    Excellent as usual… because of the size I like the Sony 70-200 f4. For the photos I am likely to use it for the speed difference will only be a slight disadvantage and the macro capability and reduced weight is great for me. Nice review!!!!

    The Tamron was my choice in this category. It fits nicely in my sling bag. The other two are too big and that non-removable collar is a definite hard stop for me.

      @pixxelpusher look at how big actual 300mm f2.8 and 400mm f2.8 prime teles are. A 70-350 2.8 would be in-between those.

    I have the Sony Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 - It's super sharp and I believe weighs less than this. It also has (VC or Vibration control) which is basically OSS - Auto focus is blazing fast and its soooo much better than the 1st version which I had previously tried - but I'd be interested to try this lens, it looks super well built, clean, and sharp. My Tamron is comparible to the 70-200 G Master with some exceptions - in terms of picture and video quality, but I'd be interested to try this. It's the switches, even though I have 3 switches on the Tamron. This one looks like the kind of lens I would want. But the heaviness kills it for me cause I like the Tamrons (28-75mm 2.8 G2 - and the 70-180mm 2.8 G2) set up, and lighter lenses. It doesn't excite me to carry super heavy lenses to go shoot

    I’m also APS-C shooter and got the Tamron v1 a few months after release. I’m happy with it because I can shoot family and some wildlife. But agree with you that there is still a gap for APSC

    I have always enjoyed the 70-350mm G OSS, true it is not f/2.8 but I am looking at the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD Lens which would replace the 24-70mm & 70-200mm f/2.8. One lens instead of two. Cheers!

    Appreciate the balanced bit about AF. For information , with the 2.8 GM II and A7iv or A6700 ,with a person running towards you , you're likely to get a lot or only misfocused ones depending on lighting , face contrast , wearing glasses and probably other factors.

      I had that lens, I kind of regret selling it - super sharp in good lighting. Not so good in lower light conditions though. I ended up getting the Tamron 70-180 2.8 - G2 ---- it's a great Lens but I do miss having Native Sony lenses - But, the good ones are too expensive compared to the competitive 3rd party lenses coming out recently that are just as sharp

    • @hyponiax
      @hyponiax 11 місяців тому +3

      There’s a big difference between the two lenses I’d say. It all depends on what you’re looking to shoot. If you want to get pictures of indoor concerts or plays, maybe some sports events that take place in darker environments. Then get the 70-200 is better. If you want to go out and take pictures of wildlife and outdoor events at a much longer range, then get the 60-600

    • @SnakeEyesSOG
      @SnakeEyesSOG 11 місяців тому

      @hyponiax ya. I was more so looking at performance. I only have a sony 50mm full frame and a sigma 16mm. The 50mm extremely sharp too. It also has amazing performance overall. But i have my eyes set on that 60-600mm however if there is a big performance difference id like to consider that in my decision between the 2 lenses.

    Greetings, according to the SIGMA manual, the control of the diaphragm from the lens ring for this purpose, only works on compatible cameras and so far I have been unable to find a list with such cameras.
    On my sony A6000 it does not work, please tell me the APSC or FF model in which the ring works?
    This information will be very useful, I'm thinking of Sony a7C (when it has the price it should have) or A7III.

    I want a telephoto lens with more reach. Been debating between the LUMIX s pro 70-200 & the Leica 100-400. But after seeing those pics SOOC!!! Wow! Incredible! Gonna have to consider the Sigma. For the L mount all I’ve had were sigma lenses but at this point I’m all but done with sigma focus inconsistency. I want a LUMIX lens because the auto focus will be better but that price….tag….phew….even used!

    If you need an L mount, the Tamron is not an option. I think it’s a little odd that all of Panasonic’s MFT lenses zoom one direction, but Sigma L-mounts zoom the opposite direction. They’re both part of the L Mount Alliance. I want this Sigma, though. Love my Sigma 24-70/2.8.

    Wondering if I’m off my rocker here. I’d like to use this on an APS-C camera for video. Specifically a church livestream as the camera would be at the back of the room, approximately 95ft. from the stage. With the 1.5x crop factor I’d be getting a 105-300 equivalent. Has anyone used a telefoto in this way before? Thoughts?

      nah, i use it on a 6100. i've taken a lot of my best pics with it. at the worst, you can stop down to f/4 around 200mm if you want a sharper pic. at 200mm, f/4 delivers the perfect bokeh imo. it's a bit much at 2.8 (since it's 300mm - that's a lot of compression). hope that helps.

    Tamron is great if you're an enthusiast and just farting around. If you're a pro you're going to need to the quick changes available on the outside of the Sigma lens. Also the foot that people are griping about is very nice for grip. You won't want to take it off. The Sigma is a pro quality lens even if a slight step down from Sony quality. The Sony doesn't surpass the sigma enough to make it worth the extra $.
