    Truthfully, the student should be filling out their log book after the first few lessons and have the instructor review it. Just like self-serve fueling and landing on actual grass, too many students out there get certificated without the real-world experience.

    5:58 I beg to differ. How, then, does one satisfy "3 hours of _flight training_ in a single-engine airplane on the control and maneuvering of an airplane solely by reference to instruments" if the CFI is "just a safety pilot" and it cannot be counted as Dual Instruction? Also, how can the student pilot log PIC with an Instructor onboard?

  • @RazorBladeGaming2748
    @RazorBladeGaming2748 2 місяці тому

    5:57 so if you are a CFI and your student is using a view-limiting device they do not get dual received for the time using the device?

      Not if you’re a Cfi you would need to be a CFII then they would log fuel received

    Isn't it better to put a row like: KXXX KYYY and then next row, KYYY KXXX with the data separated as two flights, instead of KXXX KYYY KXXX improvised?

    I'm an AGI/IGI who has yet to do any instructing and I've never seen any requirements for me to log ground instruction given, other than in the learners' logbooks. Is it required, recommended, or a don't-care? What format do you recommend? Should I just put it into my pilot's logbook?
    I haven't flown for years because of medical issues and I thought that becoming a Ground Instructor would be a good way for me to keep my hand in. If I can help some young people achieve their dreams, so much the better.

    • @I_know_you_are_right_however
      @I_know_you_are_right_however 8 місяців тому

      Yes, like you noted, you must log _all_ training (Flight or Ground) in _their_ logbook, but according to § 61.189 the only thing _YOU_ need to keep records of is endorsements. In your case, endorsements for Knowledge Tests are most likely. You need to keep those records for three years. I maintain a small notebook separate from my pilot logbook. Each page is a different student. I record the date and the specific endorsement for each student in that logbook. Be it Citizenship, Solo, Knowledge, High Performance, Complex, etc. I also record FRs and IPCs in the same notebook.

    Can anyone share how they as a CFI systematically log ground and flight training for their student? I am looking for an efficient and concise system for CFI record keeping to ensure my student has all their flight and ground training logged systematically to satisfy the CFRs. 61.105(b), 61.107(b), 61.87(d), 61.93(e), and satisfy the DPEs. Not just a means to track student progress but also to ensure I cover my ass with the FAA. Thoughts? Anyone have a good system they use? Are there CFI records out there I can purchase or available on the internet that anyone would recommend? I've created some spreadsheets, but it is very awkward. Ideally I am looking to create a template, and then I just fill in the blanks as the training occurs. At the end of the day, all the required entries would be filled out. Let's focus on a Private Pilot SEL student for this question. Any thoughts?
