A great example of a government agency over complicating things while overlooking it's primary purpose. Create better pilots and aircraft. Alaska has aluminum and body parts scattered all over the state by pilots with impeccable log books and very little skill. The CDL created the same problem in the trucking industry.
Regulations and BS attorney speak is ruining GA. None of these required regulations make a more proficient pilot. But the pilot will be "legal". Glad I didn't have to pay outrageous fee to a DPE in '81 when I got my certification. Apparently my old logbook would not be acceptable due to incorrect verbiage.
Every pilot getting training at some point has sat with a CFI and their logbook, maybe with a website or FAR/AIM open. Maybe with another CFI in consult.... but everyone is sitting around trying to figure out how to correctly word some endorsement/BFR/etc so that it meets the requirements. Nobody is quite sure but we think if we copy the language on this website/this other guy's logbook/etc it will be right. Or maybe the school has the pre-printed stickers that they just fill in the blanks on.... then later another CFI or even a DPE looks at it maybe years later and says it's wrong because it's missing some wording.... Is there any good reason for it to be this complicated? Can we just have the FAA make some downloadable forms for the common stuff that the blanks can be rapidly filled on and signed and you just take that to your checkride? We should worrying about safety issues not playing lawyerball with verbiage.
My uncle sent me up with his instructor when I was 5 years old (1989) and gave me my very own logbook to document it. I'm just getting serious now, the flight school put my TSA endorsement in the notes pages at the back.
@@TakingOff To fill out an I-9 I think you need an ID with a photo. Drivers License with Social security card or Passport. This would cover your instruction that you gave your employees in your airplane that you could use for the basis for endorsing their logbook (for US citizens).
