My JX75 has run fine all season......today as I attempt to mow for the last time this season it won't start.....one time it fired for about 3 seconds and shutoff. Very strange. Checked air filter and spark plug....all ok. Didn't know what else to do so brought up this UA-cam video and saw the exact same problem addressed. I didn't want to take it all apart so I used a screwdriver to gently force the choke linkage just a hair more.......started right up on the first pull and run like a champ. Thanks to your video I was able to finish this mowing season and I now know what needs fixed on the mower before next spring. Thank you.

I have a Deere JX-75 that hasn't run for 13 years. It does now, thanks to this video!

My JX75 has ran like a champ for years with very minimal maintenance. Oil changes, blade sharpening and minor lubrications here and there. It had literally started first pull every time. Even first run of the spring. So when it all of a sudden wouldn’t start you could imagine my concern. I’m a beginner when it comes to small engines so I looked to your video for carb cleaning guidance. My carb was surprisingly clean. No gel or water. My problem ended up being the same choke problem that you had with this machine. Thanks! I may not have figured it out without the help if your video!

I bought it second hand from a resell shop called Value Village. Kind of like Salvation Army. I believe it is a cake pan.

I have this mower and it sat for about a year. I got it out and it started first pull. I cut for about 10 minutes then parked it and gas is coming out of that yellowish tube. Any idea why that would happen?

I worked on this machine a few years ago and haven't had one in since. Pretty sure that is a vent tube. I suspect you have a needle valve that is stuck open, not shutting off the fuel to the carburetor. This could be caused by a float that has gas in it or the needle and seat area has some gunk built up in that area. That's where I'd start.
