    Well guys, I followed your big all in tour, and must tell you you're absolutely the best motorcycle vlogging couple on here! The tour of Europe was epic....brilliant! Not only was it entertaining with all the travel /riding content but the historical visits were so interesting even down to the tiny little churches and Rich's organ playing talent was a real enlightenment! And the camping was so interesting as it gives much food for thought for all us fellow riders who may be contemplating some travel. I dare say you've inspired fair few of us to plan out own adventures! A highlight of each episode had to be what meals you managed to muster up over the camp fire..... and on many occasions had me in stitches with your humour. You guys have a great 'natural' on camera chemistry which makes viewing your content so enjoyable, and your tour of Europe has really honed your skills on camera as UA-cam pro's. I have followed your channel for over a year or so now and you're at the top of my motorcycle UA-cam vloggers! You're a fantastic, organic, refreshing team, goodluck and safe riding for all your future content - I'm sure we all look forward to seeing more from you both!🏍👍

    OMG, what a shop/cafe the *Dragons Soul* is..., but you are 5 weeks late putting out this video.., damn it!
    I was visiting relations in Shrewsbury in August, which according to G Maps is about 30mins from there. When I left them, I had plenty of time to go spend an hour or so there walkig around with dropped jaw, and forcing myself to keep my wallet under proper control ! Now i'm back in Switzerland, where I live, cursing the missed oppertunity to visit, then at a time when the weather was so sunny and hot (well for UK standards it was).
    Loved this video and of course following you. I found and subbed you back when you were just entering the cold north of Switzerland from the southern part of the Black Forest on your last tour. It was then that I left for UK, just as you were about to enter Slovenia. I was on a round trip of UK and let YT slide till I got back. Now i'm almost up to date with On The Road and those few other Biker channels that I regularly follow and should be here giving ya me thruppence worth of useless comments to your uploads again, and looking forward to more of your fantabulous content. Thx 4 all so far.

    Rich & Ewa. Just returned from a 3 day trip up to Scotland (which was amazing as the weather was great). Like most bikers, I’m pretty paranoid about where I leave my bike overnight. For the trip to Scotland I spent ages looking at hotels and Google maps to make sure (as far as is practicable) they’re located well away from main roads, McDonalds drive throughs, retail parks or the less salubrious housing estates!
    I fell upon one in particular some 8-10 miles outside of Glasgow which was exceptional…!
    I also ensure that when I tour Europe the hotels either offer underground parking, garage facilities or dedicated secure parking for bikes. If they can’t offer this….I don’t stay!
    Keep up the great videos!
    PS….tempted to get one of the espresso machines!

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  Місяць тому +1

      We are the same, we study where we plan to stay and look at google street view and decide if the bike is safe, this is the most important thing to us, not the type of room or acomodation... Camping does solve this problem though as its always right by us and away from roads and public areas.... Having said that we heard of a bloke who had his bike pushed away from outside his tent.... Which brings back to the importance of disk locks and alarms

    We travelled back from Plymouth earlier this week, off the Santander ferry. We stayed with my son in Cheltenham, where I was able to get my RT1250 serviced at the main BMW dealer which is about a couple of hundred yards from his house. I combined it with testing the new 1300GS, all of which meant we were late in leaving, and ended up staying in Chesterfield on the way home, some 140 miles away in South Shields. Anyhow point being, we got home just in time to avoid the storms. To be honest, if the weather was as bad when we travelled as it turned out to be the following day we wouldn’t have done it. All credit for you guys on dealing with it! Did your soft luggage keep out the wet? I must admit soft luggage is something I’m never keen on, simply because of security, though on some bikes there’s no alternative.

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  Місяць тому +1

      Yes these are waterproof, they do a nice job. We also worry about security of soft bags if carrying anything of value we use the top boxes but the reality is they are also easy to open. If someone wants it, they will take it regardless

    .. Totally agree.. More layers of security the better.. Had a bike stolen from the entrance of a hospital. Disk lock on.. Plenty of people around etc. But some low life broke the disk lock off, and knicked it.. Nobody noticed 🤔🤔🤔. So now I disk lock and chain.. Never steering lock..

I also use a light lock u lock. They're expensive but very hard to cut through And I have a tracker system hidden on the bike. If they try and steal a bike with a tracker, normally what they'll do is put it somewhere for a couple of days to see if anyone finds it. When we book tours we try and book hotels that have garages. I might change the bag at some point, as the one I have is not waterproof and the waterproof cover tries to escape on a regular basis. When I leave my bike unattended I have a large metal link lock and also a bike cover, out of sight.... Those services just outside Gloucester are owned and run by the same people who own the services on the M6 at Shap. Here, in the land of Oz, if you are fully insured, you'll receive the market value for your loss. Agree.. If the stolen bike is recovered, it's a thing for the Insurance Company, to maybe, try and recover their loss, say through an auction. They may { in my case }, try and sell the bike back to you, but unless the bike, is in amazing condition, and it rarely is, just let the whole thing go. Sentimentality, will only bring you heartache, unless you have the funds to repair the damage.

    As I'm sure all of your viewers are, I am a pretty keen 'biker'. As such I keep a keen eye on the weather. The last period of prolonged sunshine (certainly for Warwickshire) ended on June the 28th *2023* Over a year ago. Indeed from June the 29th 2023 it rained at some point for almost every day for the next *year* Incredible. The first decent day this year (as far as I am concerned) came with only 6 days left before that June 28th day became a full year. Since then we have had an occasional nice day, and a few 2-days of sunshine. Is it any wonder we all clear off to Tenerife (or wherever) to get our vitamin D boost.

    Damaged repaired/ stolen recovered vehicles are worth less and it will show on a vehicle check report.
    Reporting it stolen even if you get it back unmarked 5 minutes later devalues your vehicle, it gets reg'ed as being stolen and that will now show on a vehicle check. Your insurance will also go up even if you don't claim.
    A category (a,b,s or n) is only attached to a vehicle if it is classed as a write off. Insuring categorised vehicles costs more and not declaring a cat vehicle could void your policy.
    Bottom line as you say is to avoid it getting nicked in the first place, pump as much as you can into security and make sure you always use it.

If you throw more money in the pot you can get somewhere near to where you were before the crime and then you have 5 years insurance hikes to pay for on top. You also shit yourself for 12 months in case you have to claim again, good luck trying to get affordable insurance after 2 claims.

    I'm one for leaving the steering lock off, my garage was broken into last November whilst working nights, I saw them on my cameras and called the Police. Idiots didn't see the ground anchor my bike was chained to, and £7500 of damage kicking the handle bars to snap the lock. Bike (BMW F750), a year and a half old, was written off. It's now easier to break into my house than my garage!😁

Why not get a job and you can have any bike you wish on PCP these days and be able to ride it legally and without worry and more importantly without stealing from someone who has gone out and worked hard to get what they want...

      That's horrendous! It's the same old story. The punishment isn't a deterrent! Recently, some bright spark decided to let certain prisoners out early due to overcrowded nicks. Not a sodding thought to the people they impacted with their criminal actions! Incidentally, a large proportion of them were back inside, in no time!

    It's so sad the world we live in. How a human being thinks to themselves, "You know what, f*%k that guy, I'm going to steal his Motorcycle (or anything else for that matter) and make it mine to chop up and sell" simply blows my mind. At the risk of the PC monitors on UA-cam, I think we should go back to the old ways: Public humiliation in the stocks on the town square, nice big "T" tattooed on the forehead and for every additional crime, a digit removed in public forum as well (no fingers, no thieving). I had a scooter stolen many years ago and 1 year later the frame (all that was left because the parts and engine are what make the money) was found in a Police raid. Like you Rich, I don't want that tainted, dirty item back again after those dirt bags have had it. Glad you guys are back safe from the tour. Thank goodness I live in rural Germany where every Oma and Opa is like a Stasi agent watching everyone all the time....virtually no crime here and so lucky.

    UA-camr ‘Two Wheeled Dreamer’ recently had his BMW GS stolen in France outside his Airbnb on his first day of his tour. I stopped using the steering lock after seeing a UA-cam video where a guy has his bike written off by someone breaking the steering lock. The place he went to after his bike was recovered says it happens all the time as it damages the frame head.

      Yes we saw that episode, He left his bike unattended with no Locks on it... POOF! Bike gone. Its unbelievable but we must all be responsible for making it as hard as possible for these Thiefs to take our Stuff. Even when we go to supermarkets one of us stays with the bikes whilst the other goes inside.... Again it shouldnt be like this but what can we do but be aware and do our best to prevent it. I wouldnt advise leaving the Steering lock off bud, Now it can just be pushed away regardless... If your bike looks like the easiest target.... it will be the one taken

    Today the Netherlands were quite drenched too...
    A stolen bike if returned will almost always be returned marked as a total write off.. you have to jump to so many hoops to get it road legal again, that it's almost not worth it unless it's a really really rare vintage bike... It's usually more expensive to get your own bike back on the road, than to just buy a second hand replacement... I have heard so many stories in my bike club of people putting airtags in their bike to find them if stolen.. So they did find them but most of them never rode them again, because you have to proof it's roadsafe and reregister again.. that's such a bureaucratic expensive process in most countries.. It's easier to import a bike, but really.. It's even easier to build a prototype and get it registered, than it is to register a previously stolen bike...

      @@ontheroadadventure Yeah my bike is usually chained to a pillar or something, something that's really hard to remove anyway... They could always cut the chain though.. I hope it never happens... And you're correct if there is a bike somewhere that is less of a hassle to steal, they will go for that.. I have a Honda NC700X (African Twins smaller brother), I used to ride a CBR900RR.. And I was actually more worried about that one being stolen... Because sports bikes are more popular in general... But still..
