When I played this as a kid we had a bag of gummy bears on the desk with us. I now permanently, forever, associate the taste of gummy bears with both the ones on that day and this game. And that was back in 1986.
A blast from the past! I loved this game, especially when I got old enough to figure out how to actually fly the chopper. For a couple of years I stayed in one spot before I figured out how to fly forward, lol. Tough luck, Jimbo baby!
When I was kid and playing a cracked version of this on the c64, for the longest time I thought the helicopter sim at the beginning was the whole game. Took forever to figure out you had to land and walk around the enemy base. Such a complex game for it's time.
@@dadewd7061 well that's what you get without internet; I too played a cracked copy with no manual and tried to figure out what to do in the cockpit, since it requires some specific keys typing; after a couple of months I found a C-64 magazine with the walkthrough and even some "pokes" to disable some enemies
It was like a 2nd unofficial copy protection. You had the official copy protection, then you had the fact that a lot of these old games were impossible to figure out without the manual. Although I swear I had a pirated copy that completely cut out the helicopter part and started you immediately at the base. Did anyone else experience that?
Oh man! Oh man! Some great memories there for sure! I used to break night on Friday and Sat with my buddies playing these games, specially this one. And then, go to the diner for a nice breakfast. LOL
What a classic game. Wearing the janitors uniform and confusing the guards was the best. They would be like "these papers seem to be okay" Then others would be like "These papers are wrong" Then Click, Boom hit him with grenade.
+demoscenes - Agreed but another great game to me was Zack McKracken or something like that... that was amazing and sucked me in even more into gaming.
Oh my god finally I was trying to remember the name of this game forever..all I could remember was the graphics, gameplay style, and the fact that there was vodka lol.
Had this game for ages before I figured out how to fly the craft. After I had it became a firm favourite. Definitely one of the best games for the C64 and still looks bloody cool now.
+Ryan Garritty - Yah! It took me a while too but I think it came with a display card with all the keyboard short-cuts and explaining whatever buttons did. I wish they would make a newer version with like 1080p output. hehehe... just a dream, I suppose. :-(
Wasn't it B, S, I to fire it up? I think I only ever made it to the base twice. That was after I figured out how to program the ADF one day. I never got too far in this game but it gave me some great memories.
2016 and I suddenly recalled this game. I had the floppy disk for a bday gift and couldn't wait to get home to play. As far as I got was about 10 minutes in. Landed the helicopter, walked around, didn't know what else to do, lost interest, moved on with life. Nice to see the whole game finally (and that apparently I didn't miss much).
+Kim Soares - Yup! But it also goes with the type of technology that is currently available because look at the amazing games being made now-a-days. Simply stunning! I am currenntly playing Assassin's Creed IV - Black Flag... and like u should see this thing on a 70" HDTV in 1080p... OMFG!!!
Atari in 1983: Here are a bunch cool games where you can jump and sometime shoot. Commodore 64 3 years later: Here's a game that's a flight sim, flight combat, stealth, and fighting game all in one.
Derschmu!! the best commodore 64 collection of game video's out there!!! i had this game, i did not even manage to take off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! never played it afterwards, so i'm watching now what i missed out back then!! top uploader!!
Never heard of this game before. But the scope of it is quite breathtaking considering the era (when it was common for games to be finishable in under 10 minutes). The graphics are excellent, too. I LOVE that title screen, so sharp.
I never could land the freaking helicopter....it always blew up and I would repeat...again and again. To this day I have no clue what I was doing wrong. But at least I finally got to see the entire game and can see how much I was missing. Very cool.
My buddy and I played this game for most of an entire summer and had a blast. I can't remember whether we were able to finish it then or if we did that later on but either way, it was a fun game and it's cool seeing it all these years later!
This game was super frustrating but so cool and rewarding. So many "worst" things to do in this game... crashing after spending all that time flying there, getting into a firefight WHILE you are landing, running into a guard and kneejerk running out the door or off the side of the screen, triggering an alarm, and of course for those with OCD... the need to check every single file cabinet for something useful!
I've learned basic English thanks to Infiltrator. It came with the brand new C64 that my pops got us from his job in the USA. That was almost 28 years ago and I still remember this game so vividly. Got busted all the time. :D
Great! Played this a lot back in the day, but never knew what I was doing really. :D Wish you had made a Let's Play out of this though, I miss some audio commentary.
+Lee Nolan - And finding dismembered bodies? LOL I always ran out of time by searching thru all of them or as many as I could... Then, I started using the SNAPSHOT cartridge so I would't have to restart all the way from the beginning all over again. Hahaha
How do you know who is enemy or friend in the flying segment? trial and error? I had a magazine with the enemy and allied list, don't know how other people played it.
I had the NES port of this; I think I was too young to really grasp the flying section as I don't think I ever got past it, although I enjoyed the building sections.
This game holds an odd sort of appeal to me, as baffling as it is. I didn't understand it when I was young playing on the NES, I don't understand it now. Still, great job Chis Gray. It takes a special talent to make something as unique and ambitious as this work at all.
Loved this game once I figured it out. It's amazing they ported this to so many OS/consoles. Pity to hear the NES version is lame/impossible. That's what brought me out here as my old Apple IIe is long gone and was going to give the NES version a go. Thx for the post!
Remember back in the day when you got a game and they had to put like 5 versions of the graphics on the back of the HUGE box because each system was completely different? Could you imaging having to port a game to 5 different systems and each one required a completely different set of sprites as well as used a completely different scripting language? O_o
Gutentag DerSchmu, I have a question. If someone else knows please answer. I forgot the name of a game I in the 80s on my c64. It was a strategic game where you had to move troops if I am correct. What I remember is that the graphics where very simple. Blocks where transport vehicles and the soldiers where not much more then a pixel. Overall the levels looked green. I remember you had to mount troops because I know I learned what that word means then ;) Does anyone know what this game was?
Lump Apps www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=http%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/list.php%3Fgenre%3DStrategy Maybe it's on this site? Lots of old types of games listed for c64
Game was really original and ambitious one. It has great atmosphere as well. But I find flying part too simulator-like with tons of keys without good reason for such a game. Making it arcade with some interesting moments would do the trick. Infiltration part is brilliant though ;] Damn, those rooms look like stolen from Spy vs Spy :D
+Pyro Rotoz - Haha... the enemies were just too dumb, IMHO... but still, I enjoyed this game so much. I still wonder whatever else I might have missed in the other cabinets I was never able to get to check in them. LOL
DA DEWD It just doesn't translate well as a console game. I always felt that games of this natuue, especially the flight sim parts tend to play out better on a personal computer system than on a console.

How about giving more credit to the people who made sure his papers were in order?
Groundbreaking game 30 years ago. Awesome.

What a classic game. Wearing the janitors uniform and confusing the guards was the best. They would be like "these papers seem to be okay" Then others would be like "These papers are wrong" Then Click, Boom hit him with grenade.
...Plus...it's just like another C64 game, "Beyond Castle Wolfenstein"!
The other day the phrase "Your papers seem to be in order." randomly re-entered my mind from 30+ years ago when I would play this game :).
This is my all time favorite game! and Still today I love playing it. The game play is awesome, also the AI is quite nice for its time! Awesome 10/10
+demoscenes - Agreed but another great game to me was Zack McKracken or something like that... that was amazing and sucked me in even more into gaming.

Right! Unfortunately, it was too complex for me at the age of 9 without any English skills whatsoever.😉
whoa, i remember my grandma gifted this to me and my brother for christmas, 30 years have passed....:)

The indoors section reminds me of an old c64 classic spy vs spy. That was a fun game!. It's the rooms and doorways that do it lol.
