    I love this!!!!! I know each generation wants to hold a particular athlete in whatever sport or musican and so on as the greatest. But it is clear this man would be the best in any era and is the goal standard of the NBA. Who knows maybe there is some little kid who just started making his own cereal be the one who takes the torch. MJ is not one of the best because there is without question MJ is the G.O.A.T with all due respect to all the other great players. Great video!!!!!!!

    I think he might've been the leading scorer in NCAA history if he didn't work under Dean Smith's system. You can tell by this mix that he had so much potential. Not that he didn't dominate college cause he did but he could've been a monster.

    You couldn't be more wrong.
    College basketball was far stronger in that era than today. Legendary players like Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, James Worthy, Patrick Ewing, Len Bias, Ralph Sampson, Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, Phil Ford, and going back farther to Magic and Bird, Kareem, David Thompson, etc - stayed in school for three or four years. Those elite upperclassmen-led teams would destroy today's teams full of coddled AAU players who have one-and-done mindsets and dubious fundamentals.

    it blows my mind that this is a guard doing this. How he didn't get picked 1st in the draft is ridiculous. He single-handedly changed the perceived value of shooting guards in drafts.

  • @TheNeeks6
    @TheNeeks6 9 років тому +34

    That was awesome. Could you imagine if this guy came out today. Scouting report: John Wall/Russell Westbrook, except about 2" taller and add 5" to that vertical leap. Has Kawhii Leonard hands. Oddly seems to enjoy playing D. Soft touch on jumper, loves to compete. Motor: Check, Length: Check Fundamentals: Check Basically everything modern scouts want: Check.

    • @dave474c
      @dave474c 9 років тому +2

      3 point shot: No.
      Unless of course the league is willing to shorten the distance just for him.

    • @TheNeeks6
      @TheNeeks6 9 років тому +5

      Dont think any college kid had 3 range then. In the 4 yrs MJ decided to use the 3 regularly, he shot at least 35%. Really no need to develop that, when you can get off a higher pct shot anytime you want and convert at a 54% clip plus FT, off reb, assist opportunities.

    • @dave474c
      @dave474c 9 років тому +2

      Nikko N OK, that's a fair point about college players in those days. Especially considering they didn't have 3's in college back then so coaches weren't too fond of long range 2's.
      But seriously dude, Jordan only 'chose' to shoot 3's when the NBA changed the distance to 22'. At 23', Ironically, MJ was crap. Just look at his stats here..
      www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jordami01.html
      I am not a Jordan hater bro. I have nothing but respect for the man and loved watching him play. But no player is perfect and 3's were a weakness of Michael Jordan's game.
      Strangely though, he was quite possibly the best high volume mid-range shooter in NBA history. His fadeaway gave him so much room and time.

    • @TheNeeks6
      @TheNeeks6 9 років тому +6

      I really don't think that was a weakness for him, like it is for D-Rose or Wade. MJ launched 200 or more 3s in a season only 4x in his career, 2 of those with the shortened line. The other two seasons he shot .352, .376. From 90-94 with the standard line in the playoffs he shot close to 39% which are very good numbers. Most analyst fans even concede the 3 as the lone skill that Kobe has over MJ, but guess who shot better in the playoffs, and career are similar while Kobe's
      % are dropping like a rock. 3pt % is also counter-intuitive. You would think the more you chuck your % should go lower, that's not the case most of the time. Lesser attempts mean a larger portion of 3s are heaves, 2 for 1 etc.. In a sense you can say that when he tried, he was as good or better than Kobe, Lebron, Vince in that department too.

    • @wistiti93420
      @wistiti93420  9 років тому +5

      dave474c
      bro you're talkin about "weakness" but MJ dont needed 3pts to dominate literaly his time and also to have the greatest scoring numbers 30.12 ppg on regular season , 33.4 in PO and 33.6 in finals so i dont see weakness here .
      And i remember one game particulary .... GAME 1 FINALS 1992 .... did he KILLED the Blazers in 1 half time whith 3 pts ???? you said "But seriously dude, Jordan only 'chose' to shoot 3's when the NBA changed the distance to 22'. At 23', Ironically, MJ was crap." but curiously in that game who everybody calls THE SHRUG Jordan used 3 pts play to distroy his oponents ......MJ used the 3 pts very well in FINALS condition more good than Kobe or Lebron in this moment and thats why he was smartest .....why he need to shot on 3's when he scored permanently 30 points each game and finished with 50%FG in a career (if you take off Wizards he finished with 52 %)

    He scored 30 points in McDonald's high school all American game...and Dean Smith doesn't recruit scrubs to play for UNC. "Wasn't a star in college"?? He won outright national POY his junior year and was considered POY by many awards services his sophomore year as well. Also, you have to be a star to be selected for the US Olympic basketball team. While few might have thought he would end up being as great as he was, it wasn't like he came out of nowhere.

      fun of both here..galis was as spectacular and dominant..galis was a total freak for scoring most of his pnts in the paint against much taller guys double teams and triple teams consistently with a 60 per cent fg career..that is absolutely abnormal and he is maybe tha only 6 foot player that had such a success attacking the rim at the rate that he did..galis was a beast,,everyone knew what he will do many times they defense lead him to traps and still he scored in their face ..
