Another Dive Guernsey day out no.8 (part 2) and as usual we always try to dive a new shipwreck. This time we dived the very rarely dived hulk of the Ocean Queen which sunk on the 2nd March 1906. We didn't really know where she was located so decided to learn the hard way and just get in and look. Im so glad I did as I seen so much sea life including a forest of Anemone and large bass.

Another great video lads, nice to see a shallow water dive, showing off the flora that thrives in the brighter more oxygenated levels ,,,, and even a decent bass or two!

Hi Fox Fish. I was surprised to see such large bass. It’s a hard place to get to on footy fish as you need to walk down a cliff face which is covered in sour fig and very slippery. Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

@@scubadive ha ha well yes a tricky place to get too but it was easier 20 years ago as the path was used more regularly . I am a free diver and spearfisherman, my brother Dave (well known tank diver ask Richard if you don’t remember him) took two visiting Italian spearos down there around 25 years ago but it was terrible vis on the day and they all came back empty handed.
My brother said he felt he never really recovered from the climb back up with his spearing kit and weight belt !

@@scubadive My brother was Dave Foxen, he was very active diving for flatfish and wrecks durring the 70- 80-90s. He dived with Richard Keen, Jonh Pommier and most of the other guys of that time. He had a licenced boat called Spearfish (still in the pool) and continued comercial flatfish diving until his untimely death 11 years ago.
Dave had an increadible knowledge of the sea and local wreck history.
My name is Martyn Foxen, I am mosly interested in free diving and spearfishing but I helped to run Deeper Blue forums for 10 years so I know a bit about scuba.
I gained my BSAC certificate back in 1978, very tough course in those days that took a full year to complete but I diid not gel with the tanks and stuck to free diving.
Dave would of loved your videos, keep up the good work.....

@@foxfish7115 I have definitely heard of Dave Foxen. My friend has spearfish now and is in one of my older videos diving the M483. We pulled a boat off the rocks at 5 in the morning near Herm. Never met Dave but was told he was a bit of a legend. Spearfish is a really well designed boat with the electronics being able to flip up to the fly bridge aswell as the main wheelhouse. The tanks aren’t for everyone and the majority of the nice stuff to see is less then 10m anyway. For me the diving is just a mechanism to get to the shipwrecks that’s why I don’t really chat much about what I’m going to use. Nice to put a name to a profile. Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻 t

Some of these shipwrecks are being forgotten about as there isn’t much worth diving. It’s only once you add a little bit of a story behind them they come to life and become a little more interesting to dive. Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

I would love to be a diver that discovered a wreck. Hard to do here in Monterey CA. Anything that sinks just doesn’t last very long. I’d love to see a whole ‘how-to’, from research right to dive planning

Most of the shipwrecks in Guernsey have been dived by the older generation and there is very little left still to be found. Some of the shipwrecks around Guernsey haven’t been dived for decades and have not been filmed. Our aim is to go out to all these shipwrecks and then dive and record what’s left. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻👍🏻
