You're a wonderful human being Mr. Arthur I love your reviews, they're totally magnificent for the Sony users out there before buying my a6600, I watched your videos about the a6xxx lineup and they were so interesting and I learnt a lot from them, really thank you so much Much love from Egypt to you, your wife and your 2 beautiful boys, God bless all of you
I would love to see a comparison with the Tamron 17-28. The Tamron is lighter and costs less, and uses smaller, more affordable, filters, but is still f2.8. The Sigma is 1mm wider but I am struggling to find a significant advantage since the Tamron is also very good image quality. I would love to see them head to head.
I just got Sony a7c with the 28-60 kit lens and I have felt that I want something wider. This lens couldn't have come out at a better time and the price also is pretty okay.
May trade in my Sony 20mm f/1.8 for this one. Without OIS on the 20mm, I have to use active stabilization, which crops it in quite a bit, resulting in a frame that's barely wider than 24mm. And the problem with going to 14mm for video is you can't put a regular screw in filter on the front. The Sony 14mm has the little rear filter, but I don't want to have to take my lens off with every change in lighting so I can change the filter! This seems to be the bet option if you don't want to spend the money for the Sony 16-35.
Can you do a comparison with the Sony new 16-35mm? This lense seems dope at f2.8 compared to sonys f4 but is it as light compact and easy to use? Because sonys native lense is about the same price!!!
i think i will not loose much sharpness with this lense if compare with 20 mm sigma prime, very interested in this zoom for my underwater photo and video projects - i can choose between 16 and 20 mm for wide shots, thank you
I love but maybe I’ll hold on. Might be weird but what kill it for me is the filter being 72mm because almost every other lens is 67mm, even the tamron 17-28
I have Sigma28-70 f2.8 snd always put on my gimbal for video, I have an idea with this two lens, it’s weight almost same as 28-70, does it use the same balance set up of the gimbal, if it work, it will save the time of rebalance the gimbal between this two lens, what do you think?
@@ArthurR it’s like an extra 35mm prime is packed in there. Happy with the versatility. I use the 16-35, the Sigma art 24-70 and the Tamron 70-180 to cover just about anything on my a7iv. I mount the Tamron on my a6600 if I want more reach. On the Gimbal I use the iPhone 13pro as it’s easier to balance and use.
The Sigma 16-28. You will be surprised at how many times you will bypass the prime. I have the 20mm 1.8 and use it far less than my Sigma 14-24 and 24-70 zooms.
Hey Arthur, what do you think about this lens in comparison to the Sigma 14-24 for Real Estate? I've recently started to get several Real Estate jobs and have been renting the 16-35 Zeiss. It works fine but personally I have also wanted to buy a wide angle lens for photographing landscapes and family life, thus I would prefer to have 2.8 for when I need it, but also want the best optical quality possible to continue to build my Real Estate portfolio.
I'm apsc sony shooter, looking for upgrade to fullframe.. the nikon z7 is on my list, but lens release like this sigma makes me hookex back into sony 😁
Hi Arthur, I am debating getting this Sigma 16-28 F2.8 or the Sony 20mm F1.8 G.. I mainly shoot video. I already have the Sigma 24-70 F2.8. Which one would you recommend? Thanks
I would go with the 16-28mm. I've had the Sony 20mm 1.8 and it sure is a nice lens. You don't really notice the wider aperture unless you get super close, so the versatility of the zoom is the way to go in my opinion. I don't have the 16-28 but I have the 17-28 tamron and I almost always picked the tamron over the sony so I ended up selling it. An extra millimeter on the wide end sure does more than you think sometimes, so pick the new sigma over the tamron unless you can get it for a great deal!
Arthur, you a good guy.. but you should maybe check uncorrected raw files for distortion and vignetting. And i say that because this lens has a lot of both.
I own the Sigma 28-70. Since I also own the Sigma 20 f2 I will not buy the 16-28. I love the build of the prime and the aperture ring. And I almost never need wider than 20 mm
I love your presentation. No hype, no lengthy discussion, just the facts and your opinion backed by with real photos.
Basically no Fro Knows BS
agree
Would be nice to see a comparison against the tamron 17-28mm f2.8
Just pulled the trigger and purchased 1 from B&H for my Sony A7 IV! Can’t wait to get it and have fun!

Question Tamron 17-28 or Sigma 16-28???

Thank you for this. Exactly what I’ve been searching for
Is it possibe you make a comparison with Tamron 17-28 f2.8 lens?
Great video and thank you for the support! We appreciate you!
Been eyeballing the Tamron 17-28 for wide shots to go along with my Sigma 24-70 and Tamron 70-180, but I think I'll wait for this. Great review!
Clean and clear review....no exaggeration 👌 That's why i love your videos @Arthur 😊 keep going 👍🏻👍🏻
I have sigmas 16mm prime lens and Sony’s 20mm prime lens. This seems PERFECT for a light travel lens that reaches both of those focal lengths!
Amazing lens from Sigma!
I just got Sony a7c with the 28-60 kit lens and I have felt that I want something wider. This lens couldn't have come out at a better time and the price also is pretty okay.
Ready for the apsc version and I'm buy it
wish i could see this lens on crop camera, performance....
Can I use this lense on a ZVE-10?
What aperture ring?!
review canon r5 and r6 plz
On a day that is seeing a load of apsc lens launches, feels strange to hear Arthur taking about FF glass 🤷♂️

Im bought the Sony A7Cii camera and close to buying this lense. First time watching your informative channel; btw you look like Seth Meyers brother😅😅😅

Hi, Arthur! Please consider a comparison between this one and the 16-35 gm II from Sony. Would the latter be worth 2.5 times the price?
internal zooming woww
10:45 Was this shot with the A7C ?
and what about focus breating?
what lens you used for making the talking head part of your video.
Too shame it has the 72mm filter thread unlike the sigma 28-70 f2.8 which is 67mm
Yes, they could have done it like Tamron and keeping all lenses in same series with same filter thread.
i think i will not loose much sharpness with this lense if compare with 20 mm sigma prime, very interested in this zoom for my underwater photo and video projects - i can choose between 16 and 20 mm for wide shots, thank you
I know it’s different but how does the 16mm f2.8 compare to sigmas 16mm f1.4
I love but maybe I’ll hold on. Might be weird but what kill it for me is the filter being 72mm because almost every other lens is 67mm, even the tamron 17-28
there is an update for this lens, ver.02 released last november 2022, was it able to fix the autofocus (hunting) problem? thank you!

I may be selling Sony 20, but I’ll wait a bit longer to see this 2022 sigma releasing. I’m waiting for their 50 f2 and the unicorn 70-200
Which watch are you wearing?
Its a titanium Seiko speedmaster basically. Cheap. I think i paid $200 for it.
@@ArthurR thanks for the insight. Is it possible to provide a reference number?
Seiko made so many chronographs and I didn't seem to find yours
I’m still liking the 16-35 f2.8 GM for the greater zoom range.
The GM is a bit more expensive, but yes the extra 7mm helps.
Agree. Its more premium but this one looks like an upgrade from tamron. So happy i didn't buy that one and saved for gm

Had my eyes on this lens and bought it right away when the price dropped to over 50%
So now Sigma did release their 70-200 f/2.8, completing the trilogy.
simga now has 16-28, 28-70, 70-200 all F2.8
So if i had the option between this one and the 24-70 which one should i choose?
I already have a 16mm btw
They’re completely different focal lengths.
I don’t understand your question.
Hmmm the companion to my tamron 28 to 200.
Okaaaay... What should I pick now - this new Sigma 16-28 or Sony 20mm 1.8 prime?
Samyang 18mm 2.8
Or the Sigma 20mm F2.....?
The Sigma 16-28. You will be surprised at how many times you will bypass the prime. I have the 20mm 1.8 and use it far less than my Sigma 14-24 and 24-70 zooms.
I just grabbed 20mm f1.8 waiting for it too arive. Wanted something very light
Sold.

Defenitely you need to rent the tamaron to do the comparison.
which one do you recommend to get first? the 28-70 or this 16-28? Thanks
Depends what you do and what you need. What do you do? What do you need?
I'm apsc sony shooter, looking for upgrade to fullframe.. the nikon z7 is on my list, but lens release like this sigma makes me hookex back into sony 😁

He said these are JPEGs, he always shows JPEGs. If you shoot RAW you have to know you have corrections to do.
What are you talking about, Prime is so much sharper and organic looking even if I watch your comparison in 480p
I own the Sigma 28-70. Since I also own the Sigma 20 f2 I will not buy the 16-28. I love the build of the prime and the aperture ring. And I almost never need wider than 20 mm
This so sigma 28-70 dg dn
Its cool but it is a bit late in the game everyone alrrady got something to cover these fl
@@Donbros Sure the only advantage with the Sigma 28-70 is that it's smaller and lighter than all the other 2.8 nomalzooms.
This is such a bad angle man, wide and looking up. You look thin, and we're looking up your nose. Your previous 50mm look is better.
