like Lilie.
@@gingerkays7362 I have c-ptsd myself and the two characters who may have ptsd are incredibly sad but heartwarming. I love when writers put in a character dealing with something really difficult but relatable and show them be happy, healthy and loved through that :)
@@gingerkays7362 Chimchar’s whole arc was kind of sad. Being captured as a source of power and treated as a tool. Then when Paul couldn’t channel his power he abandoned him. I remember an episode of chimchar crying and getting very emotional from ashes kindness, as he was never used to it from Paul’s cruelty. So far I’ve only watched the first 22 seasons of Pokémon, but maybe I can brush up on the Galar series in the future
"my little pony isnt dark" remember that time twilight worried about being late for a letter to celestia and went full on insane? and then she sent the whole town into chaos with mind control?
Or when the red goat guy used a B U B B L E to kidnap the horses and the Dragon neck guy with multiple animal parts was a slave to him and then he got kidnapped in a B U B B L E as well.
Okay, lemme get this straight... My Little Pony... A show meant to teach young girls ages 5-12 friendship... Had an episode about *FORCEFUL CONDITIONING AND GOVERNMENT MONITERING...* Without giving the "girls rule the world" shtick. *What is this sorcery?*
Mlp isnt all about "girls rule the world" I have watched a few episodes because my little cousin insisted I watch some and that episode left me and my little cousin shook and I littraly though "I should tell her what that eisode ment"
Who else thought when they said MLP they were gonna talk about "Do Princesses Dream Of Magic Sheep?" The idea of Princess Luna creating a MONSTER just to remind her of her past mistakes was... unexpecting.
Actually, according to the Jim Henson wiki, The dinosaurs episode was not meant to be the last. It was supposed to be just a one time event, and everything was better the next episode. But, due to low ratings, the last episodes never aired, leaving this to be the creepy finale we got to this show.
@@phantomstrider exept blue cat blues all i can get is he killed himself over a break up i dont think anyone would actully kill self like that if u could anyone could explain that i,ll. Be greatfull
Fresh2000 It's just sad that not many shows do that anymore. Parents are VERY overprotective now and any little thing in a show can trigger them. I can understand if parents don't want sexual innuendos in their kid's shows, but when it comes to real life situations, kids need to know. If a kid learns about some of the more dark things in life, they can learn earlier on how to deal with it (with the help of their parents of course) I just hope there are some shows out there still teaching kids valuable lessons.
Honestly, I think show writers should occasionally talk about dark subject matter. It shows children that the world isn't always happy and fun, and that bad things do happen.
Very true which is why it irritates the hell out of me when people are like, "but we must protect children from bad things!" I read an article in the paper recently about dark children's books that the paper's journalists enjoyed. This was done because of apparent rules curtailing what kind of books are acceptable for primary schools such as: no death, no witches, no demons, no ghosts, etc. Such limits curtail freedom, imagination and creativity and doesn't give a child the chance to learn about other things and as I've always been a keen reader, this annoys me.
Agreed. Sterilize a child's perception of the world too much and he ends up just as warped as a child who's been shown nothing but darkness. The whole Social Justice Warrior mentality is evidence of that. The second they see some kind of negativity, they don't know how to cope and just lose their minds.
I think it depends on the context. If it's something like this where there is purpose to the darkness then it *should* be there and be respected. But if it's like mindless savagery for mindless savagery's sake, especially from the protagonists or whatever that *can* have a negative impact on their developing minds. Same can be said for innocence. There should be times of happiness in shows, but it shouldn't be dull and brainless like Fanboy and Chum-Chum *Vomits just from thinking about that garbage pile* As with everything in life there has to be a balance.
Jurassic King I feel that you are right about that. But if they are going to use dark themes a means to teach and respekt they should not it to far however.
Fun fact: Mr. Rogers' car once got stolen, but the day it got stolen, it got returned, with a note saying "If we knew it was yours, we wouldn't have taken it."
That was more for an older audience, but yeah, I can't imagine how difficult it is to be in a scenario where you're designed to lose. Or as Batman put it; "Every time you achieved a victory, the scenario was designed to get much worse". But wholly shit, when you see Miss Martian get killed by her own uncle, the shock on her face is haunting.
Yoooo, the 9/11 episode for Elmo was actually my favorite as a kid, of course, I didn’t know about the 9/11 part, and I would always randomly say “Firefighter Bill”
Same, we always had it on VHS tape when i was little. That is how i normally watched a lot of my kids shows. On VHS. We had TVand everything, like PBS kids and all that, but i just enjoyed VHS for some reason.
There was one episode of Spongebob Squarepants that I remember some time ago that was too dark for my liking. I believe it was called “One Coarse Meal.” It was an episode in which Mr. Krabs discovers Plankton’s fear of whales (which is bad writing because I could’ve sworn that in some episodes Plankton was around Pearl, and he never succumbs to that fear, but idk). Mr. Krabs, throughout the entirety of this episode, abuses Plankton’s fear by dressing up as Pearl out of *pure enjoyment* , and this drove Plankton insane, to the point that the episode gave the implication that Plankton is contemplating suicide: And because the show is all “good versus evil”, Mr. Krab’s defeats plankton, and got off Scott-free from punishment. Heck, even Spongebob betrays plankton by doing this. I get how Plankton certainly has his fair share of wicked schemes, but Plankton is not even remotely close to doing something so sinister and sadistic as Mr. Krabs in this episode (except for the first Spongebob movie, where he becomes world dictator). Using one's fears against them out of sheer pleasure and torture was a concept that frightens and disgusts me. That is psychological abuse. Just the mere thought of watching that episode sends shivers down my spine, and I hope that that episode stays buried within the sands of time.
One episode I was surprised never got even mentioned was The Puppet Master from Avatar: The Last Airbender. The idea of a waterbender controlling people through the water in their blood is strongly disturbing. It could've been even creepier when you realize how much water the human brain is comprised of and the mental scarring something like that could cause.
Fun Fact: I just finished watching that episode on Nickelodeon this evening. And it's still just as creepy as I remember it. Especially Katara breaking into tears at the end of the episode.
What’s even creepier is that using this logic, if someone was to get a cut in battle, a blood bender could theoretically bend all the blood out of their body and essentially drain them like a vampire. It’s a kid show and things like deep cuts which reveal blood isn’t seen much, but if it was that could be deadly. A blood bender with swords on the night of a full moon. One cut, no matter how shallow and they can slowly bend all blood out of you.
Рік тому
@@daforkgaming3320and airbenders could theoretically choke you to death from a distance by bending the air out of your lungs.
One of the darkest episodes I've seen is Steven Universe's "Bismuth." Discussion of genocide, it's pretty violent, and it shows a blood knight on the side of the Crystal Gems. It's also one of the most morally complex episodes.
That's may how YOU see it, but I doubt that's how many others, including the creators. It may be for "older people", but that doesn't necessarily mean "for teens."
Man, I have a few signs of depression (Not confirmed, but still likely), and your videos put such a warm smile on my face. The fact that people acknoledge it just warms my heart. Although their will probably never be any instant cure for depression, or any efforts to, like a vaccine, if people can acknoledge it and respect what it truly is, then I am happy. Thatn you, PhantomStrider. Keep doing what you do.
Thank you, Nathaniel. Comments like yours are the most rewarding part of what I do. It means the world to me to know I might bring a little calm or warmth to another person's day. You look after.
I think tough love’s message is well the name of the episode, some times people you love can be toxic, and even if it hurts you still have to do something about it...
mega awesome rainbow explosion Even as a kid when I first saw this episode on air, it used to make me feel so uncomfortable because I liked the supporting character but the way Him brainwashed them, just makes it all unsettling. I wanted to either turn the tv off or changed the channel but I couldn't because I wanted to see what happened next.
Or get an Exorcist. Mainly because the scene where the dad revealed his possessed face traumatized me when I was 6. It's pretty much the reason my teenage sister was protective of me back then
I understand how Elmo feels. While I didn't witness something as traumatic, I did get scared. In February of last year, I was physically assaulted outside of a Publix. To this day, going in and out of a Publix still scares me, especially at the Publix where the attack happened.....
What about the episode called ‘Pingu’s Dream’? Pingu. A show made for 4 - 8 year olds got an episode banned for having content that was unsuitable for kids? If you see the episode for yourself you’ll know what I mean.
Sonic Gamer I don’t remember what happened much that day. I think I was taken from school but.....nope. I got nothing. I didn’t know it was a thing either
Sonic Gamer I was roughly 8 years old when it happened and I was watching The Price is Right with my grandma and then all of a sudden it was cut off by a BREAKING NEWS alert. At first, I was irritated and could care less but when I eventually saw what happened and read about it, I was shocked. It's still to this day one of the most tragic days in the entire history of the United States.
Howdy! Was planning Weirdest/Best Gumball Episodes as a side-project next. If you have any suggestions for particularly weird / favourite Gumball episodes or other list ideas, feel free to post them here. Thanks for dropping in :)
Yes, but Season 7 of the show was so weird in a highly uncomfortable (by simply being so out-of-character) way. With Nickelodeon's death wish towards the show's original (I mean as in both the first and most capable of coming up with new ideas) creator Stephen Hillenburg, the rest of the franchise might as well massively drop in quality and overstay its welcome EVEN MORE than it already did with Kamp Koral.
Allow me to suggest another episode: April 9th from Arthur. It was a lot like the 9/11 Sesame Street episode in discussing traumatic events and how they affect each individual. The episode was also made in response to 9/11 in 2002. What happens is a fire erupts in Arthur's school much like the shop in Sesame Street, but the outcome was even more scary than Sesame Street. One of the characters (Sue Ellen) loses her backpack and diary in the fire and has to cope with that loss while Arthur himself is scarred by his dad receiving minor injuries from smoke inhalation and begins to fear for him all the time. Binky sees part of the fire and is traumatized from that alone and begins having PTSD. The episode even discusses Buster, who was not at school that day and missed the fire, becoming somewhat jealous for missing out. It was quite a scary episode as a kid and I remember being quite freaked out by it. But it was handled very well and is arguably one of the best episodes in the entire series. I recommend watching Mr. Enter's admirable animation on it for anyone who's interested. :)
I have a dark theory about Spongebob and the krabby patty formula What if the reason Mr.Crabs is the only crab in town is because he killed all of the other crabs and ground them up then used the ground crab as the secret ingredient for the Krabby pattys it explains the name
@@Emerald1 I understand that That's what got to me I k ow it was just a fly but it was the way they went about it and how it was portrayed that got to me
What about the Arthur episode ""The Great MacGrady" where Mrs. MacGrady is diagnosed with cancer. I feel like that should at least be in the honourable mentions.
@Bring Back the Angry Birds Stella Series But it is a show made for kids, BY adults. So sometimes it can be a little dark for kids. The same way sometimes cartoon producers slip some adult jokes in kids shows
@Bring Back the Angry Birds Stella Series I repect you, fellow Startrix shipper, but yeah agree with you, saying that Mlp is "dark" and "gritty" is wrong, the show just tackles sometimes serious subjects while still being about pony's that's it
I feel the episode of powerpuff girls was about child abuse. Like explaining that you getting hurt by others is a terrible thing, and you can fight back. That's my opinion at least.
When I was 6 I saw an episode of the fairly odd parents where Timmy wished everything in his moms garden was alive and all his dead pets came back to life. The gerbil really freaked me out back then especially since my pet guinea pig had died earlier that year.
You mean a gerble? Yeah, we see poor Timmy gets nearly killed by a vicious gerble. I don't see anything about a kid gets nearly killed in a cartoonish ways. No cartoonist like Hartman could ever portrayed child abuse in a kid show. Right?
topics that should appear more in kids shows: -trans folk -ptsd when it isn’t about war -phobias -adhd (not bart simpson, thats bad representation at its finest) - learning skills (math, reading, science, etc) are not things you can control

is nobody going to talk about that one episode of spongebob "the drain"? it was an episode with three mini episodes in one. It talks about how there is a drain for the ocean and spongebob or patrick end up pulling it ending all life in the ocean
I don't know what's more disturbing. Spongebob and Mr. Krabs trying to hide a dead body, or the fact that when I was a kid, I thought that episode was hilarious.
So Squidward: -Started crying in the middle of public -Can't seem to cheer up even when someone tries to help -Isolated himself from everyone -Stopped grooming himself -Stopped keeping his house clean -Curls up in a blanket and doesn't leave his bed God that hits way to damn close to home.
Well, spongebob didn’t poison the health inspector. A fly just flew into his throat. And even if he did eat the patty, he would still be fine. The mayor in season 9 ate a gross krabs patty, and he loved it. So you kinda exaggerated a bit.
Heck I would always pick Weirdmageddon finale from Gravity Falls. The concept is horrifying, from Ford and Stan being just stunned and horrified for the kids, their friends being turned to banners, Bill is about a millisecond away from killing Mabel, and just the plain hard truth that summer ends and Dipper and Mabel leave Gravity Falls.
I was so sure that Bill was gonna kill Mabel, and this kinda upset me because she was my favorite character, and she still kinda is. Even though Gravity Falls is over, I will forever remember the episodes and the air of mystery each one brought me. Alex Hirsch is a genius for creating a show that, surprisingly, was able to keep me entertained for a long period of time, and leaving me wanting more after each episode. I don't think I've ever been so invested in a show before!
The Stan and Ford bit where Stan lost his memory choked me up. When Ford said “You’re our hero, Stanley” it felt pure and raw from Simmons’ heart. And it almost feels like someone’s reaction to the death of their sibling. In a way, that is sort of what happened.
Most likely The Simpsons. In an episode called Black Widower Bart and Homer was watching The Dinosaurs and Bart said, "It's like they saw our lives and put it right up on TV."
I have a theory on "Tough Love". Maybe it was shown in a spoiled kid's point of view and what they see when they don't get their way. They see their parents the people who took care of them as evil people. I think that's actually why my little sister says that " Mommy won't give me this she doesn't love me!". It's honestly annoying whenever she does that. Also I got this theory when you said "ungrateful" it just rang so many bells in my head. When the creator of sesame street died I'm not gonna lie I cried.

The difference between “Are You Happy Now?” And “Blue Cat Blues” suicide jokes is that... the former is actually a joke. Squidward sticks his head in the oven, but then pulls out cookies. He ties a rope, but pulls up a birdcage. The joke in Blue Cat Blues, is that Tom and Jerry are so sad they’re going to kill themselves. Suicide is the punchline. After Squidward pulls up a birdcage, you feel silly for thinking he’d kill himself, thusly, a pretty funny gag. Hell, there are a few other examples of that kind of offbeat, offensive humor in 60’s media other than Blue Cat Blues. One of the first jokes in Singin’ in the Rain, the best musical ever produced, is a young woman claiming that she’ll kill herself due to Leena Lamont’s stunning beauty. Of course, this is because of a lack of understanding of mental illness at the time. As someone who suffers from depression and suicidal thoughts, I totally advocate the use of depressive/suicidal jokes, but do it right!
Precisely. Spot on with why I believe those 2 jokes work as well, despite the extremely dark subject matter. A child also would not interpret either as suicide. They would just assume Squidward looked carefully for his brownies and was pulling a cage up. I can understand some people being sensitive to these two jokes, but I actually think they're okay.
@@Sillygooberwhopostsstuff I still like them too. In fact I made up my own Powerpuff Girl characters and villains and made stories and drawing out of them.
I think Tough Love was "even your loved ones can be harmful" especially considering that we do have people in harmful relationships and can't leave because they think Love will make the abuser come around. And it's an endless cycle. That's what I got out of it, at least
Having depression myself, I believe kids shows should discuss important topics more often, such as a kid whose friend has depression, or problems at home, then they will be able to discuss how a Child might be able to comfort their friend.
I feel terrible that poor Elmo was gripped in fear after that fire, that little guy may be a muppet star, but he is still a little guy. Jim Henson and his accomplices really manage to explain this stuff the right way

How Blue Cat Blues should've ended: Jerry joins Tom on the train tracks, having felt the same pain that Tom has. Then, they realize that they don't need any stuck-up women, because they have each other as friends. At this point they then step off the tracks and watch the train pass by, as their friendship is rekindled and bigger than ever. The End. An MGM Tom and Jerry cartoon. Made in Hollywood, USA.
Pretty surprised that nothing from the Classic Era of the Thomas television series is on this list; there’s some really messed up stuff from there, like when Henry got bricked up in a tunnel as punishment, for instance.
The episode where they rescued Oliver and Toad and later Stepney from scrap were a little darker because of the threat of death, and then there's the episode that's about the engines collaborating together because they think the Fat Controller is sending the Scottish Twins away to be scrapped. Obviously they're not eligible for Strider's lists, but the Railway Series books get darker still. S.C.Ruffy dies in the book, Gordon finds out his "Doncaster brothers and sisters" are being scrapped (which entails being melted down and recycled), and another character falls off a cliff and is broken beyond repair.
Callum Sparrow The kids that are afraid of Thomas couldn't be absent -_-, Do you even realise that they did let Henry out of the tunnel on the next episode?

Every communist society has had heavy state ownership and control to some degree. How is that a good thing? Socialist elements here and there absolutely, but not full on communism.
Frankly, I think it's actually good for tv shows aimed at children to at least get a bit dark at times, let's face it, the world is not sunshine lolliops and is actually a pretty scary place when you think about it. Besides, it's hard to argue that a story that has no conflict and is just everyone being happy would be pretty boring.
Yes, darkness always going along with our lives. Dosmetic abuse, drug addiction, depression, fear, death, racism, loss of love ones, war, or anything else that kids have no words to deal with them. Yeah, that's what dark things takes turns with light subject life.
All right, I have a theory on Blue Cat Blues. Tom and Jerry didn't die, because well, they are cartoon characters. The last episode is actually an episode where Tom is trying to take care of a baby. Also, Jerry is too small to be hit on a train, he is like an inch or something.
Tom: Are we gonna die yet, Jerry? Jerry: I hope so. *ran over like a train* Tom: DO'H! WHY AM I NOT DED?! Jerry: Me too. Let's get outta here. Conductor: I accidently killed them. *cries* Whhhyy!!!?
I love both you guys! This was a great list! I love dark and creepy. However, some of these episodes had really deep meaning, and like you said, I really do think some of these episodes are important for kids to see and learn. Other episodes on this list are just really dark and unbelievable. I enjoyed every entry though.
I'd like to see a Sesame Street episode where they tackle the subject of animal abuse. Someone adopts a fearful Doberman from a local animal shelter. The new owner explains how his previous owner was very mean to him. So they help socialize the dog then it ends becoming very sweet and loving. Over the episode they teach how animals have feelings too even they can't talk.
That is actually the first time I hear that about explaining uncomfortable but important messages to kids when they go online even younger... because parents leave them more and more over the net's faith.
Anime America That was a good one !
*HOLY CRAP IT'S ANIME AMERICA!* Love the vids.
Anime America: Know what I just realized? It's ironic how cancer is the topic of one of the episodes, when one of the theories of Charlie being so miserable is that he's actually dying of cancer and his terrible life is a metaphor for his sadness.
Anime America That was an awesome episode.
It's dark because I knew a seventh grader in my school who was diagnosed with leukemia.

They kind of did that in the Deoxys movie as well.
@@nine_tails137 I also described Chimchar’s character journey to my mom, and she agreed that he too showed signs of PTSD

Fresh2000
It's just sad that not many shows do that anymore. Parents are VERY overprotective now and any little thing in a show can trigger them. I can understand if parents don't want sexual innuendos in their kid's shows, but when it comes to real life situations, kids need to know. If a kid learns about some of the more dark things in life, they can learn earlier on how to deal with it (with the help of their parents of course)
I just hope there are some shows out there still teaching kids valuable lessons.

1Thunderfire SCRUB A DOOFUS!!!
There should be times of happiness in shows, but it shouldn't be dull and brainless like Fanboy and Chum-Chum *Vomits just from thinking about that garbage pile*
As with everything in life there has to be a balance.
Jurassic King I feel that you are right about that. But if they are going to use dark themes a means to teach and respekt they should not it to far however.

how bout the young justice episode when everyone literally dies in a mental simulation and the next episode has each of the characters go to therapy?
I think that counts as more of a teens show.
Yeah that songbob episode went too far

I have genuine childhood trauma from that episode.

Naaah spongebob squarepants was always wierd

Yes, but Season 7 of the show was so weird in a highly uncomfortable (by simply being so out-of-character) way. With Nickelodeon's death wish towards the show's original (I mean as in both the first and most capable of coming up with new ideas) creator Stephen Hillenburg, the rest of the franchise might as well massively drop in quality and overstay its welcome EVEN MORE than it already did with Kamp Koral.
You spelled WEIRD wrong
Yes, I have a fire drill last year. It's still lit that my mother was pregnant the day 9/11 incident happened. What my luck is always bad?!
But your recommendation would require watching Mr. Enter so nah.

I don't know what's more disturbing. Spongebob and Mr. Krabs trying to hide a dead body, or the fact that when I was a kid, I thought that episode was hilarious.
Sushininja10 eh, not really disturbing for a kid to think it’s hilarious. kids don’t really understand death when they’re little.
I found it hilarious too.

-Stopped keeping his house clean
-Curls up in a blanket and doesn't leave his bed
God that hits way to damn close to home.

Weirdmageddon’s bill was lowkey horrifying, especially the end
The Stan and Ford bit where Stan lost his memory choked me up. When Ford said “You’re our hero, Stanley” it felt pure and raw from Simmons’ heart. And it almost feels like someone’s reaction to the death of their sibling. In a way, that is sort of what happened.
Nah, Gravity Falls was always horrifically scary.

Singing in the Rain, the best musical of all time? No way!
Finally! Someone explains what makes a suicide joke work and what doesn't! You hit the nail on the head. :)
I love ppg :)

How Blue Cat Blues should've ended:
Jerry joins Tom on the train tracks, having felt the same pain that Tom has.

DalekTheSupreme At least in the Railway Series they dont put Stepney from scrap
But I think he deserved it, don't you?
Nope, he didn't deserved to be bricked up, they atleast did let him out on the next episode.

Sad that new Mr. Rogers show is still crap. Even I have'nt grew up with Mr. Rogers before. I only grew up with Dora, Barney, Sesame Streets, Blues Clues, etc.

Me too. He's so kind and calm
Thanks Han Cru and MissConstruct :) I try my best.
I respect your opinions but I definitely believe Speed Demon, and The Mask from Courage the Cowardly dog should've had a place on the list
MissConstruct the one with the moon spirit that was a giant floating head scared me the most
MissConstruct *cough cough* Freaky Fred *cough cough*
Salt Shaker I wasn't really afraid of courage the cowardly dog back then but I had a weird fear of live action stuff in cartoons
Meme lord What about BloodBender from Avatar the Last Airbender? That was scary and talked about concentration camps? I know TLAB is not really a kids show, but I watched it when I was like 4 or 5.
Joseph Welch to be honest I wasn't a huge fan about the last air bender I know it's a good show but I never watched it or got into it so I don't know but I did hear about prison camps in that
A dark episode (for its show) is Rusty to the rescue in season 4 of Thomas the tank engine and friends because in the episode Rusty the diesel goes to a scrap yard and you see the affects of modernization and you can see a bunch of scrap steam engines and he has to save an engine named Stephanie from scrap. Yes you do see scraped engines in the show but this is the first episode where you see a lot of scraped engines and it is mentioned
I remember that episode, It was actually related to the Nazis and Holocaust
I saw it in the new version of season 4 and I still get spooked 😱 by it even if I am 8 years old.
Luigi55555 It's "Stepney".

Dark Episodes...and then I instantly thought of...
The _NASTY_ PATTY
I said it exactly In the way spongebob said it
Frankly, I think it's actually good for tv shows aimed at children to at least get a bit dark at times, let's face it, the world is not sunshine lolliops and is actually a pretty scary place when you think about it. Besides, it's hard to argue that a story that has no conflict and is just everyone being happy would be pretty boring.
ColonelNonsense Agreed.
*ran over like a train*
Tom: DO'H! WHY AM I NOT DED?!
Jerry: Me too. Let's get outta here.
Conductor: I accidently killed them. *cries*
Whhhyy!!!?
if jerry were under where the wheels will be, he'd get crushed to death too
Jerry: He fell for it *snickers*
Tom: I know right? What we used was the power of squash and stretch.
Conductor: TOM AND JERRY BEING IMMORTAL?!
*insert X-Files theme*

"And now it looks like there won't be much of a world left for you or your brother and sister to live in"
"What's gonna happen to us?"
It hit me hard.
I love both you guys! This was a great list! I love dark and creepy. However, some of these episodes had really deep meaning, and like you said, I really do think some of these episodes are important for kids to see and learn. Other episodes on this list are just really dark and unbelievable. I enjoyed every entry though.
This is ironic, cuz I was just watching your creepiest cartoon episodes. I still clicked ASAP!
Sub To Me For No Reason That's coincidence; not irony.
ajmrowland nobody really cares, can I just enjoy the vid?
I'd like to see a Sesame Street episode where they tackle the subject of animal abuse. Someone adopts a fearful Doberman from a local animal shelter. The new owner explains how his previous owner was very mean to him. So they help socialize the dog then it ends becoming very sweet and loving. Over the episode they teach how animals have feelings too even they can't talk.
That is actually the first time I hear that about explaining uncomfortable but important messages to kids when they go online even younger... because parents leave them more and more over the net's faith.
