    Its nice watching someone who does good work! I like using fernco couplings over PVC fittings because they help reduce the vibration moving up the pipe from the motor.

    i am using the same pump for sewer. Worked for 6-7 years then it stuck in the on position. I put after market switch on the end of the cord worked perfect. Great pumps

    I have a Liberty 257 that I put in an outdoor sump pit (for an outdoor channel drain). It has been out there year round for 5 years, including in the winter when it freezes solid in the pit for 3-4 months. Leaves, grass clippings, dirt, etc. sometimes get into the pit and the pump is still going strong.

    It almost looks like he's got a bilge pump in there for a battery backup but that looks a little crusty too but hopefully the homeowner will change that out but at least he's got 2 new pumps thanks to Steve Lav working again

      Mark Powell that's exactly what it looks like to me. A Rule bilge pump. Have the same one on one of my boats.

    Steven what model do you recommend for basement sewage pumping? Will liberty 257 or 287 be enough to pump up 10 ft and out about 20?

    Hey Steven, you should check out Hydromatic sump pumps or NexGen Pumps. There is a Hydromatic DA-1 at my house and at my grandmothers that are both 15 years old and one of them still running with the original diaphragm switch. The NexGen Pumps company got the products from the old Stevens Pumps company which I have one that even though it roars loud(I like to think of it as trying hard) it still runs good after 20 years.
    If you want to stay towards Zoeller, check out their M63 model, it uses a higher quality switch in it.

    sea water rises below the floor and goes into those feed pipes to the sump then pumped out cool! I thought I saw a barnacle on that pump!

    Battery for the backup pump looked like hell. If he's constantly charging it with that conventional dumb charger, he's probably boiled all the electrolyte out of the poor thing.

    Where is that water coming from or what is it for? We don't have basements or anything like that where I live so I'm not familiar with this setup.

  • @JD-ce4so
    @JD-ce4so 6 років тому +3

    Looks like theres salt water coming in with the ground water. An all stainless pump will help from Gould’s or Tsurumi pumps

    • @DRWebster93
      @DRWebster93 6 років тому

      Tsurumi pumps are excellent! For anyone not familiar, the VANCS or TM series work great for saltwater. (VANCS series is stainless steel and TM series is titanium)

    Steve, you mentioned about the tide coming in, is water in sump holes salt water? I assume house on beach, then could see why pump so corroded.

    • @sharonh5399
      @sharonh5399 4 роки тому

      @William I live in Illinois and have a Zoeller. Lived here 11 years and the thing is still working, but man is it corroded. No salt water here. Wanting to replace it so watching these videos.

    Have any of the plumbers in here ever worked with Tramco pumps? It's one of the other pump design, where the pump and switch are both above water, and from what I hear very expensive. But they have a 10 year warranty on their pumps and claim that with proper maintenance 30-40 years of service is possible.

    With a plastic check valve you will be back in a year need a in line flo bass check valve and y didn't you put pvc unions? why pipe band aid you will have to saw again next time you change it . And use zip tie for cord on pipe not tape looks better and will not fall in to sump if wet. Hope it help been installing pumps for over 15 years and not just sumps . Easy to say when your just watching. Sorry
